I do agree with most of the above, i am a big fan of big models, hopefully i will have a falcon soon My concern is making a model too big that pushes the price out of reach for modelers. At 24 inches long a 1/2000 is still twice as big as the largest yellow sub model of the macross made. I am not starting for a bit so i will listen to what people want for a couple of weeks. thanks mike
-
Yeah, i'm thinking that 1/2000 at 24" is just about right, any bigger and it gets more expensive and a bit hard to display for most mike

OK, so here are the calculations that i have made, please correct me if i am wrong.. in 1/2000 scale the TV SDF1 is just about 24 inches long, in 1/1500 scale it would be just about 32 inches long, 60.5 cm and 80.67 cm respectfully. Does anyone need an SDF1 longer than 24 inches long, is 1/1500 more desireable? thanks mike

I will likely be making one of each, with the cruiser first, if there is no demand for it i will likely not make an attack mode, but i hope that there is. I have never found transformable models to be pratical, and at approx 28 inches long there could be real stability issues with a transformable one, nevermind the paint scratching. If there is a second model (attack) i will likely offer a bit of a discount to those who want both. There will be a WIP thread, hopefully started in the next month...

Yep the Galactica is my latest scratchbuild project. At the very least i think that the SDF 1 could be built with the option to remove the arms. As for the lighting i will take some time to make a plan on how i am going to build and cast it sometime in the next couple of weeks. mike
-
I think after peoples reaction i am leaning to the TV SDF-1....for a practice project i just built a 38inch Galactica for myself Thanks for the link cobywan.... mike
-
That is pretty much what i planned on doing to get some basic blueprints, i am leaning more towards doing the Macross first but there does not seem to be too much interest in either right now. thanks mike

So Nov 1 is upon us and i am about 5 or 6 days away from closing the big casting shop and moving on to scratchbuilding for spring releases. I have said in other threads that i was considering making both a 1/2000 scale DYRL macross cruiser, and a 1/32 scale yf 19, so the ? is how many people are really interested in kits assuming the cost will be around that of the monster.....any other suggestions for kits is welcome, but keep in mind that what i would prefer to build is the really unique big stuff.... thanks mike

Right now just the thread at my website, which needs the last couple of steps, i will complete it in the next couple of weeks, i have been just frantic trying to get everything done before i close the casting shop in the next week or so. thanks mike

Not much of an off season, or at least not in the way baseball players get to relax , I think i will take a week or so off, it's been since may 05 since i took any real time off...after that the Macross and the Yf19...

Ok, the last couple of kits with the exception of jardann (who just paid recently) have shipped as well as the decals that were missing from a couple of peoples kits. If anyone still wants a kit i need to hear from you in the next handful of days (except for Netpunesurvey, prior arrangement), i am closing down the casting shop for the winter very soon so i can concentrate on scratchbuilding, and because of the cold new england winters. Thanks to everyone who got a kit, i hope to see some builds Mike... PS, this kit may be available again in the spring but i can't be sure.....

Got my Decals from Devin today, thanks Devin. I am stuck home tomorrow waiting on a contractor but i will start shipping the last couple of kits and the decals to the people who need them on monday, thanks for waiting. mike

yep....DYRL

Still on, just 2nd in line.....for no real reason other than the first in line has been on my mind longer....

It sold about what i expected, and I'm sure that i will sell a couple here and there, the best part of this is that i own the pattern so i could continue to offer it to people into the future. I really learned alot about pattern making, how to be faster and hopefully more accurate in the future. I have updated the x wing patterns to the "hero" version and i will be doing a run of those before moving on to the next Macross project, that being said, i have started building the next Macross project....all i will say it that it will be 1/2000 scale at just about 28 inches long I will be finishing it after the x wing run............Wish me luck!!

Quick note to anyone waiting for kits or decals, my next shipment of decals is expected mid next week, once those are in hand i will ship out the couple of kits and the decals i owe from ones that shipped earlier. thanks for waiting mike

Ahh, the board is back, everyone who has paid has shipped (by about the time of the board going down), a few kits went out without decals, i am waiting for Devin for the next shipment and then i will forward the decals to anyone who is missing them. thanks mike

Quick note to those of you in the current batch, I will start shipping kits today thru monday. I ran out of resin, and my supplier was out (all these monsters wiped out all the resin , not really). I ordered on last Friday and just got my shipment last night. thanks mike

Just a quick note, my harddrive fried on my computer, i am on a buddies right now, i will still be able to check PM's at my parents house or a buddies house but likely once a day. thanks mike
-
Just an update on the list, i am getting to the bottom of it so I went ahead and PM'd everyone left on the list to get payment and shipping info from. Once i get thru the list the kit will still be available to anyone who posted interest, has contacted me previously, or becomes interested in the kit up to either October/November when i will supspend casting for the winter, or up to the point that the "big" molds fail, whichever comes first. If i missed anyone on the list please PM me. thanks mike

Updated the instructions, they are almost done... mike

I've wanted to do a ball joint non-transformable mod like that for years, just never got around to it. Looks great, can't wait to see it finished.

Just a note to the 3 people who paid last, i will be shipping your kits today and tomorrow. I wanted to get them out earlier, and they have been done since monday, but i have not had a car for 3 days, and 5 miles to the post office in 100 degree heat with 17lbs packages is just no fun. My car was in the shop for 2 days and then yesterday my wife took every single key we own with her to work, i mean EVERY SINGLE KEY!!! My wife is one of those overachieving 4.0 grade student types, but she can't seem to remember the recipe for boiled water I will be contacting the next 5 today or tomorrow and i will try to finish up the instructions today. thanks mike

WOW, looks really awesome, great work. You will have another for the MK1, by the end of the run i will get you one from the 2nds pile...... To address the engine detail/hindge/ deployment....well I uhhhhhh, I was not able to make the full deploy for a couple of reasons, the formost was the balance of the kit, those legs are pretty much where they need to be , and i did make one tiny mistake when i made the hindge, i planned it out without the rear facing leg armor on over the struts....i will cover a fix for this eventually but my guess is that for most people who want to display it to show off the engine detail, the solution will be a few magnets so they can pop off the rear hatch.....

I'll try to get them up in a day or so, sorry my daughters day care was closed last week and i got a bit behind, i had to watch her all week.... mike
