  1. I think the blame for the "gazillion Gundams" thing would have to either go to G Gundam or Wing and it's been - with the exception of Turn A - a main stay ever since. What SEED/Destiny has done is combine the above with an obsession for every damn character to have an upgrade path to the next better Gundam.
  2. My God.. is everybody's dislike for Bandai so big on this forum, that your even discrediting them for getting the scaling right against older stuff and Toynami!? This is after all the company behind HG, MG, PG and a majority of other rightly scaled kits out there. Not everything Bandai does with Macross is automatically wrong you know.
  3. Don't worry it will eventually come. The question is not "if" but rather more of a "when". At this moment I wouldn't expect a Gundam 00 until earliest 4th quarter of 2010 or maybe even 2011. That's because they might want to do the 1st season Gundams before they start with the 2nd season ones.
  4. Yeah, it's a good thing Macross didn't reuse love triangles, idol singers, giant transforming ships and fighters over and over again.
  5. I pulled down my 1/48 long before I even had ver.2 VF-1. I'm almost certain I'll never go back to it and probably will sell it eventually. Once I saw the Battroid proportions of the ver.2 in pictures my dissatisfaction with the 1/48s grew exponentially. And all those extra features like wing flaps and the radar dish have never interested me and therefore won't be missed on the new 1/60s.
  6. I love how he says Star Trek has to recreate itself and at the same time he want's to go back and do 60's style TV show. Hooray for stupid ideas. Helllloooooo... Enterprise failed because it was a prequel and because the majority of Trek fans didn't like that premise. Trek has to move forward not backwards!!!!
  7. Thought I'd update this thread with some pics from Miyazawa Model Exhibition 2009 Didn't realize it came with a stand and the box looks cool too. I'm really excited and glad I pre-ordered.
  8. Judging by that pic, the VF-11 seems to have the same head height as VF-1. Doesn't look like the VF-11 size was retconned at all. And I can see that the intake hitting the back-plate thingy is going to be a royal pain in the a** when posing. On the positive side the feet look much better now.
  9. Hmm.... top 3 contenders.... That would probably be either - VF-0D, because only 30-40 percent new molds necessary for complete new Valk. - VF-5000, similar sibling to VF-0, VF-1 and VF-11 OR - VF-17, one of Grahams favourites and he's putting his money on it But back to the 1/100 and therefore the VF-25. I have noticed that in this thread and the DX one there has been a lot of scathing and bashing on Bandais take of the Battroid mode. On the other hand most of the same people seem to be very lenient on Yamato's take of the YF-19/21 Battroid. They are just as much off, perhaps even more so than the VF-25. Why this discrepancy in dis-/approval? It seems that members are applying two different standards here.
  10. So does this thing come with a pilot? Somebody please post some close-up shots of the cockpit.
  11. I disagree. The sliding mechanism is godsend for the appearance of the VF-1. The head might sit a little higher, but that's still a better trade-off than low sitting shoulders, long upper arms and a pron star proportioned fuselage. I also don't think the transformation becomes more complex but rather more fiddly. Lets face it, Yamato does the perfect transformations but they haven't really bothered making them an easy and fun 3-5 step procedure.
  12. Couple of more galleries courtesy of Ngee Khiong. SR../Blood Zwei Toysdaily #1 Toysdaily #2 Link no. 3 is quite interesting because it shows you the main VF frame without all the swappable bits. I really like Battroid mode and its range of articulation. And it does look like there is a pilot figure, albeit part of the cockpit mold. Can't wait for a VF-19S to roll out, hopefully without the Yamato gangling legs interpretation that Bandai seems to be copying.
  13. Well I like it, but I am very disappointed at the lack of a pilot figure. Maybe it is a separate piece that one has to be pulled out box and placed in the Valk? More pics to satisfy the needs: toysdaily Judging by the usage of emoticons I would say, the forum members seem be disappointed or baffled, but I have no clue as for the reason.
  14. Brace yourselves for disappointment, it looks like we might be getting yet another Gundam dealing around OYW. Take with a grain of salt, pics could be used to promote something entirely different. This is the RX-78-7 And some general info: "Title: Unknown Mechanic Design: Katoki Hajime Character Design: Suzuki Tatsuya Mobile Suit: Phantom Gundam Unit No.7 EARTH FEDERATION PHANTOM SWEEP TEAM Hughes Curro: Male. Age 32. A veteran officer who leads the Phantom Sweep special forces unit charged with hunting for Zeon remnants. He has a bitter experience in which his unit was annihilated in the past. Feelings mix on the battlefield as the young Zeon officers promote the top-secret strategy for the revival of Zeon…" Images and text courtesy of Hobby Fanatics forum and Ngee Khiong (comments).
  15. More pics at gamu-toys. Includes fast packs and recreated TV scene shots.
  16. Looking at that poster, I would say most of my wants are covered. Hikaru Strike, VF-4, VF-2SS, VF-11, VF-17D, and of course VF-25S w/o Armor. Can't say I care about Basara's VF-19, but I'm sure the other variants including my favourite, the VF-19S will made... and that makes me excited. There is only three more Valks I want for this line: VF-5000, VF-11D and SW-XA1 Schneeblume.
  17. Actually that's Kakizaki dressed up as Roy, flying a 1J. He desperately trying to change the timeline and escape his inevitable death.
  18. More like 1/120. But it gets worse because the VF-1 will probably be as tall as the previous GN-U Valks and we all know that is wrong. So even an unofficial unified scale has been tossed out of the window. It is sort of annoying, those stupid candy toys are given a 1/200 scale but the GN-Us are not. Yamato higher-ups really make weirs/idiotic descions sometimes...
  19. LOL, the GN-U VF-1 has side covers, but their high end variant has gaping black holes left and right. Graham can you just ask and get a definite word from Yamato on why the 1/60s have to suffer. The GN-Us look good and the somewhat modular inner frame thing is neat idea. But the lack of scaling has killed any interest on these things for me. So I find myself more interested and willing to invest in Bandai's 1/100 line. As for articulation, well that is debatable. A fully decked out VF-1 with FP and missiles hardly leaves room for posing the arms.
  20. Well if they are making this, then surely a TV VF-1S with Hikaru pilot should not be impossible. And looking at those pics has reminded me we still need those damn SIDE COVERS!!!!!
  21. At MEGA HOBBY EXPO 2009 Alter is showing the Arbalest again, but the real news is that the M9 Gernsback looks ike the next release. http://ga.sbcr.jp/mreport/012295/
  22. Gundam: RX-93 Nu/Hi-Nu Gundam. If the word "power" had to be defined as a mecha, then this is it. Runners-up: RX-105 Xi Gundam and RX-0 Unicorn Gundam. Macross: VF-19S Excalibur. Runners-up: classic VF-1S and SW-XA1 Schneeblume. Other: ARX-7 Arbalest (FMP). Second and third are: Lancelot Albion (Code Geass), ATM-FX-∞/SSS-X Testa Rossa (Votoms) ------------- Out of the first place winners, it's definitely going to be Nu/Hi-Nu Gundam.
