Annabella Lasiodora (some have claimed it to be a variation or modification to the Quel-Quallie Theatre Scout.) There's also: Gjagravan Va Regult (missile pod) Glaug Fighter Pod Defender Phalanx Tomahawk Drone Fighter Ghost SB-10/10 Starwing And for ships: Factory Satellite Rorqual Stealth Submarine Hatchet Class: Destroyer Atlantic Class: Attack Ship Uraga Class Variant Escort Battle Carrier West Point Class: Macro-Training Base Ship Transport ship (that looks like the Meltraendi LST) Meltraendi Gunship There are a few more vehicles in the game too (2x ground weapon turret, 1x space turret, 1x orbital defense laser, etc..) Quite a big ream of Macross vehicles, IMHO.

Isn't it the VF-1X? There are no Strike Valkrie's, just the Super Valkyrie.

ARMD, Daedalus, or Promethius Hangar?
sketchley replied to Crazy Canuck II's topic in Movies and TV Series
There's a few scenes of the SDF:M ARMD hanger in the 2nd or 3rd episode (mostly Zentraedi lasers slicing through it.) The hangar inside of both the Daedalus and Prometheus can be found in "Macross Perfect Memory" or in one of the 3 "This is Animation: SDF:M" books. I recently picked up the "Macross Hobby Handbook" book, and it has a funky VF hangar in it - though I have yet to read the text (and I doubt if it'll say what ship the hangar is in.) -
I've only got a few more... and none with names. I have a few more for things like the FAST pack equipped VF-4, some magazine pages from Macross World on Macross M3, and the Daedulus/ARMD II spaceship from ?Macross 2036?. I'm not sure if you're looking for these as well, or not. Enjoy the pictures.

Looking for source pics and info on a VF-3/VF-X3 Star Crusader
sketchley replied to Dax415's topic in Movies and TV Series
Brief translations (most of the text is too small to be read... or at least read correctly.) VF-X3 Star Crusader (Medusa) (Ekihiya type charged particles??) beam launcher x2 3 velocity(?) Grenade Rack x2 Infared Laser System x7 Micro-missile phalanx x2 Missile Bay x6 question marks of course mean that as the source Japanese is illegible, the translation isn't 100% trustworthy. -
It's probably nothing. 'Renewals' here in Japan often mean a combination of renovation and cleaning. It may be nothing more than revising the site to incorprate Macross 0 into it. Of course, it may be something more than that... next year is the big 25...

Yes... bad posture, from seeing all the incredulous changes going on in these forums...

Wow... I've been hit too... ... just noticed after reading this thread, and getting a hunch. Yay me...

Because that's what it is in Japanese: リガード. Rigaado is the romanization in modified Hepburn. The mildly amusing thing is that on pg. 168, of Macross Perfect Memory, next to the Japanese katakana, is 'Regult' in big, block letters. I am, once again, impressed by the language translating abilities of Animeigo.

There were 3 other Zentraedi battlesuit images that I found at the same time, and from the same source. They are: Zen1: ギルーザ フリー Giruuza Furii (Gilza Free?) Zen3: シグノミュ Shigunomyu (Shignomyu?) Zen4: シュルケル ガー Shurugeru Ga (Shurgel Ger?)
-
Funny... I've seen the art for it recently - though don't ask me where I found it in the net... The katakana on the image is ãƒã‚°ãƒ¬ãƒ³ã€€ãƒãƒ¼ Using the Modified Hepburn system of romanization, it's Roguren Rou in English. In Macross English... maybe Rogren Rau?

Not enough of a demand? They figure that the serious builders out there would kit-bash either the fighter or the jet (or both!) and make a gerwalk mode for themselves?

One exists for 0083. If I remember, the next time I am in Den-den town, I'll see if the local Mandarake has a 0080 100% collection book or not.

I have the 2003 book. As the scans of it indicate, it is fairly comprehensive, but there isn't very much on individual mobile suits - slightly more for the more famous ones. The book has put a few MS in spots that I didn't find logical - but I'm not a big Gundam fan, so I may be missing the justification used. I recommend it, if you want the lineart of virtually all of the Gundam MS in one book.
-
I think it all comes down to preference. If one wants only the lineart, and especially some documentation on how the artist went through the design process (from various rough drafts to the final), then the design works are the ones to look into. For only finished artwork, Tenji Hidetaka's book is the better buy. Especially as it contains a Macross Zero CG art min-book/gallery near the end of the book. Sadly, there isn't very much on how Hidetaka goes through the process of actually creating his works of art.

