heh, the thaught of confusing the 1/60 with the 1/48... HOW? i ask j/k we're all entitled to our moments of glory
-
that was in Gerwalk though wasn't it? i canna remember
-
dunno, you didn't even get to choose yer team :/ got to customize yer paint scheme though and play custom tracks... but beyond those additions.. yeah

Shin Goji's news post at www.neomonsterisland.com -- NOT a 100% clean link, so be warned i personaly think its gonna end up another failure, but we may get surprised (i doubt it)

yar, but like i mentioned, the AV8 has to refuel soon after a vert takeoff, it costs a LOT of fuel to manage such a heavy lift, normal fuels would burn off to fast for the VF0's uses. you do have a point on the oxygen fed system, as if it used a rocket fuel it wouldn't only last a few minutes underwater, unless it was in referance to an overheat time having the intakes shutoff and cutting back on internal cooling. on the armor thing, mayhap the Zentran just have much stronger skin/muscle strength than humans, i mean, Veffidas pryed open a blast door with her bare hands!

hmm maybe use of a Gundam paint marker could do this with no seal? the one i have is fine enough, and if ya botch, wipes off clean unless yer dumb enough to let it dry first...

Could just wait until it drops in price or is re-released on a best of label. That said, the game isn't that great. I bought it at launch and kinda regret it. Lots of boring levels and the worst lock-on system I've ever seen. 418491 guess its a matter of opinion, the lock on system was pretty generic to any mecha game of its type that i've ever played out of japan, and it did justice for some of the tactics you can utilize with the reverse thrusting units, though the fighters could've used something differant. yeah, some levels were dull and stupid (mostly the Nadesico ones) but quiet a few had some nice perks, and interesting bits of dialogue from the characters (i still can't believe they put the whole argument in....)

probably flopped from both the targeted customers and lack of any really decent options, granted it had a few things gamers wanted, but it lacked a LOT more. i mean, both teams had to be filled before you could start the battle (if i recall)?! that requires nearly 16 players, and i'll be damned if i ever seen a server fill up to play Not to mention 99.9% of the servers i got stuck in were filled with Japanese players, and i got the boot immediatly, even though they needed at least a dozen or more players. been in Chrome hounds lately, Sega did an awsome job with it, but it suffers the usual Rocket/missile abuse and base rushing BS of any game like it. course kit restrictions only become a major frustration for all, so i say loadup with whatever suits ya (as rocket/missile launchers tend to burn ammo fast anyways in this one)

Rare was getting into the that same habit like 3drealms, they wanted the "perfect" technoligy to display their next game upon. Hence Dinosaur planet was delayed from the N64 to the GCube, and renamed to Starfox Adventures 3drealms has stated they want to be able to create the most complete and graphical Duke nukem experience, not exact words, but in the same lines, they've tested versions on various engines over the years and are left wanting more from the engines, honestly, i think they'd have what they seek if they took the Quake 4 version of the Doom 3 engine, tweaked the model system (we all hafta admit the Doom3 engine models are kinda waxy) and have a go! or even using the HL Source engine would be decent (i still don't see what everone likes about this one, outside of Oblivions use of it (after graphic mod upgrades to reinsert Paralex/normal maps, since Bethesda cut them, and higher res LoD's and more) its really crappy IMO, as the world is literally 3/4 flat textures, gimme some bumpmaps for craps sake! with the soul exception of its character models thats my opinion, but even those are really flat looking, the skeletal system used is one of wonders for facial animations and such) its a bad tactic really, and i can't understand how 3DRealms is really still around with such an attitude. Rare did do justice to the games it withheld, but like Conker, make an awsome game with what you have, and if something better comes out later, remake it! i can't think of a reason not to own both copies! but most companies think "if we just remake the game, no one will like it, we need a new game, something differant, but we'll market it under the same name to attract old fans" Conker Live and Reloaded had minimal changes aside from GFX, and it still sold really well! crap.. now i wanna piece my Steel battalion controller back together and play... wish LoC didn't require fulls teams, and had a friend finder function :/ no wonder it flopped that part problem is, i've no way to setup my controller outside sitting on my lap ATM, i need to rig something... hmmm i think a comp chair mod is brewing now *buggers off to find some speakers, ply wood, tools, vise clamps, and sardines* what? i like sardines, sue me!

What's wrong with my Yamato, Bandai, etc.
GrimlockCW replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
the shoulder itself or the twisting joint between the shoulder/elbow? mines loose at that one, EXTREMELY loose, but i read it was a production flaw in this version :/ lest ya mean the shoulder joint that swivels out for the arms switching from fighter to gerwalk/battoid, mines loose there to, and i kinda wished it had a catch like the 1/48 VF1's till i realized it allows for more posing options, though it looks odd from top down or side views :/ mine also came with the hole in the gunpods handle to small to fit onto the pegs of the arms simple file trick there... but the handles also a bit loose when locked up.. i could nitpick all day, but i still love this thing and think its abseloutly AWSOME -
hmm i want one! my only complaints with my VF0S is the way the arms lock up, it bends that joint their attached to... won't that wear down and become nice and brittle with time? sry that just creeped me out when i first TFormed the thing, that and the way the panel behind the head in battroid mode locks up.. just seems a bit much force is required :/ ahh well still, Yamato makes the best! mmm VF0 goodness from yamato... wow... the fuel blisters do come off! most interesting... wonder if it means something, since it leaves those big holes, yamato usualy doesn't overlook such things do they? of the companies making Macross items, Yamato by far does some of the best justice to these things hope they make some Low Vis 0's

