Would the VF-1's airbrake work?
Aurel Tristen replied to Commander McBride's topic in Movies and TV Series
Sure, the VF-1's airbrake works. It is used with various other flying controls and design features to slow the aircraft down. There is the airbrake, spoilers, two-section flaps, ailerons, leading edge slats, the two NPS-1 high-burn thrusters on the sides of the air intake are used as reverse thrusters while in fighter mode... there are there is the sub intake vent overflow/jets operation (mainly used for Battroid aerial maneuvers together with the shuttered verniers), in the animation we see the main intakes actually being used as a reserve engine/thruster (this may have been an animation error however) If all that doesn't slow you down of course you can just throw the legs down. : ) hehe -
Whoa....that's sweet!

I believe the VF-0 does has ailerons and flaps:

See, I think he should just have some form of advanced bitmap IP blocking, so that he can block his scans from being downloaded by unappreciative whiners like you. Ever once think about thanking Nanashi for letting you even glimpse at rare scans for free that I'm sure he's paid good money to obtain? And how about reading text that he has either spent money on to have translated, or time to translate himself. Seriously. What's your problem with any form of protection? What would you like to do with these scans if he didn't protect them? I can look at them just fine, and put a bookmark on them so I always know where to look. Do you want to put them on your own website? Do you want to make RPG stats for them or something? Maybe you want to turn them into a Robotech creation? Please, tell us why Nanashi should remove any sort of protection. Nanashi, thanks for your tireless efforts to show the fan community all this wonderful Macross stuff. Its okay Vinnie. I didn't add anything but the text. -

The image appears as it does from the original source except for the white text. I would not mess an illustration that much. -
Unfortunately very little info is available on this one: http://nanashi.macrossmecha.info/resrc/cat...ning_mecha.html

Asuka II (CVN-99) Information and Images
Aurel Tristen replied to Aurel Tristen's topic in Movies and TV Series
The connection to the Ark Royal-class is obvious if you think about it. It's a stealth carrier, therefore it has all those funky angles and the like. Plus, it's not designed to be a submersible carrier like the Promethus-class. The Ark Royals and the Asuka II have the same design philosphy and mission in mind so it's not an entire suprise to me. There is no such thing as an Ark Royal-class in Macross. You mean Uraga-class: http://nanashi.macrossmecha.info/resrc/cat...hips/uraga.html Also see the Saratoga II entry: http://nanashi.macrossmecha.info/resrc/cat.../saratoga2.html -
Yes, Ben's design for our Meltohlauendy heavy attacker looks very Meltohlauendy-like... hehe he did a great job on that one. Different machine though....

Auerstädt Submarine Aircraft Carrier
Aurel Tristen replied to Aurel Tristen's topic in Movies and TV Series
Sorry about that. Fixed. The sentence means that the submarine aircraft carrier is operated by a strong ally of the Anti-U.N. whom always shows up to combat the U.N. Force [or the Asuka.] -

Yes there have been shots inside the sub. Episode 2 had them when Nora was pissed at the tech. In fact, the Compendium indicates how the launch from the sub. http://www.anime.net/macross/mecha/anti_un...sv51/index.html Can you provide some pics to support what has been mentioned? -
Super Macross, Super Attack-Type Line-Art!
Aurel Tristen replied to Aurel Tristen's topic in Movies and TV Series
Big pic, but you can read it was not drawn by Miyatake. I really appreciate your work, honest, and I don't want to belittle it, but you have fallen in your usual mistake. I have other images: Yellow Submarine DYRL? SDF-1 This is animation: Macross Plus Even Macross Cannon is a converging beam cannon, and it has TWO bumps. It's not said anywhere, but logic would say one is positively charged and the other is negatively charged. Between runs current due to the difference in potential (the animation shows something like that in the first episode). A third bump would be useless. I suspect that in Regults one barrel fire positively charged particles. It's not said anywhere even this, and the Compendium don't mention it, but the more you keep shooting your electrons the less electrons you will fire, because your mecha is too charged in other way. If one of the barrel fires positive particle and the other negative, you will keep your balance. Furthermost, if you keep charging your opponent in a way and then hitting him with the opposite charge, the damage increases. Zentradi are typical for two barrels design in their particle weapons. The Quel-Quallie have two double-barreled particle cannons. They are not listed as four, but as two couple. I still have not said the reason I was talking about, though FV First of all the Daicon animation openings were presented in 1983, prior to the theatrical release of Macross: Do You Remember Love? The parody is based on the original television series SDF-1 Macross design, as I stated prior and is accurate (with exception of the attached arm ships) with Kazutaka Miyatake's design of the SDF-1 Macross. The turrets of which you speak are not beam guns. The ones with three projections are "large-type missile cannons", not converging energy beam cannons. (See Macross Guide Book, p.189) Also more specifically, the Macross' main cannon is a super dimension energy cannon which uses polarization/convergence system. The other smaller converging energy beam cannons do not appear to use this super dimension energy. -
*pukes* Anyways.... here is another armament.... although it was never produced: http://nanashi.macrossmecha.info/resrc/cat...ed_gerwalk.html

Auerstädt Submarine Aircraft Carrier
Aurel Tristen replied to Aurel Tristen's topic in Movies and TV Series
German-ish. It means something like "Auer City". OTTOMH, I don;t know what "Auer" itself means, and I'm not sure if there's a real Auerstaedt in Germany or Austria. From the Macross Compendium: "Notes: The name is a reference to the German town that was a decisive battlefield between the French and Prussians in 1806 during the Napoleonic Wars." http://www.anime.net/macross/mecha/anti_un...tadt/index.html The name hasn' been published as far as I know... it must be inside info. -
Auerstädt Submarine Aircraft Carrier
Aurel Tristen replied to Aurel Tristen's topic in Movies and TV Series
You're welcome. Thank you for your interest in the Nanashi's website. The remodeled _super-large scale_ submarine is probably not a Typhoon class. I believe that the submarine from which it is remodeled from was perhaps a new/fictional design. The design features six forward tubes. Not sure about the Octos units... we haven't seen another Anti-UN Forces vessel in the area on screen yet. -

Kisama! What your tongue! : P Actually..... hmmm, yep, you don't know what the hell you're talking about. hahaha Gainax's arrangement of the converging energy beam guns and missile launchers are all correct. The design is based on the TV series version of the SDF-1 Macross You, sir, are mistaken ^.^ -

That scene was apparently cut from Episode 3. There has not been any data on the Auerstädt's armaments other than it carrying SV-51s. -
For your information: http://nanashi.macrossmecha.info/resrc/cat.../auerstadt.html Anyone care to discussion this vessel?
