Does anyone else think that by this season finale (not mid season) that they will land some place relatively safe? My guess is yes if only to get another time jump in for Carl, they will need a 2 year jump soon the way he is growing up. My guess is that it can be a good plot device too, time jump 2 years and everyone has let their guard down a bit, let the action ramp up again.

Thanks for posting the first delivery pics. There will be a build thread with instructions fairly soon, I am anxious to get mine put together after all these years of waiting to finish this.... thanks mike
-
Hopefully the circles are just on a test shot, I bet they can still be ground off the mold since they are recessed. If not it's a strange choice to have those there.
-
Still available, I will get back to any PM's soon, just wanted to wait until they were rolling out. mike

First kit shipped, even with the rotocasting and attempts to save weight, this thing is still 16lbs packed up!!! More leaving soon. thanks BTW love the idea of spider nose art, i will run it by my buddy Jason who is doing the art!

http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=41638&hl=monstar You can really make payments any way you want, the installment idea was just to spread the payments out for those who found it convenient. thanks mike

Yep, everything is up and running, pics of the very first full kit. Only thing not in the picture is the plastic cannon barrels, they will be included just need to run and grab some. These will start shipping in the next few days. This thing is massive, check out the size compared to a full size spray can... thanks mike

Thanks again guys, the molds are pretty much done, that meaning that everything has at least 1 mold, some stuff needs multiple molds because the kit requires like 2 or 4, but those are easy as it's just setting the mold box back up and pouring rubber. That means, barring any more unforeseen delays, this will be in production next week. Decal art is still in the works, and i may need to send decals out at a later date if i can't get them printed quickly. I have been casting legs, bodies, arms etc a lot and the parts are staring to pile up, so i will want to start shipping pretty quickly! thanks again mike

Great, thanks for the support guys, just to be clear it will be available to those here who want it. I am just not going to extend the run out indefinitely, limited until theirs is available. I had a couple of other 1/72nd kits i wanted to get working on, but if there is a new game in town for that stuff i will need to think about heading back to 1/48 stuff.

Just to be clear, I'm still finishing the molds and doing this for anyone who wants one between now and like the end of the year. General rule of garage kits, no competing.

Hey Guys, just saw this..... .http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=41800&page=1 So i will be only doing mine for those that have already contacted me. If you want to opt out of my kit please let me know, and i will be happy to send back any deposits made. I only have 2 or 3 quick molds to make then i will be done. I'll wrap mine up in quick order and shelf it. Thanks for everyone's support, mike

Bodies and arms are in production out of the rotocaster now. The body even rotocast is still almost 2lbs of material, it's partially foam filled for rigidity. I only have 3 or 4 molds left to do, so this thing is just about done and ready for full production. I will PM everyone on the list soon, but in the meantime anyone on the payment plan can feel free to send payment for the arm installment. Should be in full swing by the end of the month if not sooner. thanks mike

Even building the mold box as close to the pattern as is safe, this is a massive mold, more expensive than i care to think about. that is a full size spray can in there. Almost 100% done on the pattern, art for the decals is being worked on by my buddy Jason Eaton and will be sent off to JT as soon as i can. thanks mike

as far as the main scratchbuilding, yep pretty much done, just tweaks and little bits on stuff. I hope to have all the molds up in about a week and a half. In the meantime i have been casting leg and arm parts every chance i get. thanks mike

Other than a few stray scratches that need fixing, main body is ready for molds. That has been a long time coming and right now (assuming the mold comes out ok) is a big relief to have finshed. thanks mike

Stress test looks good! I have about 80% of the weight on it and it looks pretty darn solid. I will likely start a for sale thread over the weekend. thanks mike -
Wow, very sorry to hear that. I can't even imagine dealing with an issue for that long with no resolution! So quick update, I had to get 2 emergency infusions of antibiotics for what turned out to be an infected poisonous spider bite, I am on the mend and cautiously optimistic it will be ok. On the monstaar front, arm patterns and molds are done. I did a test cast on the arms and all systems seem to be a go. Finishing the last bits of details on the body belly etc now, still hope to be mid October for the full thing up and running. Pics when i can find a minute, playing catch up from my downtime a bit this week. thanks mike

Hey Guys, sorry i have been dealing with a bit of a health issue, not model related, I have a mrsa skin infection, likely from the gym, I may need to be hospitalized tomorrow. I will update everyone as I can. thanks mike

I won't be finishing my own build until the weapons set is released. I was planning on making my own UMM7 to finish this but there is no point in that now, I can wait a bit. I just want to do a stress test on the arm then i can start selling to you guys. I am almost 100% that it's fine, but want to make sure. Ultimately it would be up to the builder to make sure that the arm and components are pinned and secure, but i want to be sure that it won't be my fault if anything goes astray. The mold for this are 100% done, so I will try to get around to a quick test soon so I can get it in your hands soon. Price is up in the air but will be very reasonable for something as big as the arm and base are in 1/48. thanks mike -
Started a formal FS thread. http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=41638 I know many of you have PM'd me already about interest in a kit, but please send a new PM now that i am taking orders so that i do not miss anyone. This is a very limited kit and as far as i am concerned right now I am only doing this one set of molds. It's so expensive to produce i am just hoping to break even and call it a day on this kit. Arm pattern is done and molds for that start this weekend. thanks everyone. mike

Arm cannon pattern is detailed and done. This part will be rotocast, much easier for the modeler compared to the V1 with the split parts, and hollow casting will make it easier for the arms to hold the part up. thanks mike
-
Remold on those 2 parts are done, need a day for post cure on them but i am up and ready to start casting legs. I will make a FSale thread tomorrow. thanks mike
-
I will likely just offer all three shipping and payment options, I will post payment info soon. I need just another day or so, I made the decision to remold a couple of parts. The issue was that on a couple of parts the rivets were too deep, they were made from foam and even with the lightest touch the rivets were too deep, it was distracting. I took the first castings of those parts and will re do the rivets today and remold tomorrow, it will only be a delay of a couple of days. These are the only parts i should have that issue with, I made them before i was using renshape for stuff this size. I actually just poured the first arm part mold so I am still being productive on this thru the delay. thanks miek

So i am running into a quandary in regard to doing this in 3 installments. The issue being that for the first installment the packed weight is 8 pounds, yep it's a lot of resin just for the legs! The issue is that and 8 pound box going to say Germany, is $60 in shipping. The other 2 installments will be lighter but bigger boxes. So the issue is that in 3 installments an out of USA shipping total will approach $150-$180. However a 15 pound box, which is my my estimated total shipping weight for a full kit, would only be like $80. So splitting it into 3 installments and shipping them in 3 boxes, will add $100 to the total price for out of USA. USA is not so bad but a bit of the same issue, 3 boxes will run about $75 in shipping but one big box will be only about $35.00 So before i start a payment thread there are a couple of options for you guys to think about. Do you want 3 installments, 3 boxes with the added shipping cost. Or 1 full kit payment when it's done, then ship one big box, saving on shipping. Or option 3, take payments for each installment, thus spreading out the payments, but hold shipping until the whole kit is done. In the #3 option i would be casting your parts as soon as i get payment, but holding them here for 1 big shipment. I can also offer any of the 3 above options, but if everyone prefers one over the other, it may be easier to just have everyone on the same page. Let me know what you guys think,. thanks mike