1/1 Scale Vf (my Greatest Masterpiece Yet...)
GrimlockCW replied to wm cheng's topic in The Workshop!
sry i don't know you much as i'm the newb, but Congrats anyways! many sleepless nights ahead -
And that's in docile General Aviation plane. Stalls in military fighters are often unrecoverable and kill pilots on a regular basis. And jet engines can actually stall as well, it's called a compressor stall. The blades in a jet turbine are just wings turned sideways and spinning in a circle, and just like normal wings under the right conditions they can stop producing lift cutting off air flow through the engine and shutting it down. I don't see any reason why the same thing couldn't happen to a Valkyrie's thermonuclear turbines. 418423 The VF has internal reaction mass. If it's engine ceases to suck air, it can pump mass into it from the tanks. Doesn't use burning fuel like a conventional jet engine, so loss of air is of no consequence there either. In fact, it probably does that at high speeds anyways. At high mach, jet engines cease working right. And the Valk has no alternative that I know of besides blocking the intakes and using reaction mass. 418434 hence the reason it can fly in space too yeah, i was talking general aviation stalling. a military aircraft can be recovered, but only if the pilots fast, and the altitude was right. test pilots have to do it all the time to examine the stalling properties of an aircraft, to see how it could handle in harsh combat situations. normaly though you see them crash from lower level flights, as in the videos, making it impossible to pull out in time due to excess speeds. Even an engine stall can be forced back into function, but agian its a tactic that requires altitude, in order to force air into the intake. heh, i've worked EA-6B's for 4 years, and when they cease to suck air (a quick burst, so not a full stall) it makes a nicely audible *BOOM*, and the mechs are checking to see whose jet it is and praying cause it usualy means either the pilot took the turn to tight into pattern, or the engine is offset in its mounting, of course the pilots first assumption is the latter.
-
and aviation stalling is alot more frightning... i had to do stall practises for my license, and i hope never to do them agian one moment you going up.. the next the wing drops and your nose is down...
-
heh, i won't buy their stuff for 2 primary reasons 1. they're licensed roblowdrech 2. its 99.9% rehashed versions of the old Taka and bandai figures, with minor upgrades in materials, a couple small joints and the heads with those stupid lights. hardly worth what they originaly were trying to price at, i ended up with a few 1/60 figures from yamato instead, the detail and all is bout 100x better IMHO but thats me i've debated getting the roblowdrech Ben Dixon one or the animation glitch 1R thing, as their kinda uncommon looks, but i can't look at them without thinking "OMFG this thing is crap" and thats just from any pictures i've seen... even the good pics make them look bad. at least my Yamato's can strike some awsome poses with hardly a fault, and those that do get reissued with fixes usualy!

sry if it seems i was mocking yours, i meant in general experience with ball joints on my parts they've been such, i really didn't widdle through your whole posting... aluminum hmm, that might do the trick, the problem i've seen in ball joints is the plastic on plastic wear and tear factor that causes them to wear out real fast, and often the connection also expands from it beind hard pressed.

still taking orders if so i'm in! i wanna decal up my VF0 but i dun wanna use the ones it came with

