Macross Frontier Mecha/Technology Thread III *Read 1st Post*
anime52k8 replied to azrael's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I was actually thinking the same thing. -
that and only one of like 6 or 7 grand cannons were finished when the zentreadi showed up. had they been able to use every cannon, they would have been able to take out something like 80%+ percent of the zentreadi fleet. I actualy think a cross between a NMC and a Macross cannon would be pretty cool. an NMC size ship, but with the gunship sized cannons on each sholder and each arm.

Bandai 1/60 DX VF-25 transformable toy thread
anime52k8 replied to David Hingtgen's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
welcome to the club. that's why I'm glad I never bought into this 1/60 scale crap and have nothing but 1/48 and 1/72 stuff (except for my YF-21)` years from now, nobody will give a crap about toy's as we know them today. by the time yamato gets the license they'll be doing something crazy like self transforming valks and we'll still have all kinds of new QC issues that wont get fixed. 3 YEARS. 3 months is nothing. articulated hands suck. they're either too tiny, or (on some gundams) absolutely massive. either way they look like ass and can never hold a weapon right. I'd rather just have fixed pose hands with good detail. -
I have no knowledge about helicopter design but here's a theory. the commanchero is huge so it can carry more ordinance. so when it's fully loaded it's heavier than a fully loaded hind. and from what I've read the hind is so heavy as it is that it can't take off vertically fully loaded, it needs to taxi first. maybe the 4 engines are to provide extra power to the rotor so it gets better lift. again, just a theory form someone who knows nothing about helicopters.

except the VF-25 isn't any bigger than the YF-19, but the legs are considerably skinnier. and in the official technical drawings we've seen, the engine takes almost all of the room in the lower leg (it's directly exposed when the big panel on the side of the leg opens) there is defiantly no room, and there are no pallets shown in that part of the leg if their are any missiles in the legs they're either in the back of the legs or in the little parts on the outside of the knee, and both of these places offer almost no room for missiles. also there's a difference between not being shown in the animation and not being shown in official technical drawings. if they were to say that there are missiles in the legs, they would have to completely redesign the interior of the legs. (not that I wouldn't put it past HFH) -

Bandai 1/60 DX VF-25 transformable toy thread
anime52k8 replied to David Hingtgen's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
maybe you'd like them to start writing you checks too while their at it. be realistic, regardless of how good/bad the DX looks, there's no way they could charge that little. it's not a cell phone or playstation where they can sell it bellow cost and make money back through later charges. bandai has to at minimum break even, and expect to be able to turn a profit. -
well, it's in the compendium it's stated that starting with the VF-15 (not animated) onward, something called the"biological anti-G boost system is in use on valks. in the compendium its described "This system stimulates the human body with laser, electromagnetic pulse, infrared, and other means to momentarily activate metabolic functions against stress. " this is just speculation, but it's possible that the VF-25 uses a newer version of the same system but it's integrated into the EX-Gear.

it's likely the attack never really happened. the emergency transmission was probably faked.

no, there are three, but when the super parts are attached the inner most one is partially covered by the booster units the hard points are the little rectangles on the underside of the wings -

test shot. it looks like the head/super packs are resin, and the rest of the body is final materials. -

no, not at all -
the SDF-1 is Spacy central command. it was before it was damaged and continued to be afterwords (and besides, the SDF-1 is a landmark, it be like not fixing the statue of liberty if one of the arms fell off)

hmm... very interesting. the alto, as a toy actually looks pretty good. it's not accurate to the anime at all, but as a a toy separated form the show it looks good to me (still not buying). as for the armor, it looks good, though I think the armor is too fat (as in it's excessively thick). another thing I've noticed, it looks like the shield has to come off in order to transform, like on the model kit. overall the model looks good, the toy looks decent but not my cup of tea. and as for the gashapons... OMG WANT!!!! -
I kinda sorta want to choke you through the internet.

Macross Frontier Series Discussion Thread *READ 1st Post*
anime52k8 replied to azrael's topic in Movies and TV Series
but blue ray sucks, the players are expensive as hell, I'm not getting a f**king PS3 just to watch movies, and not getting english subs defeats the purpose of buying the DVD for me. -
the VE-1 and VT-1 also have different heads, and possibly different cockpits/avionics/other internal systems that set them apart. the difference between the VT and VE are at least as great as the difference between the 1A and the 1J. and the mecha designs in DYRL are considered cannon, but not the story. in universe DYRL is a movie produced in 2031 that depict a fictionalized account of the events of SW1. the movie used the 2012 refit version of the SDF-1 and upgraded block 6 VF-1's (the block six's have slightly different heads on the 1A's, and the cockpits have been upgraded with new ejector seats, streamlined controls, and a HUD projected on the entire canopy. as for what I'm using as my transformation reference, I'm basing my points off what I've seen from various line arts, the toy's and models that are out, and the animations themselves. I've seen/have plenty of images to support my points, but it could take me a while to find them all. edit: here's some images and links: the yamato 1/60 SV-51, (the toy's transformation is essentially anime accurate. http://gamu-toys.info/goukin/yamato/sv51/sv5102.html transformation detail on the YF-19 and the VF-25 transformation (the 27 transforms the same way more or less)

ok now overwing hard points we have no real evidence for. we see 6 points that look like hardpoints on each wing, up two 4 of them are used in the show. we also see what look like two hard points on the spikes that project from the wing gloves. and as for the legs, the legs have a thin panel that pops open, and under it is the engine. that's it. no room for anything else in there. -
can we get pictures from a front angle?

Bandai 1/72 Scale Macross Frontier Plastic Models
anime52k8 replied to Graham's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
yack, no way. the last thing we need is another VF-1 whatever. the VF-1 is cool and all, but there's been so many kits and toys and what not done of it already. we need something new, and the VF-25 is just that cool. (besides, a PG kit would be 1/48 and we already have a 1/48 VF-1, I want a 1/48 VF-25 to go with it.)
