The problem is that the Tread (if it even comes out) only gives it extra size in fighter mode. In battroid mode (I forget what the term was for the legioss... armo diver?) the Legioss is all by its lonesome and is pretty tiny.

i'd buy it, but only if i could drive it to work and live out of it at the same time. Drive?! That baby will FOLD to work!

What's wrong with my Yamato, Bandai, etc.
imode replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Is it just me, or has your ability to type gone down a considerable amount in the last week or so? Anyway, if that's the 1/60, then I think they're all like that. -
Who knows. Maybe this time the actual product may actually be worth the money we pay for it.
-
Let me add to that; come 2005 when the product is actually released: Fanboy 1: Sh!t, my flaps fell off. Fanboy 2: Hey, my canopy won't stay up. Fanboy 3: Hey, these farkin' engines don't even turn on! Fanboy 1: WTF this whole thing is made out of plastic! RT guy : Robotech is taking off! Meanwhile, Yamato execs are sitting pretty in retirement sipping cocktails on the beach of some caribbean island.

Rick Hunter... Jack Archer... Guld Bowman... Somone break out the dictionary of strange family names...

I think if it were possible, people would rather opt for a 1/1 "Yes? Oh that's fine Yamato, just park it in my backyard."

I think you also don't realize that people actually may want a 15" valkyrie. And don't get me wrong, I know how big 15 inches is. For some odd reason I have a 15" ruler sitting in front of me and it doesn't seem that large at all. My keyboard is longer than that... I remember playing with a GI Joe Conquest X-30 when I was young, and while it may not have been 15" long (I think it was on the larger side, however) I wasn't exactly very big either. I was probably a tiny 6 or 7 year old at that time, and I didn't find it cumbersome to handle. In fact, it was my favorite GI Joe toy ever. If 1/72 and 1/60 was good enough for everyone, then there wouldn't be scales like 1/48 and 1/32. ...However, come to think of it, this arguement is pretty pointless. You're already getting your 1/72 yf-19 so I'm not sure what the big deal is. In fact, when it comes out, if it really has as much detail as you claim it will, then I'll probably pick this up. The reason being, nothing is set in stone for the 1/48 line. There may be rumors but no one really knows if the M+ valkyries are coming out in that scale. It seems that your main worry is that if people hold out for only the 1/48 versions it would serve to detract interest from your 1/60 line and thus may affect Yamato's future plans for that scale. I don't think you have to be bothered by that, because it seems that Yamato is deliberately withholding future information about the 1/48 so that people buy their toys in a smaller scale. This way they can not only guage the interest for a particular design, but they can also force buyers to buy TWO toys, in both scales. Unscrupulous to be sure, but smart business sense on their part.

While I am in no way sure of this, something tells me that a 1/48 VF-1 with fastpacks is taller than a YF-19 battroid.

Hows about Yesasia.com? I ordered a few stuff from them a few years back, but not since they've grown so large.
-
Yeah, I hadn't even noticed it until you guys mentioned it. I think it'd look kinda goofy in fighter mode, almost like the Valk had a beak or something. The true origin of the Pink Peckers squadron!

Some people are so childish. Stop replying to this thread.

Just to clarify btw, the ve-1 in that image is not a 1/55 bandai. It's a 1/72 hasegawa. I would think that trying to achieve the same effect with your 1/55's would require a bit more work because: 1. wm chengs models look photorealistic to start with 2. the hasegawa has infinite more detail than the bandai 3. wm chengs photo taking skills/choice of lighting is very commendable 4. i don't know... but the difference in the images just merits a 4th.......

Well, I know you and I have already had a number of exchanges over this topic, but in the end it's really the opinion of the consumer. You may have a smaller house and a tinier wallet. Others may have a mansion and sleep on pillows stuffed full of $20's. In the end, even if Yamato comes out with a 1/48 M+ toy, and you don't buy it, Mr. Money-Bags is going to buy enough for both you and him, and your next door neighbors. To make it worse, probably the only thing Yamato will see is a little sheet of paper that says, "Toys R Us Japan purchased 4000 units of 1/48 YF-19." What I really don't understand is why you don't think a 15" YF-19 would make a nice display piece. I somewhat agree that a toy that large would be a little cumbersome to transform and handle, but if it's a display piece then it would just be sitting there looking pretty. If anything, a 1/48 version would be the PERFECT display piece, unless you prefer the 1/100 doyusha version? What really gets me is that even if they end up being the same physical size, the scales are all off. This will be especially evident now, seeing as how Yamato's getting into the habit of including a pilot figure with all it's new releases. Seeing a 1/72, or even 1/60 figure next to a 1/48 is just... wrong... *edit-- damn you Hurin, you edit your post and now the end sounds just like mine!

