Macross 25th Anniversary! New TV series coming!

I agree, no more greenies ideas, just give us ass-kicking valks. May be introducing the Variable Glaug to the screen will get Yamato to make one. Let's wait and see... -
Can't remember how it got into my head, but I keep thinking there is a new Eva anime in production. I really want to see more screen time of the Evas kicking butt, like Auska's Unit 2 did in the movie. As much as I love EoE, the biggest disappointment about the movie was that we never saw Eva 01 in real action. With the new anime, I say for get about Shingi's twisted head, just give us more fan services with butts and kicking butts.

I think with Eva toys, you really have to draw a line to distinguish what is essential and what is crap. Or you will either be broke or require a bank loan to keep feeding Gainax's golden goose.

Eeecch!!! That Yamato just arrived my house last week. I'll post some pic when I am home. It is really cool, it has light, sound, pull out compartments, lovely weathering, and very decent details, great for people like me whom can't put anything together. It is fairly plastic-ish so it is not really as SOC as you might hope but a SDF-1 in that scale would be nice.
-
I know, if only Bandai has more love for Macross...
-
Damn I am in the office, can't remember the details, but may be exchangable parts that can comes off from a main frame, that would be cool.
-
Are you sure you want it toe to toe, it is not very big
-
I wasn't kidding when I said the EVA SOC is going through another round of bidding madness...YHJP
-
Something close to the 1/48 size (toe to head) would be impressive. Actually, you wonder why Yamato hasn't try the SDF-1. It's transformation is straight forward, its iconic appeal gurantees sales, its size is perfect for big boxes, and more importantly, Yamato can issue the arms (Movie and TV version) as separate toys to make more money using the same main body mold. Sound like good business to me....
-
I caved in too after watching the video. I just love hearing that clicking sound. The only issue for me was its size, so if I treat it like a SOC, I might feel better.
-
If you are buying the Gold Book, just make sure you know which issue you are paying for. As I understand, the 1st press (the rarer and more expensive) has a film strip and a poster (I could be wrong about the poster, correct me if it is included on other issues). Also the price of the 1st press Gold Book varies depends on which film strip you get (e.g Minmay's shower scene is more expensive than Global'spotting scene..) Also, Watch out for the fake Macross Memory Book
-
The first 2 are from Kazutaka Miyatake's "Design Works Macross & Orguss" and the third one is from the "Gold Book". So I assume what ever these pics shows, that would be the intention of the designers - I thought these pics would settle the debate But of course, being an anime, it is really up to each individual's interpretation - I guess there is no right or wrong answers - just be gentle when telling someone else you are right and they are wrong
-
Actually, that pose remind me of something...SDF-1 giving birth to the little VF-1s eeeeeeergh.... If the Waves SDF-1 can do that, now that would be cool.....

Do yo mean this scene? I was also thinking of this scene...and now that I look at it, I am kind of leaning more towards it has knee and does bend... [attachmentid=40933]

As much as I've enjoyed the comedy, the answer to the questions of whether SDF-1 has knees and whether it is capable of bending are actually not that straight forward . Dig up some files, hope this will settle the questions of the millennium: 1. Does SDF-1's head turns? 2. Does SDF-1 has knees? 3. It is capable of bending? You will be the judge but from these pics, my personal interpetation would be: 1. SDF1's head does not turn, it splits!! WTF - see Pic 1 (1/2 point to both?) 2. SDF-1 has knees - I think the second picture has annotation that reads knee joint pointing to the knee rotation point (1 point to megatroptimus ) 3. SDF-1 has knee but it never used it at his own free will - the 3rd pic shows the only time when SDF-1 appears to be bending after it got hit and felt on the lake - technically, it didn't bent, it was more like crumbled (1 point to Hurin ) So a draw?? Now let's hug each other . Personally, I like to see the toy is capable of knee-bending, that would be cool . [attachmentid=40931][attachmentid=40932][attachmentid=40929]

$125 shipped is not bad. The decision is which armor are you choosing? The normal colour or the LV2?
-
We need a duel thread just for people to go mono il mono. This gives people a chance to let off some steam without derailing a proper thread (and for our general entertainment when no Macross news is on).

Is belongs to my poor VF-0A. It is not broken yet but there is so little plastic next to the screw, it is just a matter of time. I don't think a replacement of the current part will solve the problem - ultimately, it is a design error to introduce a screw so close to the edge of the bicep. Will have to wait and see what Yamato does. God, I hope they will adress this problem with the Shin ghost issue...I want to display my shin in battroid mode
-
Do you mean this junction? When I was inspecting the shoulder joint, I also noted this weak point. It hasn't break yet but it is not looking good. I think Graham might have mentioned this in one of his post. I have now loosen the screw but I don't know how effective this will be. Like I said before, my VF-0A was never transformed, so I can't imagine those whom have played their VF-0A Since the VF-0S doesn't have this screw, it is safe but with a loose elbow...loose elbow or busted elbow...argh...argh...you can't win [attachmentid=40895]

That will send shockwave amonst the Macross community.

I think the original EVA SOC and the new Eva Spec are really 2 different breed of fishes. Both have advatages and disadvantages over the others. I love to collect both lines. If it is any comfort to you, MasterOfPuppet, the recent bidding prices of the original SOC on Yahoo JP are going bananas, I saw some people willing to pay $150 for the yellow Eva and close to $100 for Eva002. I can't quite work out why the frenzy, given that the original Eva SOC were recently re-released and if there is demand, Bandai is likely to re-release them again when the upcoming new Eva series is aired. Anyway, if you want to pocket some cash, now is the best time to let go your original SOC. I want to see improvement with the next Eva Spec, better paint job, more changable head, and weapeons, and I WANT EVA05!!!!!

I don't mind the screws myself but for those whom do, may be you guys can do use a quality sticker sheet and cut screw cap to cover the screw holes like Bandai do with their SOC?