http://mechaskunk.com/images/hips/ I did the same mods about, oh, 6 years ago, and made about 50 valks with the modified hips/knees/feet... One guy bought 30 of them I believe... 418276 To be fair, our mods are not the same. My approach is perhaps more crude/unsophisticated than yours. My reasoning is simple in that I do not yet trust the frictional properties of ball joints. I haven't even had the chance to get my hands on any to see for myself. Thus I looked for another solution. I was, interestingly enough, inspired by the MPC I believe as it swivels the thigh similarly to the way I do mine. My mod has the uniqueness of using 100% 1/55 parts. There are no outside parts introduced. I kinda like that. I have also experimented with the foot mods and the super poseable knee mods and they don't add much to the poseability when used with my thigh mod so I did not encorporate them. My mod also has the disadvantage of being fairly useless in Battroid mode. But since GERWALK is my favorite any way, my goal was to make it look good there. I wanted a simple modification that could enhance the Gerwalk mode while using nothing but 1/55 parts. In that I succeeded. I reinvented the wheel...and it's not the best wheel...but it works. I thnk it looks very "anime correct" with the "high angle" cut. ---- For those who are interested I would be willing to do the mod for you. However, you might be better off getting Fulcy's thigh ball joint mod instead. 418337 ICK, don't get me started on how shoddy ball joints are... they used those in the newer TF line of figures (Beast wars and anything since) and they either come packaged loose as sin, or wear out so fast, even standing on a shelf, its not funny at all... no offense to the mod, i still love it, but... ball joints... gah BTW i may give this a try, but i bet i fu*# it up royaly if i do lack of tools and knowledge are my worst foes....
-
i'll give ya that, but they royaly screwed up what could've been the best starfox game since starfox 64 :/ i still haven't finished it i'm so dissappointed in it :/ not even past the 3rd mission i think, and i even had more fun playing Starfox adventures... is that even possible?! but meh, rareware did a good job of the game, so i guess it is. nintendo never should've sold Rareware to Microcrap, i mean, they gave up Conker to XBox!! wich BTW the remake was AWSOME, MP was odd, but the SP remake of the original added alot of jokes on it being such and more ahh well, that aside Namco is awsome for things under their own construction/design hmm i wonder if we could coax Capcom to make a Macross simulator with control panels and foot pedals like Steel Battalion? that'd OWN i'd pay 500 for it
-
i saw the trailer... honestly it doesn't look bad, though a bit odd, the character models are crap design wise though, the masks aren't even on their heads if you look close theres a fat gap between leos face and his mask... i wonder wich it will follow... if it follows the original live action movies... erm... yeah... i don't think it'd be to hot, like the 3rd one, a flop. the comics or the original show, i could see that, and prob like it still.
-
any system would be good for a new kickass one, but bandai licenses primarily to the PS family. and with the troubles sony is having making the PS3 on the production side, we'll be lucky if they don't bankrupt themselves first! thus far i've read 2 problems with the cell CPU's production, and another about the Blu-ray thing they were putting in Edit: weeee got my DYRL on order, shipping in from japan, should be here in bout 2-3 weeks... can't wait! minus the nuisance of the hidious lower half the the battroid... that'll prob drive me nuts as i'm a detail whore sometimes
-
wow.... damn i feel insignifigant compared to you people! if i sent my spare jetfire overto someone think it could get modded for a fee? i'm tool-less and hobbyshopless where i am :/ i think i have the parts to do it (i've like 4 scrapped jetfires and rebuilt 2 and a half, began to repaint 1 as a valk, but stopped midway since i went to the military, but now i'm out and wanna complete!) BTW when you say "bootleg valk" you mean those little 1/100 scale bootlegs that flood on ebay every so often, or is there a 1/55 one? or is this just another jetfire referance i've missed (i'm a newb, i've a license to be retarded) Edit: looking over, looks like a 1/55 bootlegs from somewhere... where are those sold at? agian, i'm retarded, so don't hurt me to much!

Dam You Macross 7 Dam You #$%#$^#$&^$%&
GrimlockCW replied to deadghost's topic in Movies and TV Series
true, but a lower setting would take longer to overload than a higher, though give less protection. 418077 That's a shaky assumption. Remember, the shield overload is because it's absorbed more energy than it can contain. I'd expect a low-power shield to overload EASIER since it has weaker confinement forces to start with. On the upside, it doesn't damage everyone around you as badly when it DOES blow, since it's holding less energy to release. On the downside, City 7 is instantaneoulsy stripped of all atmosphere when it blows, regardless of strength. I've also got serious doubts that the barrier system allows variable permeability, regardless of power level. 418184 whelp i'm beat... NEXT! -

LOLLOLOLOLOL that has NEVER happened before... wow.. Edit - it says it limits it to 4mb per hour (guh'ay!) so mayhap in a bit it'll open back up.. the files weren't that big.. yeesh hmm gonna try to resize them, usualy i suck, so quality may take a drastic drop :/ Edit2 - there, that should help once it clears... though i've just moved a few things about to add a couple VF-19 Bootlegs tighten a joint here, shave a piece there, they ain't so bad really. the one in these images is a true blue bandai though.. yeah, still crap, i know, but i missed my chance at the YF-19 from yamato originaly thanks to HG, but with a new one being made... i won't this time!! -
really? wierd.. never knew that honestly BTW it was more of a joke, i rarely ignore anyone, as it makes me miss half a conversation i had my valks (all but my 1/48 1S and 1/60 1J, 1A max and VF11B) stored in a small part of my parents house roof (yeah, in da roof! lol, crawlspace/attic really) they were subjected to tempretures in excess of 100 degree F or more and humidity levels i couldn't count for over 4.5 years, with minor ambiant sunlight from a small vent in the space, and worst damage was peeling decals and boxes kinda glued themselves to one another (my YF-21 box actually left a mark on the wall) and not one of them yellowed, as where a figure i've had less than 2 years sat on a shelf in a barracks room that had AC and LOW humidity levels, yellowed nicely on its top (only as it was in fighter mode as mentioned above) i know the BKS had dehumidifiers as A. i'd wake up constantly with a dry throat and nasal cavity, stoopid nose bleeds would ensue B. they placed them in the rooms for the showers, so they wouldn't end up moisture rotting the tiles/walls C. i've seen the bloody things and wanted to rip it out of the ceiling when i had the chance while the techs were there draining them and fixing the heating (which they never did for the whole 2.5 years i was in that particular bks) ahh the days of waking up seriously dehydrated... thank heavens i left that place... Edit: i should also add in that same storage at my parents i had several other items that actually melted from the heat..... grrrr
