  1. Ok, here's the plan. I don't know if this has been done before on here, but I've decided what to do with an extra 1/72 Hasegawa VF super battroid I have laying around. I am going to build it (a VF-1J, since most of the others I've done are 1S and 1A's, only have a couple 1J's, none super)but anyhow, here's the catch. I'm going to attempt to build it using ONLY stuff found at my local walmart, and I'm not going to use an airbrush this time either. Maybe I'm bored and need a challenge, hell I don't know. I just want to prove you can have a decent looking model without airbrushes, tamiya paints, or any other high end stuff we've come to love and gotten used to. I've already had a couple challenges with it, like having to resign myself to the fact I have to use testors paint. Also, any advice/tips would be great. I'll post pics once I get more underway, I've already begun scribing/washing parts so stay tuned! Choices are: TV Hikaru, TV Max, TV Millia, Stealth, or Dave H's arctic camo from the other thread.
  2. eh, it all comes full circle, new wave's slowly coming 'round again. New bands like the editors, the faint, etc. keep it alive. Too bad industrial can't come back, I really miss it and I'm sick of the Wax Trax catalogue, way too overplayed.
  3. I know it's not really related, and at risk of crossing into dreaded robotech territory, I'd love a hovertank from SC.
  4. Robotech.com?! IM TELLING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No seriously, this is the only board for me other than occasionally dropping in at Pop will eat itself's boards. Used to be on Seibertron for a while, but I hate the way the Site owner is a total nazi about everything, and blatantly ignores anyone that doesn't suck up to him. It doesn't bother me, so don't mistake this for bitterness. Haven't been there in a long time, and I gave up Transformers anyway. Robotech.com...uh, speaks for itself. MW has always been my favorite, made some friends here, got some cool stuff, and a lot of ideas.
  5. Everyone bashes Bandai kits, but I like the 1/72 variables, I thing gerwalk mode on them is excellent. It doesn't matter because any model is as good as the work you are willing to put into it.
  6. Hell...YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! all I gotta say. BC is still a god among men.
  7. Can someone who can photoshop put this on a super 1J battroid for me, and a 1J valk? Something I can use for a reference.
  8. OK, I'm torn, help me decide. I have a 1A/1J battroid kit, and a 1J fighter. Which should I do? I have another project for one of them, and while I want to do a fighter, I can't help but think this scheme screams Battroid in terms of coolness factor.
  9. Ok, to get this train back on track: Skull: It was a joke, no hostility intended. I myself own 3 guns. It was more of a dig at Texas than gunowners. At least I didn't quote full metal jacket, so give me SOME credit. If it makes you feel better, I was born in Corpus, and own firearms, so I really can't talk. Now, back to the task at hand, I have 3 questions: 1. Where the hell are my Battroid pics ?! 2. Some tips on the weathering and paints you used would be cool (I want that look on my 1/72 Arctic Camo 1J I'm working on) , I've got an old Jetfire screaming paint me. How did you do the diecast? 3. On your "tiger" custom, what did you use to get the "stripes"?
  10. What is it with Texas and guns?! And to think I was actually born there...
  11. Hey, better than I could do on a 1/55. Touchy...anyhow, I'd never seen it before. But then, come on, you expect me to lower myself to go to a ROBOTECH site ?! Really though, that's tight. Can we get some battroid pics?
  12. I've got a spare hasegawa VF-1J fighter kit (sorry it's not that special). I'll give it a shot, worse case scenario I spend a day removing paint. Any chance of getting better views of the top and bottom of the aircraft? I've got a Battroid kit as well, but that might be a challenge.
  13. personally, I'd try to get nightmareb4macross to do them. I think his work is great, especially the low viz 1/55.
  14. Dude come on! I have pierced ears. I'm totally punk rock.
  15. well, maybe if he's weathered and battle damaged, it got blown off. That's what I'd do. Better yet, take a clear plastic sprue, cut a few small pieces and put them in the lost piece's place, make it look like it got shattered! personally, I didn't think your first attempt was that bad. I would have worked with it rather than dissected it. the torso I thought actually looked pretty good, as did the head. But it's your model, so what you think is all that really matters.
  16. I got a paycheck that says Hasselhoff makes a cameo. ALL HAIL THE HOFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Some smack the crap out me for saying that please)
  17. Personally, I think his crowning achievement was the Good Omens collaboration with Gaiman. Talk about combined genius. Very sad to hear this. Far too young.
  18. RastaPredalien thingy? ah, who am I kidding, I'll watch it, buy it, treasure it in my collection because I'm an idiot completist with my DVD collection.
  19. You're right about the skull markings on other fighters, you see them twice in Boobytrap.
  20. I love it as well. Clearly superior. Only thing I don't like is some of the english dub voicework. While I would never say Robotech is better, they did have a couple better voice actors. Roy's and Gloval's. I don't know why, but the only thing good about RT is Dan Woren did a GREAT job as Roy. I liked Gloval's voice, because it added more diversity to the cast by having a European (Russian?) commander. Really added to the whole "united govt." thing. Plus, it was nice to see a Russian calling the shots rather than an American. However Hikaru's and Minmay's voices in Macross are way better, and far less annoying.
  21. actually, I'd treat her just like an american girl. I dated a Japanese girl for a year and a half (she was born in the US though) and I treated her just like any other girl I had dated (not sure if that was a good thing) but anyhow, it was a good relationship until I dumped her for another girl and she went psychotic (but that's 99% of women). Point is, she hated it when people treated her differently, whether it was in good or bad way. I didn't even set out to sleep with her, I sold her some pot at a party, and then somehow got lucky that night. God that seems like eons ago. I wonder what I miss more, her or the pot? I think I miss the pot more, because dude she went freaky nuts on me.
  22. No offense, but you're already messing up by calling her a japanese girl. Girls, no matter what ethnicity, are still girls. Just treat her like a regular girl and not some "anime sexy" prize, and you may just go somewhere. If not, C'est la vie.
  23. Personally I like Gundam markers. Grey especially.
  24. Ok, here's the thing. I live in a really small town (pop. 3000) and because of this, a lot of people know each other. Thus, I've gotten to be friends with the guy who owns the local video store. Now, here's the problem, and there's a lot of smart people, so maybe you all have some ideas. They just opened a family video franchise right here in town. Rediculous for a town of this size, I know. I'm trying to help him find a way to stay competitive, and for the most part he is except one area. Here's the breakdown: Hours: Family video: 11a-Midnight local store: 11a-10p New releases: he upped how many he buys to compete. Pre-viewed movies for sale (local store): 7.95 per DVD or 5 for 25. Newer releases go on sale 1 month after being released. Family video: Usually 60 days after release, aside from new copies, they sell for 9.95-12.95 Video games: he charges 5 dollars for 5 days, and sells for reasonable rates. Here's the problem though. He only gets a 10% discount, and he's taken a bath on a few of them that no one rents. 54 dollars is a lot to invest for a small business owner. I've tried to help him by recommending games I know would actually rent and have so far been successful. I guess what I'm asking is if you were in this postion, how would you stay competitive? How would you draw interest to your store to take away from this evil franchise?
  25. wow, that's what shatterstar looks like all growed up out of his 80's motley crue roadie days (moses)...I hated ol' Rob when I read comics, and now I see I still hate him...
