Here you go... 401602 Bandai valkyries on the USS Flagg .... sweet!!!!
-
Still consider myself a newbie 1/48 Yamato owner - but so far, they've been great to play around with and are pretty durable. Like others have said - the 1/55 Bandai's are way more sturdy - but the 1/48's are simply way, way, better! Both in detail, functionality, and appearance. Love 'em!!
-
Ginrai - Well, feel free to post your Bandai #'s on this thread ...
-
Welcome to the forums AC Starscrem ... from a fellow newbie!! Yes, please let us know if the Valkyrie shipped ok - just curious, which vendor did you use? And was the price of $165 with shipping? Thanks!
-
I missed out on getting a reissued VF-1S "Super" Valkyrie with the fast packs ... would love to get one!!!
-
Another question: what's better, Toynami made or Yamato made fast packs for their respective valkyries? Or am I going to get "yelled at" for even trying to compare the two? I just got a Yamato FP set with the stealth and love 'em!! I don't own the Toynami fast packs, because I was really let down by their MPC valks, so I am just curious to get feedback from those of you who do own 'em. I've seen the sets sell on eBay for almost twice the cost of the Yamato versions!! Poor uninformed bidders ....
-
People are buying them you should too. 401533 I've a tight budget and small wallet!! LOL I'd rather save the case to acquire more valks! At least for now ....
-
Thanks for the reference to the other thread Godzilla. And holy crap you have a lotta valks!! 12 stealths and 8 LV 2s, you have got to be kidding, right?
-
I hope they do .... please Yamato!!! I want a Max DYRL Vf-1A!!! Whoops, apologies for the double post.

Ha ha ha ... too true!
-
I'm not a big fan of the Low Viz 2 paint scheme. Maybe the reason why it has a white antenna is because Yamato was sitting on a huge backstock of cannon fodder 1/48's - so to clear them out, they "reissued" them under the Low Viz 2 label? Are the tan paint schemes the same? Just a thought .....
-
Man, I am soooo jealous of your collections ..... I am such an amateur ... too many "big league" collectors here ....
-
Just noticed your reply ... thanks jenius!!
-
What's a chunky? Is it referencing the 1/55 Bandai fighters? They are good, no?
-
Before members start yelling at me, I know I saw a thread weeks (months?) ago asking people to list how many valkyries they own, but I couldn't find it in the forum search to continue the thread. So I started a new one. I am a big Macross fan, but it is difficult to justify to the wife getting more valkyries. She says "they look the same, just with a different style head and paint scheme". Sigh. A shame, since I only just recently, finally, got a 1/48 Yamato and love it!! Need to get more .... Q) How many valkyries do you own? Please list. I have: 2x 1/48 Yamatos 4x 1/55 Bandai reissues 2x 1/55 Toynami MPC (with regret) Maybe if enough of you post, I can prove that I am just a "rookie" amateur collector ....
-
Thanks for referencing that thread ... interesting debat to say the least. "just like how people were asking $1000 for a chunky monkey to exploit desperation" What's a chunky monkey that I've seen referred to in numerous posts?
-
Thanks for the reply. Guess I will keep looking at the forums and see if anyone decides to make some more.

Got my stealth over the weekend ... man, it is sweet!! A great looking version of the valkyrie, even if it isn't part of the Macross cannon!! For those of you who think the paint scheme looks lame - trust me, the pics do not do the item justice!! It was also my first chance to play/handle the "fast pack strike/super" parts that Yamato makes .. way cool! Now I know what the rest of you are talking about when you say they make the 1/48 valkyries "complete". I can't believe the detail in the missles and the engine parts ... amazing!! I know, I know ... I sound like a total lame newbie - apologies!! Now I am intrigued by the GDB armour ... would love to buy a set - but man, they are almost the same cost as a 1/48 valkyrie!! And I need to build my collection!
-
Half of yours didn't come with heatshields? ??? 401202 Yeah, what gives with the no heat shields?! That must have been annoying!!! Hope you got replacements or something. Can you tell me which models?
-
Thanks for all the feedback folks - appreciate it. I'm actually on the fence - right now, I only own two 1/48's and haven't applied the decals ... yet. I doubt that I would put all of 'em on, but I was thinking of applying the RDF kite logos by the cockit window and maybe the fighter ID #'s in key spots. I just don't want my $150 (yeah, I know, I probably paid too much for 'em) investment turning into crap if the stickers peel off after awhile is all.
-
Thanks for the very informative post about the 1/48 hand types and where they are available. I'd love to get more of type 3 - anyone know if Yamato sells them separately? Since I can't read japanese, I wasn't sure if the beginning of the transformation instruction book (where they show you how to apply decals) was also a parts list.
-
Ok, sorry if this is a dumb newbie question: but what's the deal with the custom decals? I've seen several posts now where someone creates custom decals for the 1/48 Yamato valkyries. They look cool, but ... Question is, why? Are the stickers included with the 1/48's crap and I am just naive in thinking I should use those to apply on my valkyrie?!?! Is there something I should be aware of - e.g., like not using them b'c they will peel off in 3 months? What gives? Can someone fill me in here, please?!?
-
Count me in on the "please re-issue your classic 1/55 valkyries Bandai" bandwangon!! Man, I love those toys!! I got 4 of the recent re-issues (Hikaru, Max, Miriya, and DYRL Hikaru) and love 'em!! Still gotta get a Fokker, but then I recently discovered the amazing 1/48 Yamatos!! I drool everytime I see a Strike, Elint, & Ostrich 1/55 Bandai on eBay!!
-
Wow, you've built quite the collection in a short while - cool! I am jealous! I bought my first 1/48 Yamato this month - it is sweet! Am hoping to build up a decent collection soon, but it's tough on the budget!! As for how fast I can transform the valkyrie - it's good to read that many of you felt the same as I did the first time I transformed it. Took me almost 2 hours!! And now after a few weeks, it takes me about 15 mins or so. I still get scared of possibly breaking a piece, but feel confident that I know what I am doing. Can't wait to maybe get a VF-0S ... but it looks like I'll have to learn another transformation method ... cool.
