What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v4.0
rotorhead replied to wolfx's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Are you sure? I mean, it kinda sounds like the Little Mermaid. You know, a Romeo and Juliet story. Star crossed lovers never meant to be together.... and the little red dude was a crab by the name of Sebastian that sounded Jamaican. You're welcome. ok,ok... at least my reply didn't have ...what Gubaba linked to! Sheesh! -

not that i've seen. it just has a tendency to stop, think, think some more, pixellate, think again, and die while giving a network error code. i'm trying to be nice, because after all, i AM watching it for free. -

4 eps in, and i'm pretty sure none of them played the whole way through without failing into 10 or so minutes of just trying to get the darn thing to play. of curious note: the commercials still play flawlessly. a lot. stuff like this makes me wonder if anyone ever bothers to test things before putting it out there for public scrutiny. -

up to episode 3, and wow... i'm liking it FAR better than robotech. it's a bit "skippy" on occasion, and their search engine (especially for the app) leaves a lot to be desired. occasionally, it gets rather pixellated as well. it's not perfect, but for free, i suppose it will have to do. oh, and it'll randomly throw a commercial in there, but again, being free and all means they've got to get paid somehow. the link still works for me, but you might also try the 'browse' method i'd described earlier. browse genres, click anime, and visually scan down to Macross just a bit down the page ed: well this is getting annoying. it's taken 30 minutes to watch 12 minutes of the show, although the commercials seem to play just fine every time. -

It's a bit screwy... I'd done a search for Macross, nada. Searched for Robotech, nada. Superdimensiona..... . you get the point. Anyway, the only way I can find it is to browse genres, anime, and visually see Macross just a bit down the page. http://www.crackle.com/c/Macross is the URL listed across the top, for what it's worth. ed: well hey! it worked! -

Interesting, from crackle, I can watch it on an android phone, whereas hulu doesn't work without the hulu plus subscription. edit: found a free app for it too! Looks like I may finally be able to see Macross without the Robotech butchery. ssssscore!! -
Ok, here's one that's always puzzled me: why are there so many capital-ship mecha? I understand that the SDF-1 reconfigured so that it could fire its main gun, and it just "happened" to look humanoid, but what's the reasoning behind other capital mecha? Guessed answer #1: it looks awful cool

@MechTech, because some time ago, I read a bit about about a guy on this forum who got into an argument over how the SDF-1 was supposed to have knees. I'm certain one of the other folks here will have a better recollection on the exacts than myself, but it just seemed to become a silly, long-running joke. Besides, it was the silliest thing that came to mind after envisioning a 1/350 SDF-1 using a 1/200 Daedalus Attack. Many apologies for the vague reference!
-
1/350? That may be doable, especially if you mount up THIS Daedalus to it. Oh... and make sure the SDF-1 gets knees All silliness aside, it looks utterly fantastic and is truly a labor of love, with just a touch of insanity. You, Sir, are awesome!

+1 or is that +9/11 times 1000?
-
wasn't there a vf-1s that was like 4 foot tall? or would that not count since it's more statue than toy?
-
YAY! So I'd picked the right one! Google hadn't been much help on that, as it seemed everyone had a different answer. But if ever in doubt on anything Mac ross.... ask here first! Thanks, TheLoneWolf!

That is just awesome! Absolutely love what you did with it... and if you squint your eyes a bit while looking head-on, it looks like the happiest, heavily armed, hunchbacked albino frogbot EVAR! Either that, or I've just had waaay too long of a day.

Any of the difficulty regarding Collinite that I'm familiar with all stem from the 476s paste. From personal experience, the 845 is one of the easier waxes I've ever used. Apply a small amount, work on a small area, wipe off, done. As for the clay bar, they were not around when I was detailing, so no help from a "pro" standpoint, but I still have the same bar of Clay Magic I picked up in the 90's, so.... Now granted, it's used on my wife's older car, and a newer Meguiar's bar is used for my newer car, but otherwise, both seem to still work just fine. Maybe I'm not doing it right, but claying seemed easy to me. I just do it after the car has been washed, and I use the same wash soap as a clay lubricant. Technically, you're supposed to use a quick detailer instead, but plain automotive wash'n'wax soap has always worked just fine for me. Concerning dirt from dropping the bar, I pick out as much as I can, wash off the rest, and fold it all back on itself, never to be seen again. This probably isn't the best idea if one has really nice paint, but so far, it hasn't left any scratches on my vehicles.

The most durable wax? Collinite. End thread. Collinite 476s is a VERY durable paste wax. It can be a bit of a PITA to use though, so many prefer their 845 insulator wax instead. It goes on easy, off easy, has a decent shine, and is BY FAR the most durable wax (other than 476) that I am aware of. BTW, I grew up detailing cars Collinite (especially the 476) is what you should use in the fall, right before the weather gets snowy/salty/nasty. In a pinch, if Collinite isn't readily available, NuFinish does a suprisingly decent job. You won't win any shows using it, but it's actually quite decent for the price.

that's awful fascist of you, eugimon! *goes to look up the meaning of fascist again and gets distracted by a yet another new reality tv series* oooo.... was that a mark burnett noise?

Hey, I had that issue! And boy, the review on that site just really didn't do it justice. It was FAR worse than they made it out to be. How much suck can one comic pack between 2 (count 'em, 2!) fan-diddly-dangly covers? Wellll.... quite a bit, it would seem! It was so bad, that even as a child that consumed EVERYTHING comic book related, I still thought it was awful. I mean, c'mon... "Richie Rich" had better writing standards than these guys! But I kept it for years, and it may even be floating (froating?) around the attic somewhere, Kool-Aidtm stains and all. I can't believe how many times I re-read it... or rather re-looked-at-the-cool-looking-mecha-whilst-ignoring-godawful-story. Now, I'm just gonna have to look for it, so I can frame and hang the worst lump of... brightly colored paper that I've read. Zor Primus, I owe ya for the trip down memory lane!

i swear i thought i'd seen a kit of the Falken from Ace Combat as well, so that may make a good starting point as the two craft share a lot of similarities.

i'm willing to bet that he knows there are other movies with the NAME on them, but those other movies aren't deserving of their respective titles, except Police Academy, which sucked equally in all of its incarntations.

hey maverick, please tell me it didn't cost $2000 -
just a random thought here, but is it possible to cast the cab hollow, tape up the side window openings, and then fill the cab with future from the front window openings? let it dry, and it ought to be nice and solid, and really, no one needs to know that the "windows" fill the entire cab. or maybe have a seperately casted roof to be attached after installing whatever is to be used for the windows? dunno.... just trying to brainstorm here. anyhoo, keep up the incredible work! :edit after looking at it a bit, i thought you might also be able to put a couple drops of future directly on the existing window to give it a glass like sheen and thickness. when you say 'fake glass', do you mean painting it blueish or something similar?

i'd consider buying it if it had knees *ducks the ensuing napalm storm* ... and maybe a kungfu punch

i wanted so badly to say A10, but i was posting after mechtech was certain it was not. my hunch is that his knowledge of planes trumps my own. that, and the A10 only has 2 nacelles. it all makes sense now... and i really miss my rattler from a very long time ago. if only mom had known what a goldmine in toys that she was tossing out!
