Star Trek Into Darkness, in theaters May 17, 2013
lechuck replied to UN Spacy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
By what!? A neck-less ship without any saucer separation, hardly any mass/volume, and super elongated warp drives sticking out in the nowhere. There is a missing scene in Nemesis were Picard cried and wished he had his Galaxy-class after he rammed the Scimitar his WHOLE starship had to be towed back for repair...- 1020 replies

Please not, I am tired of Battroid mode always being sacrificed in favour of fighter mode. -
The Unlicensed Third Party Transformers Thread

I would love to see an updated Computron, to me he always seemed like the most strongest combiner on the side of the Autobots. Besides, Computron being a G1 season 3 character means the alt modes were super fantastic to begin with and that in turn gives third parties some much more leeway.- 9240 replies

Forget the GERWALK, I want to know if the waist line in Battroid allows it swivel!?
-
Here is some I would like physical representations of. I am open to who actually makes them, although where possible I want them to be scaled model kits with full cockpit and pilot detailing (like MG or R3 line). - Super Dimension Century Orguss: Orguss, Nekick - Mobile Police Patlabor: Peacemaker, Type Zero (from Wave in 1/48 would be great, and while they are at it also re-release the bloody Patlabor!!!) - Aura Battler Dunbine: Billbine, Sirbine - The Vision of Escaflowne: Escaflowne and Alan Shezar's Guymelef - Panzer World Galiant: Galiant (TV and OVA version) - Code Geass: Lancelot Albion (enough of the stupid action figures, I just want a nice 1/48 or 1/35 scaled kit with details!!!) - Metal Armor Dragonar: Dragonar (non-stylized!), Falguen (1/100 scale with MG frame) - Five Star Stories: Junchoon and the rest (affordable 1/100 scale kits that are articulate) - Super Beast Machine Dancouga: revamped Dancouga and individual bots from "God Bless..." OVA (Bandai SOC) - Linebarrels of Iron: Linebarrel (1/100 scale) - Super Robot Wars: no particular ones, just make them 1/100 again (Kotobukiya you fail me) - Next Senki Ehrgeiz: some Mechs in here that would be nice to have - Genesis Climber Mospeada: once and for all A PROPER TRANSFORMING TOY on par with Bandai/Yamato!!!! - Heavy Metal L-Gaim: L-Gaim Mk. I to match the Mk. II from the R3 line
-
I was going to ask the same thing... I could see myself pick up another one if Yamato released one with that animation colouring.

The base body is workable, but the head and all the acid clear green plastic has to go. Hopefully Takara does this and gives it darker metallic paint trim and then it might turn out great. Anybody noticed those two yellow plastic thingies just under the windscreens, they look like the vents from the Nu Gundam And have you read THIS! The Mark II is nice, but I personally prefer the first L-Gaim more. -
It is a pity Bandai's R3 line never gave us a nice 1/100 Dragonar. I was so hoping for it.

On the topic of Hot Rod/Rodimus, what does everyone think of that waist-flap they use for him? I mean it is OK when he is standing straight, but I don't like that when you move the leg forward the whole thing has to open. I wish they had done the waist/leg setup like it is pictured in his manual, below rather than behind.- 16945 replies

I love CCA too. It has grandeur/"the final curtain is closing" thing going on. I was nice to see Amuro so grown-up/sensible/rational in the movie. Apparently that Banshee config is called "Banshee Norn". I like that Beam Magnum/Bazooka weapon. I wonder what that new backpack is?

Maybe because the molds are being used for all the different character variants Michael and now Luca etc.. Whereas with the YF-29 there are no other official variants to do, so it is free for continual reissues.

