Kakizaki in DYRL. Cracks me up every time. Same with Quess from Char's Counter Attack. As for stupidest... Well, I just saw Rurouni Kenshin: Sei Sou Hen (Samurai X: Reflections). That's all I'm gonna say. Too many depressing deaths to list.

Predator Special Edition is the ONLY DVD version worth getting.

Opinion: Most Annoying Sidekick In Anime
Jemstone replied to Noriko Takaya's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Damn straight. Even before I read your post I was ready to type "Azusa" or ANY variation of Azusa/Asuza (altho the one in Ranma 1/2 ain't a sidekick) after just seeing this thread's title. I must also nominate any talking animal sidekicks. Come to think of it.... I could swear we did this before but we listed simply annoying characters. C-Ko, Azusa, Mihoshi, Mint/Annie, Ed, Chibi-Usa/Rini, and Quess (who didn't celebrate when she died?) all topped the list. Oh, and that perverted old freak from Ranma 1/2. -
Ok, I'm dedicating this thread to Q&A on the various DVD versions out there. Normally I wait for a DVD release anticpating that "Special Deluxe Criterion 5 Star Platinum Collector's Edition" but it seems sometimes the film companies still get the best of me (and most of my everyone I know). Other times, just haven't bought a DVD release not knowing which one to buy. Bourne Identity: I saw an ad for the new Bourne Identity DVD and started wondering what's the difference as I have the old one. IS this new one worth a purchase? T2: Have never bought this film despite it being one of my favorites. Didn't get the 2000 release and cringe when thinking about the "Extreme" edition. Which one should I get or should I just wait a few more eyars for some Trilogy, Quadrology/Quintilogy or whatever Box set years down the line? Underworld: Is it worth getting any DVD at all? Spider-man: Which set is worthwhile; The special box set with the comic and crap VS that newly released edition? Thanks.

The real deal with Harmony Gold and DYRL
Jemstone replied to Apollo Leader's topic in Movies and TV Series
OMG!! That is the funniest spoofed propoganda I've ever seen. I just fell over laughing when it all loaded up. LMAO!!! -
That's not sad. It's the truth. Back in the late 80s when I couldn't find a VHS of DYRL, I too settled for a copy of Clash of the Bioroids. A copy I kept untill a friend made me a copy of DYRL off a Japanese laser disc. And 'Ai Oboete Imasu Ka' is still one of my favorite anime songs ever. I could listen to both versions playing over and over again for hours on end (and have).

Rare for the sake of being Rare (Rant)
Jemstone replied to Ghadrack's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I admit I am a "completist" in regards to certain things I collect btu there is one rule I do follow: If it has it is marketed as "collectible" or has "collectible" stamped somewhere on it, it is and will always be WORTHLESS. Now I laugh at all those fools who ran to get Dale Earnhardt Jr "Collectible" KFC buckets!! -
Which Street Fighter Character are you?
Jemstone replied to Gaijin's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Figured I'd get Bison. -
Just so long as it's not that God awful NBC produced animated cartoon.....

Hey, I happen to like the lameness of it. However, it had a kickass electric guitar opening theme. I used to get up at 7 am Sunday mornings back in the day just to hear it.

Spider-Man 2 review! (spoiler free)
Jemstone replied to Zeta Otaku's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I think you're hoping too much. The way the film ended on and faded to black gave me the vibe that MJ was not going to last for very long. I don't think it would work seeing how these two films (in the movie universe anyways) have established MJ as one of his driving points. Killing her off would be much (unless it turns out her clone was killed and otehr crap clone stuff) Heh, I was hoping there would be some future plot twist that the blonde girl becomes Black Cat. They've changed and twisted enough atuff alreday in these films anywas. In fact, not having a Felicia Hardy cameo somewhere in the first and this film as a classmate or something seems like a mistake. -
Spider-Man 2 review! (spoiler free)
Jemstone replied to Zeta Otaku's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Then you'll be sad to know Dunst has no interest in doing a fourth. She doesn't want to be known as "Mary Jane Watson forever". -
Spider-Man 2 review! (spoiler free)
Jemstone replied to Zeta Otaku's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
That movie was awesome and ended with the perfect touch. "Go get 'em, Tiger!" But I could swear I saw Stan Lee do two cameos. The one where he pulls people from falling debris and what looked like him passing by in the background while Peter had his slow mo strut scene. -
The Hot Anime Cosplay Chicks Thread
Jemstone replied to bake_art's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
(still unbelieving to how a Cosplay thread has lasted so long) -
Agreed. Me and the G/F actually clapped. We clapped even more when Julia shot that bitch dead. You maybe happy but I'm not. I saw this coming and how it would end for her. First Nina, then Chapelle, and now Sherri. That's 3 bitches down, 1 left from the first season and a second from the second season (the one that had all sorts of issues with Michelle). Takes the fun out of things when the premiere trouble makers are gone. However, this new guy in charge seems to be doing a greta job of being the oen everyone loves to hate.

