I got a bunch of stuff this year. My wife was good to me. But I also have to thank Kevin at Valkyrie-Exchange. Sorry to see him go but he made it a great season for me. Anyway I got the following stuff: 1/48 VF-1J Super Max 1/60 Elintseeker 1/60 Super O 1/100 Monster box of K&M macross series 2 (now to find the transformable valks from series one) Masterpiece Alpha 1/60 Cannonfodder Valk display stand 1/48 clear fast packs set A few other misc toys, a TF Unicron, an ultimate villains Darth Vader. Forgot to add a ton of new video games including my Japanese PS2 and Macross for PS2. alos got a couple of dvd sets Neon Genesis Evangelion Samurai Deeper Kyo Thundercats Season 1 Volume 2 BTW Congrats on the IROC Chowser. I used to have an '87 Iroc. I have to say it is probably my favorite car, based on what I have owned. I miss that car terribly. I bought myself an '87 Trans Am to play with but it just isn't the same as the IROC. PM me if you ever wanna talk F-Bodies. EDIT: Forgot to add my Japanese PS2.

I remember back in those days. I actually saw a Yamato Macross Plus Valk(don't remember which but I am sure it was the YF-19) for order in the Previews at my local comic shop. It took me a few weeks to convince my wife (girlfriend at the time) I needed it, so I placed my order. Only to find out it would never arrive from there. As far as 1/55's go my story is this. I traded a ton of Magic The Gathering cards for a broken Jetfire. I slowly found a replacement wing, and just the backpack portion of the fast packs. I was happy. Those were the days of surfing VF-1X's 1/55 parts site for anything I could use. I must say though back then I participated more so than now on Macross World I mean. This statement is going to rock the MW boat, but Macross World was much friendlier back then, than it is now. I lurk now and based on some members have considered never coming back. But that hasn't happened yet. To me the golden age of Macross toy collecting was when it was ok to be a newbie and post a question even if it had been asked already. The folks here were friendly and answered instead of pointing to a thread and saying go search. But I digress, thanks to Shaun and Graham for this site, and keep in mind the golden age isn't marked by toy release dates its marked by friends.

Now this is going to show how long I have been a lurker but there used to be a member by the name of VF-1X If I remeber correctly. He specialized in 1/55 parts and car stuff. He even used to have a parts site up but it is long gone I think. I haven't seen him aropund in a long time but if someone can get you in contact with him maybe he has some leftover goodies. Good luck though and if we ever run accross another 1/55 parts dealer I need a couple of thing for my Jetfire.

Its is awesome. Custom stuff doesn't usually get me but that gunpod is amazing. I second the notion of a recast of it. Now that I seconded it, put me down for a recast, please.

I have never seen advanced heroquest. What are the diffferences between the two?
-
Funny, I used to play Quest for Glory all the time. I loved that game. Later on I bought a cd that had all of them on it. I played the first one over and over. But back to Heroquest I had no idea it was related to warhammer. huh learn something new everyday. I haven't started playing yet but I hope hero quest is still going to be fun. You know how sometimes good memories sometimes cloud how bad something actually was. Case in point all of my NES, SNES, Genesis, and TG16 roms.
-
I just ran across Heroquest in my closet at my mom's house. I promptly brought it home to teach my wife to play it. She has expressed an interest in playing Dungeons and Dragons, I figured this would be a good introduction. Boy do I remember playing this game for hours on end with my friends when I was younger, we would make new quests and generally just get creative with it. It was so simple and easy to play that it made it great fun to play. Oh the memories. Anyway I was just curious who else played this. A thread to discuss it would be great. Only downside is I am missing the wizard mini. I am sure it is lost to the ages. Let me know what you guys thought of this game.

There is usually good stuff to be had at Hobby Lobby. However it does seem to me that it depends on which one you go to. I picked up a RoG 1/32 F-14A for $20. That is a pretty good deal to me. I also got the 1/48 Monogram B-29 for 1/2 price. That makes a lot of modeling fun for the money. Gonna go back for one last time today just to see if anything got restocked thropugh the week.

That seems to make sense. What about for the other shows such as DS9 and voyager?

I thought maybe red was command and so forth but I guess I was wrong. Thanks for the quick reply.

Transformers Alternators vs. Binaltech
stram8777 replied to stram8777's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Hey thanks a lot. It does answer my question totally. Big Bad Toy Store has the yellow Tracks on sale for $35 maybe I will go ahead and get one. -
For those of you familiar with my topic about the Alternators tracks getting swapped with a different toy at Wal-Mart, you will be glad to find out thanks to my wife I finally got one. Now my question is this, What is the difference between the Alternators version and the Bibnaltech version? Is it just the packaging? I know there was originally a yellow tracks in the binaltech line and a soon to be released blue version, and even a convertible version called ravage. so What is the diufference? Is it worth buying the other versions? P.S. If this has been discussed before sorry.

