  1. Great Job Shan, I really like the 1/48 head, it is really almost the same size as the Chris B head only, like you said, it has the neck. Once again Awesome.....
  2. I'm not sure about the putty you are using but I thin squadron putty with a little acetone (nail polish remover) it makes it easier to get the putty into the seams by utilizing capillary action. You would be less likely to get the putty on the panel lines in around the seam.
  3. http://f1.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/salzo2200....com/salzo22000 Check this link for some bigger pics, I could not get yellowman's site to take the bigger pics.... The enigma is 2 colors, any color variation is just the camera, I based it off of the hasegawa enigma in the magazine section. The head is painted, just not weathered much yet. I just need to paint the gunpod and decal the right booster and it is pretty much done. thanks everyone. PS if too many people are on the yahoo folder at once it will tell you it is not working, just wait a couple of minutes and go back. thanks again mike
  4. http://www.yellowlightman.com/mfc/index.php?cat=10014 see the link to see some pics (a little grainy, sorry) this custom is for Vermillion one and I used devin's decals, definatly a challenge with the 2 tone and the full transformation......a couple of finishing touches to go but pretty much done..... let me know what you guys and gals think mike
  5. My only precaution would be to watch the layering of the paint, the panel lines are on the fine side and could get flooded easy if you are not careful (I know I ruined one!). the panel lines are so pretty you will want to make sure that you can see them. Good luck and let us see it when you are done.....
  6. Congrats on the one on the way, is it the first? If it is you don't know what you are in for Congrats again Rob.
  7. I kinda liked it, there is so little on TV that I have a chance to watch but it was kind of cool.......

    Spare parts from HLJ

Well, I'd buy at least 2 just to feel safe. I don't want my low viz nightmare to happen again. Count me in, and while you're at it, could you recast the TV hands of the VF-1j ? hehe. Thanks I will definatly be recasting the hands, once I have the 1j hands in my hands (hehe) I may try a size match with some DYRL style square hands.

    Spare parts from HLJ

There is actually a resin that I have used before that ends up about as strong as keyboard plastic, it is intended for casting plastic gears and such. if there are enough people who need the part and are willing to paint the part I could give it a try........let me know what you guys think. mike
  10. Don't think anyone mentioned this one yet but does anyone remember The Wraith, Charlie Sheen ends up running over Ron Howard's brother with a magic space car with a Crystler (sp?) hood emblem on it.
  11. For the Yamato 1/60 TRU edition, i paid $90 for my first one used and $30 for my second one brand new, the value dropped alot with the release of the standard brown one.

    1/48 canopy removal

The only way to do it is to hack off the top part that covers the canopy from the fuselage, if you do it with a back of a dull exacto knife you will get less material loss than a razor saw but it is still a bit risky.
  13. http://www.yellowlightman.com/mfc/index.php?cat=10014 see if this link to yellowlightman's site works for you guys....
  14. Just wanted to share my latest commisioned custom that I finished, has the same as the one I did a couple of months ago....just need to glue the canopy to the hindge and I'm pretty much done...let me know what you think custom nose with USV pilot my recast strike cannon resized from 1/48 USV resized recast UMM7 removable missles Devin's AWESOME decals custom gunpod/landing gear. clear canopy recast resin head from the 1/48 USV, tuck in nice... rubber rear tires
  15. Had the same idea and ordered them, the 1/35 hands are smaller than the yamato 1/60 hands, don't waste your $. mike
  16. Depending on how rough there is one thing you can try, I read it over at starshipmodeler. Paint it with thick latex/house paint. this will fill in much more than any type of modeling paint and will hopefully leave you with only some minor divits/scratches/etc to fill with squadron putty. I would use a flat house paint, using gloss could result in adhersion problems with the following layers of paint/putty that will go above it. Also test the compatibilities of all the paints on a peice of cardboard or such. Good luck
  17. Just wondering, the only thing I found was at Valk exchange and it says fall 2003?
  18. as far as the legs are concerned, there are only 2 screws, one under a rubber plug rivet at the top of the leg, that is not glued, and under an easily removable rectanglular panel, the rivet that is superglued does not need to be removed to disassemble the leg.

    vf1a hikaru mod

I did it, drill the holes, swap the backpack witht the 1j, swap the lower arms (no need to remove any screws they pop out) paint on the black striped on the arms. Done. Good luck if you want it to be the Hikaru, you may want to do it with a max 1a and paint all the blue to red, the base colors do not match from the hikaru 1a to the 1j
  20. I'm pretty excited to check out the new show, I'm trying to keep an open mind about it. I am also looking forward to the Game, it may not be perfect, but I've been waiting 20 years to blow up some cylons, kind of like waiting1 18 years to fly a valk (battlecry)
  21. It's dirtier than the pics show, for some reason my digital cam sometimes shows things dirtier than they are and sometimes cleaner, must be time of day or something.