Don't you mean: human, Zentraedi, and Supervision Army? -
How Does Shoji Kawamori Rate As A Mecha Designer?
sketchley replied to UN Spacy's topic in Movies and TV Series
Ah... I was refering to their jet modes only. The battroid mode of the Fz-109 was designed by Kazutaka Miyatake. So, any big differences stem from that (two different people.) The Fbz-99 is another story altogether. Perhaps it was Kawamori attempting to create a battroid mode reminiscent of Kazutaka's 2 Varuta battroids? -
How Does Shoji Kawamori Rate As A Mecha Designer?
sketchley replied to UN Spacy's topic in Movies and TV Series
I have no problems with the Fz-109, and Fbz-99, as they have just the right amount of both thick, and panel lines, for the shapes of the airframe to be understood. IMHO, Macross 7 contains some of Kawamori's best work since SDF:M, as the designs are all visually simple, yet complicated. Yes, anime magic is present in all of Kawamori's designs, but I have yet to see some type of entertainment where the designs are not distorted in some way (take out a wall here to make a better shot, move the seat to the left in the cockpit to get a better shot, etc..) Moving beyond Macross, IMHO, his work in Cyber Formula is also good. Yes, I don't like the racing cars, but the designs are again, simple, but complex. (Funny that Cyber Formula is another TV series...) He also did some great easy-to-decypher designs for Patlabor 1, Patlabor 2, and Ghost in the Shell. So yeah, just his dorsal of the SV-51 has too much extraneous line action going on (that confuses the basic shape), for me. -
Love Triangles Over Done In Macross?
sketchley replied to SpacyAce2012's topic in Movies and TV Series
Aren't the three essential elements of any show that make it Macross: 1) anti-war message 2) love triangle 3) music ??? I think looking at the music is more interesting. (As they all (or mostly all) have orchestral music, it isn't being included.) SDF:M, DYRL, Flashback 2012: Macross does J-pop Macross Plus: Macross does techno/industrial Macross 7: Macross does rock Macross Zero: Macross does opera -
How Does Shoji Kawamori Rate As A Mecha Designer?
sketchley replied to UN Spacy's topic in Movies and TV Series
? Huh? That makes no sense - especially as there is substance in eugimon's post. As for my 2 cents on the topic - you can do a lot worse than Kawamori. At the very least, Kawamori is attempting to be realistic, and add realistic elements to his design. His worst design, IMHO, is the line-art of the jet mode of the SV-51: a complaint of there being too many lines which confuse the overal shape of its dorsal surface is valid. Yes, computers allow for more complex things, but sometimes they allow people to go too far into the realms of complexity. -
Design works tends to tell about the process of creating the design, and not much more. In this case, interviews will be more telling of his opinion.
-
I remember that 'zine. Wah... have times changes since back then. I was doing some more thinking on the VF-4, and I think that Kawamori is unhappy with it. My supposition is based on later incarnations of basically the same jet mode shape, in the VF-14, and Fz-109.

Slight hijack to an earlier comment in this thread: I can't comment on the PS2 game, but with VF-X, and VF-X2, the only challenge I had was the 3rd level of VF-X - figuring out what you have to do, while not getting killed by the two bosses was frustrating as hell. But let's not dabble on VF-X. In VF-X2, once you've figured things out, it's pretty straightforward. The only game effecting choice is in mission 9: either attack Gilliam or not. Attacking him means getting the quicker ending. Not attacking him, gets the longer one, with the cinematic attack of the Macross 13. Otherwise, scortched Earth tactics work well, but take care not to get into the blast radius of the reaction missiles...

Given it's lack of appearance in anime, and games*, I think it is rather unfavoured. Personally, I rate it's artistic merit as high as I do of the VB-6, and Variable Glaug. All 3 of them had alternative modes designed at least a decade after they were originally finalized. It is relatively easy to design all 3 modes at the same time (and ammend the other modes as needed), then the relatively harder process of being stuck with the bits and peices of one mode, because they have become cannon. I like some of the other VFs more (the ones in Macross 7, because of they are both simple and complex at the same time,) but the VF-4, VB-6, and Variable Glaug are, IMHO, the more imaginative designs. *Flashback 2012, and VF-X1. Funny that it does appear in Kikimoto's manga... and is one only a few VFs to actually appear in the manga too!