Rant about thieves and transformers
stram8777 replied to stram8777's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
The sad thing was they were both blue corvette's Tracks is a Z06 and it was replaced with a ZR-1. It was at least very convincing. So much so that when I showed my wife she thought I was lying to her. I am still disappointed, and I feel that it was an inside job. I have begun casing the homes of several Wal-Mart employees. THEY WILL RUE THE DAY THAT THEY KEPT ME FROM MY NEW CORVETTE!!!!! LOL j/k Anyway that is a nice looking TF. I can't wait to find one. Gonna have to get a Blue and a Yellow version. -
I have been looking everywhere for one of the new altenator Tracks. While at Wal-mart the other night I "saw" one. So I happily grabbed it to look at it and begin formaulateing a strategy on how to convince my wife that I simply can not live without it. When I notice, it is a blue corvette but not the right blue corvette. Somebody stole tracks and replaced it with a different blue corvette. the kind that are like 1:24 scale and sell for about $10. I can only guess that they bought tracks for $10. I hate thieves I really really REALLY need a tracks, and I got screwed. Ok now I feel better I guess I will just have to keep looking.

Let me congratulate you on the purchase. The vf-11b is probably my second favorite Yamato valk so far. I have never had any problems with exploding hips either. However my favorite has been the YF-19. Just something about those Macross Plus valks. I would very much like to find a vf-19a though. Anyway I am not trying to start any flame wars or anything. Congrats

I have to chime in on this. I usually just lurk but comics rate higher than Macross to me. Anyway I am so sick of Wolverine that generally I will not buy a book if he is in it. I know this sounds horrible but there is only so much I can take. I don't think he belongs in the Avengers even a little. The only team book I ever read that I liked him in was when Wolverine, Spider-man, Ghost Rider (if i remember sorrectly), and Hulk were the Fantastic Four for like 3 issues. He just doesn't fit in the Avengers. Spider-man was good in the Avengers for the couple story arcs I remember. I think he could be good in the Avengers. As far as Bendis I like most everything he has written that I have read. I have read ultimate spider-man since it started and it is one of the two books I can't wait to read every month. My current favorite is Amazing spider-man by strazynski. It is simply the best spider-man stuff I have ever read. I have been reading Avengers and so far it is great. I will keep buying after the relaunch just to see. Had to get these things off my chest.

I haven't ever found an easier way to do panel lines. I did them that way on my SU-27 Flanker and they turned out great. Plus on the other side of the coin chalk is very cheap, dish washing liquid should be on hand and water is everywhere. Lets see some pics after everyone has tried it out.
-
So far that method is pretty good for me. I tried using an oil paint wash without much luck. this method has been great for me. try it out but make sure you post pics of your work afterward.
-
Not to try and steal anyones thunder but the best most fool prrof way I have done panel lines, mostly on models but should work on yamatos, is using pastel chalk mixed in water with a little dish detergent added to reduce the surface tension of the water. It works great cleans VERY easy. It is also easy to remove the lines if you mess up or don't like them. The original article I got the idea from can be seen here. Can someone help me locate Graham's 1/48 transformation guide? I can't seem to find it right now. Thanks
-
Well I got my package today. Thanks Kevin. I haven't had time for pictures yet but I have a sort of review of my first impressions of both the 1/48 VF-1J and the GBP armor set. 1/48 VF-1J Well I didn't realize the box was so big. It is a wonderful looking valk. I am impressed with the looks except that I think it needs some panel lining done. Not sure if i will attempt this or not. But after looking at it and playing around a little my only gripe is that it reminds of the feeling i got when I got my bandpresto it just seems plasticy or something. BUt I will attempt to transform it tonight and post some pics. I am very happy. GBP It seems nice lots of detail i didn't expect. armor set only so as soon as i get time i am gonna go fetch a valk and try it out and see how it fits. thanks guys for all of your support. hopefully when the wife gets home from work and looks the new stuff over she will be as impressed as i am. Now i just need to find a super o and elintseeker later
-
Thanks for all the help and support. In a couple of days I will be joining the 1/48 club. I can't wait. I wonder how long it would take to drive to california from St. Louis? Anyway I also ordered a 1/60 GBP armor set. So it will be a good day to see the mailman soon.

Hey I am gonna be placing my order in moments. The link to the pictures that jasonkimberson put up, that I could not seem to find, put her over the top. I can't wait. By the way am not ashamed to admit I am and will always be guilty as accused. But I would like to mention that any married man that claims otherwise is lying. When it comes down to it they have that special thing that we want and it ranks higher than 1/48 valks. LOL