i have to agree with you there. its messed up cause everybody wants their cut. i understand but some people are just selfish and figure, "let the US retailers deal with the inflated prices...as long as i get my money i could care less". i wish this whole retarded lawsuit would be over already that way we'd all get the hook up on the nice price...including the sellers and retailers here in the US. i'm sure they wouldn't mind not having to pay a "inconvience tax" to their hooks in HK and in japan as well as getting hit with ridiculous shipping and customs fees. well this thread is coming to an end. i hope members here will hold their tongue when discussing prices for new upcoming products in the future. and if they can't....atleast lowball the figure. 1/48 1S hikaru, $100 shipped. 1/48 1J w/FP's, $125 shipped. 1/60 1J GBP, $60 shipped. 1/60 monster, $130 shipped. 1/60 q-rau, $100 shipped. 1/60 destroids, $40 shipped, if/when they come out. anything more than that, i'll wait or pass. while i enjoy macross, i don't enjoy it enough to get ripped off because of too many middlemen wanting a piece of the pie. i need a friend in HK/Japan badly. i got the hooks on nike sneakers, stussy clothing, supreme gear, if anyone out in HK or japan are down for trades, hit me up. Don't worry about that. It's not a US retailer thing only. Yamato gives a fixed price point which mainly reflects these itty bitty dealers who only purchase lots of 30 or 40 at once time. The most likely reason behind Toys R Us being so cheap is that they buy in far greater volumes and thus receive a larger discount on the price per unit from Yamato and in effect they're able to sell at a lower price and still make the same profit.

hee hee, nice one. I think we'll have to wait till 2004 to see the new 19. Oh well...

http://www.lik-sang.com/info.php?category=...oducts_id=3825& free shipping release date: Dec. 23 Dec 23!? What in the world?
-
Heh, only now I noticed that you skipped that pink/cream colored nose. Hooray for that!
-
Sounds right. Most likely they'll throw the Monster in first, just to show what they can do, then rattle off a slew of hopefully inexpensive yet most likely somewhat uninspired stuff in the middle then top it off with the grand-daddy tomahawk. Hopefully somewhere in the middle they'll start releasing enemy mecha as well.
-
To add to that, if Macross toys were ever released domestically and oficially, I strongly believe that the prices here would most likely mirror Japan TRU prices. http://cgi.www.infoseek.co.jp/cgi-bin/toys...=1&id=1-11-25-0 Now even the 1/48 naysayers can't tell me they wouldn't be tempted by a sub-$100 Low Viz, not to mention a sub-$70 Max.
-
Don't forget the Japan factor. For some reason everything that comes from there has inflated prices. Look at the price of Japanese CD's and DVD's over American ones. Look at the price of their Escaflowne toy ($70 in Japan) versus the American Toycom version ($50).
-
Most likely nothing. I think my self-indulged expenditures for this year have totalled up enough for more than a few christmases already.
-
It would be interesting to see what kind of marketting breakup their consumers fall under. "What percentage of their toys are sold to Macross fans, and what percent is sold to people who just casually picked one up off the shelf of Toys R Us, not knowing anything about it", kind of thing.
-
While that would be ideal (no one really wants to spend thousands of dollars on simple plain-jane color variations), it's bad business for Yamato. It probably costs them a fortune to go through the design and molding process. And they risk far too much by creating a custom scheme like blackroses rather than say.... making a 1A and 1S version for Hikaru beause the red and black stripes are just more well known. So as long as sales for the 1/48 vf-1 are strong we'll most likely be forced to stomach a bevy of repaints (this probably means every and all dyrl VF-1)until Yamato is ready with their next product.

I dunno. I watched through the little mpeg thing, and at the end it only says 1 player. Oh, and the part where they select the Love Drifts Away stage (TV battle against bodolza's little asteroid base), it says stage 13.
