  1. Oh boy is it June already , plans are still to get this done, just got behind after a vacation and a kitchen remodel..still thinking about it all the time, i just need to get a week where i can get the bulk of the body done and the rest should be fun.......i promise it is still on my projects list
  2. should have some progress in the next couple of weeks, i have cleared my plate of some other stuff that needed to get done first...i will post in the other thread when the time comes.... mike
  3. The next 2 weeks or so for me will be going full tilt on a couple of projects that need to get finished, after that i will be devoting some time to this...believe me i am still fired up about the project, i hope to get caught up on a few other things to really devote some time to this soon. mike
  4. Got to be Kirk for me....he laid down a world of hurt for Kahn in the series and a movie, gave the Gorn a beating to remember, outwitted Romulas by getting some pointy ears glued on, blew up a number of computers by challenging them with a paradox (YOU ARE IN ERROR....FULLFILL THE PRIME DIRECTIVE )...and speaking of the prime directive......Kirk pretty much wiped his nose with it..in The Apple, he is talking about not interfering with the primitives and 10 seconds later he punches one in the mouth (YOU STRUCK ME.....WITH YOUR HAND ) ...in Assignment Earth he pretty much travels back in time just to see what was going happening on earth in 1969 (or to check out terri garrs legs )...... Picard is cool, but a little to wimpy for me....at least compared to JTK.....
  5. Just wanted everyone to know that i am just getting back to biz this week, my bad cold turned into a really bad ear infection (believe it or not i may have permanent hearing damage from the infection ). anyway project is still on, just need to catch up on some stuff...... thanks mike
  6. I should have some more stuff next week for this, right now i have a really bad cold and am kind of crashed on the couch
  7. It will be largely hollow, so the weight will not be anywhere near as the other 1/72, once i get to casting i plan on doing a photo guide on how to build, for parts that will have any real weight on them the parts will be made so that it will be easy to use brass pins to strengthen up the joint. I am also trying to cast the parts in a way that the different color parts are seperate, to minimize the masking, the only real exception will be the white on the cannon, but the light green and the dark green will be seperate parts.
  8. Here you go, we should all have an idea of how big a jetfire booster is , keep in mind that this is only the forward half of the arm cannon. off to the side you can see the start of the foot, that part is only upper part of the foot, so if it does not look quite right size wise, don't worry. I will not get to work on this much this week as my supplies for some other projects are in, but I will try to get some little stuff done here and there..in fact this is the project i can work on after my daughter goes to bed.....it does not require any loud aircompressor
  9. Ok, i got into a situation where i am completly out of supplies for other projects until thursday so last night i played around a bit with the forward part of the cannon, this by no means is this part done, just a start. As you can see the cannon will be largely hollow, with 2 halves, the routed out part of the outside of the cannon will get some guts and a panel to cover it if you do not want to paint the guts. the front of the arm cannon will get a "cap" with the detail of the 3 barrels. all the seprating parts are designed so that you should not need to do any filling, all the parting lines should appear as panel lines. the panel lines are pretty light, as i imaging they would be, any scale wizzards can chime in about that..... mike
  10. Cool, if all goes well i should be able to start sneaking in some scratching over the next couple of weeks....... mike
  11. Jesse finished a model!!!!!! my whole concept of reality is shattered....the magnetic field of the earth must have reversed....ying is now yang Great job, love the viper, looking forward to the new one cast from the masters....
  12. Understood, and exactly why no deposits will be taken until masters and molds are done.........gives people a chance to thumbs up the progress........
  13. Ok...looks like we are getting close enough......hopefully once i start on the masters we will get a few more people.....I need to finish up a custom for vermillion one first (he has been waiting waaaaaay too long) then i can work on this and the vf4 at the same time....most of my other projects are pretty caught up... mike
  14. Unfortunatly the molds are all burnt out, I doubt there is enough interest to remake the molds, as much as i love 1/55's seems that there are fewer and fewer of us
  15. i did this one for ChrisB over 3 years ago..........ahh the good old days!!
  16. As long as we get close to the 20 i will seriously consider starting to put blueprints together, and hope that once the build really starts I can ge the last 5 kits. i really love this mech so I would likely scratch one for myself at some point....this just puts a fire under my *%&*

Thanks for the offer, i think i can get brass in the correct size for the barrels with out needing to go to a machine shop, again i would likely make some sort of detail "cap" for the ends so it did not look too empty. Another thread has been started for interest in the build, again unless at least 25 people are interested (again no $ for pre orders) i will likely not go ahead. As big of a scratchbuild as this will be it would tight with 25, but since this is one of my favorite mechs I do not mind putting in the time blueprinting and scratchbuilding, it is really the molding and casting that cost....
  18. I think ur right, I think it is the bubble on top. Here are some screenshots from the series. OK, this pic really makes me want one with a clear vac formed canopy (now that i know that is a canopy) with a bright red LED in the cockpit.........
  19. Oh as far as the poseability of it, because of the weight, even hollow, it will likely need to be a fixed pose, however, my plan was to utilize joints that would much better allow you to pick your pose, with the current 1/72 scale offering the legs pretty much need to face forward, and the arms have similar problems.....
  20. Vac form is tough simply because my current vac form setup is only for small canopies. I plan on making even the nose partially hollow so if people want to add details or lights it would not be much harder than a vac formed body. I will think about the ladder and the cockpit, does anyone know where the cockpit is located for sure, i always thought it was that little "bubble" on top....... mike
  21. Yeah, it's like January here , this will be the 3rd day this week that i lost at working on casting and projects, any day it snows i can't take my daughter to daycare and end up watching Elmo and Barney instead of working.....don't get me wrong i love my kid but i got stuff to do
  22. Ooo... you mean something like this? Yep, in this scale i can get alot more detail in than that, I am also toying with the idea of some other optional open panels, like the 1/48 club M valk, not quite as crazy as the exposed nose but some of the guts... mike
  23. Thanks, and again, that would be a target date, but things happen (like the stupid snow again tomorrow ) which is why i do not want any $ until the masters are done as well as the molds. mike