In the same boat, for us Europeans it is not just a case of what ships cheaper, but also what will customs cost me? It was my first purchase with NY and I can gladly say that it worked out great. Item was marked at 900 Yen, meaning it completely by-passed customs and went straight to my doorstep. Shipping might be slightly more expensive, but in the long run it was less expensive, compared to if I had ordered from HLJ. Europeans members bookmark this shop! They will help you with customs. Now on to my impressions of the VF-4G: Box: Standard stuff - typical Yamato design, as wide as VF-22S box with a bit more depth. Un-boxing: QC for packing these things could be a bit better. On mine the nose and one of the nacelles were not locked-in properly as well as one missile floating freely. Accessories: Minimalistic comes to mind, I think they could have thrown in a mighty block stand for the price. I have a gazillion stand adapters, but not a single stand from them. In contrast - I have two stands from the two Bandai Valks I bought. Fighter mode: Very clean, no bigger gaps to be spotted and everything locks in. So good that even the VF-22 "sleekness" pales big time. Pilot is loose in cockpit. Gerwalk: I admit to not being the biggest fan of this mode in general, but I would say it is OK. The appearance tends to give off a bit of "stiff" vibe, but maybe I just wasn't able to pull of that wide A-stance. Battroid - in general my favourite mode for Valks, hence more details here: Give me back ball joints for the feet! The pivoting is lost once you retract the feet back to the correct position for this mode. Also you cannot rotate them forward only backwards. On mine, the left foot seems to be assembled slightly crooked The bending joint in the knee area seems looser to me now, after only two transformations. If you are not careful when posing/balancing, the thing will just flop backwards from the knee joint. Arms are a bit weak on this thing. The giant shoulder pauldrons are static and hinder movement. Also no double jointed arms - think VF-11 with these. Fisted hands look a bit small to me Those gun-thingies under the forearm should have had a backward slide mechanism so the hands have a bit more freedom Torso locks nice and tight Head does not sit on a ball joint, so no sideways tilting Over all proportions in Battroid look good, slight nit-pick would be that the nose-cone is too long [*]Transformation: Very easy and intuitive. I belong to the dying breed that actually read and follow manuals whenever they get a new product. But on this one I gave up after transforming to Gerwalk and just figured it out myself. The manual itself feels like it has a lot of filler for very simple steps, but I could be wrong as I am just judging by the pictures. [*]Other stuff: Lots of fail-safes, if something pops off, then just put it back on. The two vertical stabilizers can be pulled out, so can you have those canted outward if one prefers. [*]Annoyances: MISSILES!!! Exactly why was everybody craving for this!? If these things could be setup on a stand that make it look they are being fired, then that would make sense. Otherwise it's a feature that adds no value. [*]Appearance: Should have been Hikaru's!!! I mean the VFX variant is not aggravating or anything, but it is boring at the same time. Never played the game and never will, so there is no connection or association with this variant. Final comments: The toy is great and you are not doing anything wrong if you get it. That being said, only get it if you are absolute fan of the VF-4G or completionist. Otherwise skip it, because the price is just too steep for the casual collector. My disappointment would be the presentation of whole thing; everything feels so standard other than the fact that it carries the "web exclusive" moniker. Maybe I am putting too much weight on "exclusive", but they should have gone out of their way for some "extra goodies" in one way or another, e.g. box with artwork, or teamed up with Big West to give us a DVD showcasing some short but awesome VF-4G CGI action, or maybe as mentioned a stand, more pairs of hands, Gunpods, pilots etc.. I agree, the balanced approach for nose, fuselage and cockpit on YF-30 is very welcomed. The overcompensating on all those direct predecessors never sat well with me either. I must admit this is a design that has got me geared from the start. That has not happened since the SW-XA1 Schneeblume. Battroid looks robust and streamlined, no kibble on legs and a head design that is more traditional and pleasing to the eye. I am anxious to find out whether this will be the first official Valk with a waist joint function in Battroid. The image shows a waist line and the Lego Gerwalk prototype displayed supposed left and right rotation. How many times have I picked up my VF-19 wanting to twist the upper half on way or the other...
-
Just make a plain and simple - no fancy gimmicks - mass release VF-5000, that is close the 100€ mark. That or a SW-XA1 Schneeblume would be cool.

Bandai 1/72 fully transform able VF-1 plastic kit for Macross 30th Ann
lechuck replied to Vi-RS's topic in Model kits
Clap..., clap..., clap... That's a new high mark for MW forum. Page 3 and we are blaming Gundam because of malcontent with a PROTOTYPE. If I could I would have that last word blinking and scrolling just in case you missed what those images were about. If you are an unhappy fighter mode only person, like so many others complaining here, then you can always pick up a Hasegawa (they make them in two different scales too), Wave (if you like them smaller) or stick with Yamato. Me, I hope Battroid looks great and comes with good articulation - double jointed elbows - shoulder joints that allow forward movement - maybe a waist joint - double jointed knees, so I can do kneeling pose with wings folded - hip movement that is not blocked by folded wings - ankles that allow for better/finer positioning of the feet -
Early pics it showed it as clear-clear. I am guessing it is green now because of the LED doing its thing. As for ret-conning, it is been awhile since I saw CCA but I think the Nu did glow at the end. But there was never any armor seperation. Ver.Ka are quasi official, think RX-78-2, don't like the "gummy" animation version then you can replace with the contemporary one. It is excepted. Sinanju Stein is a welcome suprise, gives me hope we will get Delta Gundam. And some more pics... (Bandai's on a roll here) MG Aile Strike [HD Remaster] MG Jesta MG Age-FX MG Age-3

It is smaller than a YF/VF-19. If there are/were any issues, then I would also have to put it down to it not being the FB2012 variant. Seriously, this is like Takara making MP Otimus Prime in black, white, camo, Pepsi and any other colour except plain red/blue, because G1 animation never showed the waist rotation as part of his transformation and therfore no licence aquired for G1 OP. In other words... Just completely lame foregoing from Yamato on this.

This thread is laking something Nu... Eventhough the amor seperation is non-canon, it still is a pretty cool feature. Now all those clear bits in the inner frame makes sense. And best of all it does not seem to distort proportions like the RX-0 in NT-D mode!

Well the year is almost over and there hasn't been a single re-issue of the VF-0 or SV-51 to capitalize on Macross 30th. So I think it is pretty safe to say those two will be getting renewals.
