Macross Frontier Mecha/Technology Thread IV *Read 1st Post*

agreed, It would make more sence for them to be conventional cables. and as for the lights, they're probebly there to indacate the position of the cable so nobody tries to fly through one by accident. -
my thinking is this, the removal of 1 port correlates with the removal of the magazine in which the missiles are stored for that port, so if you have (random number) ten missiles per launcher; the VF-17 with 4 ports will have 40 missiles, but the 171 (with 2 ports) will have 20. the more likely situation is that they have the same space for storage, but instead of feeding 4 ports it feeds 2. I'm just putting out some theory's and I totally forgot about the launch ports on the legs. (which end up in a kind of awkward place in battroid/gerwalk mode, being on the inner legs.)
-
AHHH!!! oh dear god no, why?!?! 90% change those are guys by the way.
-
I don't believe there has been any official word on wiether the VF-171 has passive stealth (looking forward to the articles on it and the VF-27 to show up in the chronicles) but based on the look of the ship itself, I'd say it probably has passive stealth characteristics, thought the frequent use of external weapons tends to negate that. as for the micro missile launchers, if you look at the fighter mode views side by side: in the area on the -171 where the -17's missile ports were there is a single opening of undefined function. so if that is a missile port, then the VF-171 has fiewer missiles, or it can only launch in volleys of 2 instead of volleys of 4. :edit: looking at these two got me thinking. I can see now how the vernier parts on the VF-17 look a lot like the circles on the SV-51, but looking at those same verniers on the -171, they're now diamond shaped. Considering that little aesthetic choices like that are generally more similar between Mac0 and MacF than Mac0 and Mac7, I'd think that if SK wanted them to be verniers he would have drawn them as diamonds rather than circles.

when did they get green skinny jeans? I kind of like the new clothing for the girls, though I'm still using a guy with all rave clothing (I'm also still using the Christmas premium theme) -
embrace you're inner pervert and display it with pride?
-
I really don't think the SV-51 has thrusters that would help with space maneuvering, it seems more likely to me that the leg thrusters act more as thrust reverse's and stabilizing thrusters in GERWALK and battroid, but are probably too strong and not precise enough for fine maneuvering in space. as for the little circle things, I'm not even sure they're actually verniers and not just circles.

has anyone actually checked to see if the wings might have magnets or metal in them? -

Probebly a standing/dancing figure. It would be really nice if bandai included an extra hand with an indentation that matched the shape of the base of the figure so it could be standing in VF's hand. as for the missiles, maybe the RVF and 25G will have mounting points molded into the wings that aren't there on the ozma and alto valks. (more proof that the alto/ozma valks suck) -

between this and your comments in the 1:8 ranka figure thread, I've learned so much about you I wish I hadn't. -
just going by cockpit hatch size, I'd say they're about the same size, with the original glaug being a little taller do to the legs.
-
it was cute the first time, now... it's still kind of cute.

well considering how much Macross II copies DYRL, any time they reference something from DYRL in Frontier, you could construe that to be from MacII as well. and Ishtar in the slave Leia-esque Emulator outfit is undeniably hot. Go Mikimoto! also there was the mistery fighter from the galaxy fleet which some people will tell you is the VF-2SS WHICH IT'S NOT!!! -

so you get a fold booster with the Gallia IV set? cool, too bad the DX still look like ass. considering luca's model kit comes with the 3 ghosts, I wonder if Michels model will come with a fold booster included? -
Bandai/Tamashi Nations 1/100 lineup. 2009 takeoff!
anime52k8 replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
corrected that statement for you. seriously, the 1/100 still has the same too high fat legs, the funky too tall shield, the droopy saggy legs in fighter mode and it still has a meh looking GERWALK mode (the knee articulation DOES NOT have to be that bad) that the DX has. it's better in some areas than the DX, but the 1/72 model still looks light years better without haveing to be a partsformers. -
if that's what you want to call it

I really don't get how everyone can be so thrilled with the bandai 1/100's when they don't look any better then that thing. -
I thought the psychoticness was kind of hot, in a messed up creepy sort of way.

I'm pretty sure this is the fighter form that Kissdum engage planet show that SK did mecha designs for. not sure because I never watched it (did anyone actually watch it?)

there's more Ruri figures than anyone else because she's the most popular. (and most of those figures are of her as she appears when she's about 17 so technically not loli) :edit: by the way, what we really need is Sheryl from episode 3 with anime accurate cast off...
-
OMG CUTE! 0.0 it's nice to know Megahouse is doing more macross figures (there work is some of the best out there). First we got micro Klan, now Ranka, when they going to be done with the loli's and get to some real women. I want to see sheryl and her hopes and dreams, I know Megahouse is good at that kind of stuff, I've seen them do it before. also Grace and her despair and nightmares would be nice too.

ok, here you go: This is absolutely RIDICULOUS! what kind of crap is bandai trying to pull?!? It wasn't enough to make an ugly, chunky, poorly articulated, shiny plastic abortion of a product and sell it for $100+. no they just had to go for the gold standard A game of suck and ship it with a inherent defect that will cause catastrophic failure. at least with Yamato products you get something that looks good even if it runs the risk of breaking. If Bandai is going to try and push there chucky crap on us by saying it's more durable, then the should probebly make it strong enough to not BREAK RIGHT OUT OF THE F***IN' BOX! maybe Bandai's banking us being complacent and gullable enough to just accept it, but I'll tell you this much, there not getting one measly cent out of me until they get there act together and make a halfway decent product! [/angry tirade] there you go, now we've got angry totaly blown out of perportion rating all around. by the way, if you've got these and haven't had any breakages yet, "take you're toy and loosen a screw" is a lot lower on the hassle meter that "be very careful and regularly inspect you're toy and if you're lucky you'll be able to attempt a repair with glue before the whole arm falls off." -

there are a couple of exceptions, but in most of the cases with sukhoi's the even number arcaft are actually just variants of odd numbered planes. the new number is an in house name from Sukhoi used for marketing purposes, the Russian air force designation is usually just the old number plus some letters.
