WOOOOWW!! Sounds like a deep touching highly-dramatic well-thought-off plot-twisting brain-depriving story/script..... NOT!!!! Guess I'll let it go unnoticed unless I get a VERY reliable recomendation for it

Street Fighter II: The Later Years
Garou Kuroryuu replied to Apollo Leader's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Or maybe DEAD. That's a sad future for most sumo wrestlers after retirement, due to high cholesterol, fat and heart-fatigue conditions. Oops, this was supposed to be a funny thread, rite? My mistake! -
You're just a bunch of pervs!!! Errr.... where do I sign to join in?

For what it's stated in the series and it appears, it actually does. It seems like Zentran's main guns' range are around a stable orbit from Earth (50,000 km at most?), while the Macross blasts the 2 scout ships Vlrithai sends from Earth's atmosphere and up to around half way to moon orbit (150,000 km?). Also, if the Zentran believed the Macross to be a powerfull opponent, even in the hands of microns, it may have been for a reason, not just luck. The SA gunshps seem to pack quite a punch. We can still check what the Macross Compendium has to say about it.

There already is a DOA movie. I'm not a big fan of Devon Aoki, but I must admit she's got a cute little butt. 396236 Yeah, DOA movie should be out soon (if not out already).... but man!, even the girls casting SUCK big time!! There's no way to save that "movie".... hell, even that "german director" may have chosen better l( o )( o )king girls, if you know what I mean Anyway.... Jet Li is the best option for a character in a fighting-game-based movie... What? you wanted Van Damme? ¬¬

It is. This is entirely targeted to kids between 9-15 years of age. There is a gigantic fanbase here in CA. Not too long ago they had a sold-out event at one of the major forums here. The only reason I know about this, is that many of our customers ask for these characters to be scanned or drawn on to their cakes. I just don\'t get why they have those wierd tattoos on their faces. 394875 I think the tatooes are takes/copied from Final Fantasy characters (one of the guys has one on the cheek that looks almost like Zell's, from FF8). I only like the red-haired girl... IRL, of course And yeah... it's ironic that the main fanbase of this "thing" is low class teenagers, when the characters are all rich momma-boys with fancy mobile phones and expensive clothes (and VERY SHORT skirts for the girls ).

My mistake! You're right. I just recall I saw one CF in an outdoor market about a month ago, but it was $240 USD. That's waaaaaaaay too much expensive for a CF, if you ask me.
-
BEAUTIFUL!!!!! Don't you by any chance feel the urge to sell it? By the way... she's got quite a nice..... errr.... asset
-
I thought there were no 1/48 CF's.... are there????? I'd rather spend my money on the Super Stealth than in this.... this... ummm.... thing, yeah, that!

Supervision Army / Other Zentradi Fleets
Garou Kuroryuu replied to Cabbit Commando's topic in Movies and TV Series
Wow! Very nice piece of "evidence" I agree that the SA ships, if we follow the leads, look a lot like the ASS-1/SDF-1, just more rounded, but keeping the overall look-alike design. Even if the ship upfront differs from the ASS-1 main body design, it still resembles a lot the ASS-1 bridge/island super structure, and that "arm" like support seems like the bridge could also move from side to side in a certain way. Funny that you had found that in the Homotech's site -
It seems to be a Stealth Strike variant. A super-deluxe, in fact. Awesome! Damn! I want one of those too

Robotech Size Charts For Mecha, Ships And Vehicles
Garou Kuroryuu replied to wolframbane's topic in Fan Works
Totally agree. The Valk is quite higher than the "average" Zentran soldier. Just take a look at the comparative size of Breetai (this spelling is a lot easier than the original ) with the lower Zentran soldiers than come to his "aid" when he is blasted away by Hikaru's Valk self-destruction inside Breetai's flagship. And during the hand-to-hand fight Hikaru had with him, both Breetai and the Valk looked like similar in height. -
Jeez.... guess I'll wait for a full production on-item review, since it's very possible that the 0 will show up in the next anime convention here in May, and I bet it'll be for no less than $200 bucks... so I need to be pretty sure it's worth the money before buying it.

Aurora? F-19? fighter? Mmmm, I believe you're mixing stuff here. Yes, I've read about the Aurora. No, I haven't read about the F-19. What I'm sure thou, is that I had NEVER heard of the presumably Aurora black project being a fighter plane. All of the books and sources that mention the Aurora (that I've read) state that it would be an SR aicraft, basically the succesor for the SR-71 Blackbird, but never anything close to it being a fighter.

I agree. It's a paradigm change that the USAF is foreseing and pushing forward. Hoever, even with the upgrades of missile tech, there's also the fact that countermeasures and higher-manuverability makes a fighter harder to be shot down from afar, at least speaking of closely similar planes (same generation). I agree that trying to achieve VBR kill will be first rule in the book for every pilot in following years, but ending up in short-range (1-10 mi) fighting will still be present, in my opinion. EDIT: Ha!, Shin beat to the reply