Does anyone else feel like Minmay got kinda....
Jemstone replied to Max Jenius's topic in Movies and TV Series
How did she get screwed in series when she just LET Hikaru walk away. It was obvious the relationship would never work when she stood him up for practice. She wasn't a bitch but she was too fickle. She couldn't make up her mind if she wnated Hikaru or not and took him for granted when he was around and could devote all the attention she could handle and more. She was pretty selfish in some ways. I still laugh my ass off when Hikaru hangs up on her after the barrier overload. Sure she didn't know he just lost another of his best friends but she sure as hell never tried to know more about what went on with him. She only ever noticed when he was gon for several days and not there to meet her attention needs. Then there was all that flirting with Kaifun in Hikaru's presence. When she finally figured out what she wnated it was too late. Misa on the otherhand saw what she wanted and went after it and didn't let it get away for the most part. No, I don't feel sorry for Minmay at all but she did get screwed int he movie. -
So what you are sayin is, its exactly like M7. No, I'm not. There are no fruity giant robots with boobs in Sailor Moon. They are not a band and don't have some annoying guy preaching love and peace singing Planet Dance. It's just different albeit aimed to a similar target audience without the mecha.
-
What's wrong with Pitt lying in bed naked with a dude? Oh, Sailor Moon is nothing like Macross 7. You prolly wouldn't like it cuz it's aimed at 12 to 14 year old girls that like "magical super teen girl dramas".

As happy as this news makes me I have reservations of course and am left mostly with questions. Will they be remastered? Will they be sold as sets or individual DVDs with certain number of episodes per discs? Will selling well lead to future releases of Gatchaman II and Gatchaman Fighter? Also by bilingual, does that mean the release will be like Samurai Troopers/Ronin Warriors since much of BOTP and G-Force was edited and dialogue not translated...?
-
Another sad part is that the cheesey Helen of Troy or whatever it was called mini series that aired on the USA network this past Spring is also far better than this film and truer to the source book.
-
Hey! I resemble that remark! Some of those "arthouse" films like "Girl With A Pearl Earing" were are actually good and not overrated like "The Hours". Huh? Did I miss something?

What's your collection philosophy?
Jemstone replied to Mechamaniac's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I don't know how to answer this poll. My philosphy is very subjective. I've been known to buy the biggest 70s giant robots toys for up to $1200 and little ones for 25 cents a piece when I decide to be frugal. How much I spend all depends on the quality (that includes detail), brand or the robot itself. Being a Grendizer and Dougram nut I've been known to spill out the cash while for others I just ignore them. However, anything I buy I buy to keep and have no intention of selling (or sharing for that matter) unless some Apocalyptic catostrophe happens. -
Hey, I'm from Boston and while I don't have a Boston accent, I have to say it is far more tolerable than the deep Southern accents. It hurts me ears listening to some of the people taling here in Georgia. Anyways, thank goodness for the advent of DVDs so I don't have to listen to awful dubbs anymore.

King Conan? Guess who's playing him
Jemstone replied to bsu legato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
The Rock IMO would make a great Conan, Much better than HHH. After seeing the Scorpion King... I don't think so! -
No, while I love Melee for it's Event Challenges I ahd mroe fun with the N64 version. That's my sister's prefered platform to play when she comes over. We killed the stats in the game for Kirby, Pikachu and Link. They are all 9999999999 in total damage taken and done (not that we don't use other characters).