I'm not surprised at all of the events the article relates. Russian (former Soviert) fighter planes have been specifically designed for dogfight, particularly the Su-27 Flanker and its variants and derivations (30, 33, 35 and 37). What has always being criticized in Russian fighters (and for good reason) is the lack or scarse presence of top-of-the-line sensors, digital controls and displays. This, however, have little effect in dogfight. And even this might be changing. The Su-47 is a lot closer to American fighter planes in terms of digital controls, sensors and semi-stealth features, and it's even considered the direct Russian counterpart to the Raptor, even if it still in a development phase. Plus it has what is perhaps the best manuverability performance of any existing fighter in the world. American fighters from the 18 and ahead, on the other hand, were designed more for VBR fighting, depending mostly on medium-long range radars and medium range air-to-air missiles (AIM-120), expecting to kill the enemy before any potential counter-attack. When the Raptor was on development, and rumor went out from time to time about it, there was some documented rumors that it would not include an internal machine gun, since it would completely depend on medium-range AA missiles for anti-aircraft combat, and no dogfight capability would be needed. Good the designers changed their mind. @Skull Leader: Thanks for clarifiying the info on the F-14 status. I thought there were still a couple of squadrons flying the Valk..... errrr, the Tomcat, I mean
-
Yes, the Raptor would replace the F-15Cs as the front-line fighter for the USAF. There's no official news on the 23 going into production in any way yet, that I know of. The F-15E Strike Eagles would still be the main attack aircraft, the F-117 being the "special-ops" precision-bomber of the USAF. My suggestion on making the 23 a dual-role aircraft (stealth interceptor / stealth deep precision-striker) was only theoretical. In my crazy idea, this could allow the 23 to replace both the Strike Eagle and the Nighthawk. On the JSF : - F-35A CTOL will replace USAF F-16 C / D and A-10s. - F-35B STOVL will replace USMC's F/A-18s and AV-8B Harrier II STOVL fighters. - F-35C CV (carrier variant) will replace all USN's F-14s and F/A-18 C / D variants, complementing the carrier air wing along the F/A-18E/Fs.

That would be such an interesting move. The USAF was looking for an "air-superiority" fighter, when the ATF contest was rised. The Raptor was designed specifically for that role (CAP, airspace control / dominance and dogfight-enabled). The Black Widow, on the other hand, was more interceptor oriented, for the what I know of its performance. Catch up on enemy aircraft undetected, fire from BVR (Beyond Visual Range), kill and run away undetected. Its airframe, speed, stealth features and weaponry were thought more on that scenario than what the Raptor is. There's also the money issue. I think that the 23 could be revamped, and (perhaps) make it a more multirole capable fighter. It's main role would still be stealth interceptor, but I believe it could also perform excellent as a deep precision-attack plane to replace the F-117. They both share stealth features, plus the 23 could carry more armament (could replace the AIM-120 with GBU's, CBU's or MK-84), enter/leave the fighting area in less time due to a far higher speed and higher operation ceiling. And it looks a lot cooler than both the Raptor or the Nighthwk Paint it in dark blue with yellow lines and we got ourselves a non-variable VF-22 EDIT: Ha! Apollo Leader just beat me to the reply. Mmmm, guess my idea is not that far off, then. I would have made a good aeronauthical engineer after all. (j/k)

I totally go with Skull Leader and Knight. Modern bombers don't rely on defensive weapons for protection, but on undetection tech (stealth features being one of them). - Avoiding radar detection, either by stealth design, RAM, radar-jamming or radar-coverage avoidance. Even better if all us3ed together, either by the plane itself or with other planes' support (EC-130, E-3, EA-6B). - Avoiding IR detection, mosly by reducing exhaust gases temperature, or placing the engine nozzles over the main airframe (like the YF-23 did). I've read of a couple of ways to reduce exhaust gases heat. One is by "refrigerating" the gases before they leave the nozzle, and the other one is "wrapping" the hot gases with a cool "pipe" of air. Strangely, this is something the airlines do, AFAIK, since the design of the newest airliner engine gondoles have this "cool exhaust" about half the length of the gongole. This also helps reduce the noise of the engine. I think this could be used by the A-10, since it's more prone to be shot at from portable IR-seeking SAM's and it already got airliner-like engine gondoles. - Avoiding visual detection. Well, fly at night (better if clouded and no visible moon) and use black paint. Mate gray is also usefull, if day-time flight is unavoidable. - Avoiding noise detection. Reduce the noise of the engines and, if possible, don't fly supersonic. The boom might be heard AFTER the planes passes over a place, but it deffinitively tells everybody a plane just passed. Overall, modern bombers don't (and won't, as I see it) carry defensive weapons any more. If detected, the only options a bomber has are: - Run as fast as the plane can from the hot spot. - Pray he won't be catched upon by any fighter in the vecinity. - Pray any counter-measure the plane carries is worth the bucks it costs.

Yeah. The hidden-gun was something revealed some time ago. It's even reflected in games as in Ace Combat 4 and 5. It's said that the Raptor highly surpases the good old Eagle. Wouldn't think the USAF would go to replace the Eagles with the Raptor if that was not the case. Still, I believe the Black Widow (YF-23) was a far better looking aircraft. Thou the role orientation was somewhat different from the Raptor, and that was the main reason the USAF went to select the Raptor as their front line fighter. Shame.

Pics From Silent Hill Movie
Garou Kuroryuu replied to bsu legato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Is that already official????? NICE!!!!! It means it'll be C here (Mexico's version of R rating). No stupid high-schoolers yelling and screaming at the theater, so I won't have to "silence" anyone *caresses folding-batton* EDIT: Mmmm, just check the official site... it still says "Not rated". -
Awesome pic! Is it any familiar ship the one being blown up sky-high in the pic? Or just an unlucky one being direct-hit? Don't recall seeing that particular pic before.

That would be awesome!!! a 6-feet-long Prometheus making it's maiden trip... WOW!
