I have seen a few posts where the torso connection (a ball joint made of plastic...but fairly strong stuff) actually snapped, possibly due to the weight of the upper body (remember some people display their Getter 2 with that freaking big drill) or the mis handling of the owner. Not common but it has happened. I display mine with no drill, a save bet. Nevertheless, good enforcement around crucial connection is important, especially with the price tag of these babies.

I missed Pen-Pen, we had no idea what happened to him during the Instrumentality Project. I hate to imagined his head popped like the others...

The pic was from NGE Die Sterne Art Book. It was drawn by 吉成曜 and it's first appearance was on Animage March Issue 1996. Not sure if 吉成曜 designed this but he is indeed one of the mecha director for the Eva movies, just check out his impressive records here at Wiki http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E5%90%89%E6%88%90%E6%9B%9C

Just a little concern about the torso connection if it is made of non metal...we all remember what happed to Getter 2...do we...

Woo!! You mean we actually have a broken Shin?? Please sent pic when you feel better, this would stop all the guessing. I don't mean to trivialize your post, but some people mentioned that they voted with their non-Shin VF-0.

Interesting about the one eyed EVA05. I think during the preliminary stage of the TV series proposal, there was a very detailed depiction of an one-eyed EVA (which I am sure is where EVA-05 took clues from). Is cool that we are seeing more EVA designs but I hope there is a good reason for the introduction of another one-eyed eva because I am pretty sure each Eva has an unique special feature that makes reference to a specific biblical demon or angel (I don't know the specific reference, but Eva00 was supposed to be a reference to a biblical one eyed demon, Eva01 to an uni-horn demon, Eva02 to a four eyed demon, Eva03 appearance has something to do with the angel of mist "Bardiel"). So having another one eyed Eva kind of take something away from Eva00. Anyhow, I am interested to see what Eva04 looks like, it better to be silver, or I'll ask money back from Bandai for my Eva04.

Just to clarify the purpose of this thread: we want to know problems with the Shin Combo VF-0A only, because we have already confirmed that VF-0A Cannon is problem prone already. We just want to know if the Shin Combo VF-0A has the same problem. RYO, is your a combo?

For those interested to know if the Shin Combo's bicep is glued. The answer is no (see Arrow 1). I really wanted to open that bicep up like DnD does, but I am too afraid if I unscrew the bicep, the bicep plastic will break (see Arrow 2), it is already not looking good. Also, notice these gaps, they are the result of me loosening up the screws on the shoulder and the bicep. It prevent possible stress mark development, but the side effect is I have a very loose armed valk...so I can't win either way....

I love to have one since I can't afford the custom ones. The only trouble is they will have to issue that as a strike pack, meaning the market size is limited?

A Darth Vader SOC would be very cool, but this one seems to have some head-body proportion problem (the head is a little too big and the body is too much like a child)

I choose to believe the 2nd review..ha..ha.... Actually, that might not be a bad thing. I really liked the Death & Rebirth because I wanted to enjoy the TV content in a movie format. It is really no surprise that it has nothing new, just give us awesome visual and sound that the TV didn't get a chance to do so.

At best, this thread will prove that no shoulders are broken but a number of reported stress marks. This should still helps people to make their decision if hey thave yet brought a Shin Combo. Would I have brought one knowing these stress mark? Definitely not. Would you? By the way, Roy's blues' pic on Post 6 shows stress mark a bit worst than mine. You guys should take a look.
-
I know what is happening with the bicep already, and it was shown on my very first original post to the old VF-0 shoulder problem report. This time, I had no guts to disturb it any further. Thanks for the warning though.

OK, positive review (but I kind of half closed my eyes for spoiler). Whoo.whooo...

You guys just have to make us open the shoulder up and relive the pain again, don't you....as much as I don't want to rotate the shoulder ever again, here you go. The two main stress marks (1 & 3) were there when this Shin combo Valk was pulled straight out of the box from Japan. The moment I saw these stress marks, I posted pic on the VF-0S broken thread and I had never touch this Valk again. Stress mark 2 is something I'd never noticed before (I don't rememebr seeing it the last time...) So, as I said before, will these shoulders break? likely not because I will not give these stress marks a chance to develop further by transforming or rotating this valk's shoulder again. I am guessing for this reason, we will never know if this Shin version has fixed the problem or not because people with the stress mark are now a lot more careful. Maybe the question really should have been: how many Shin with stress marks are out there. And people can make up their own mind if this is a problem Valk or not.
-
I was worry about that too, but it seems to be OK, nothing is bending. You can use your finger to try it first (let the valk sit on your figer tip), you will see what I mean. Also, you can rest the long foot on the floor to reduce pressure.
-
Thanks. The Yamato stand actually does not allow Battroid display but if you just let the bottom edge of the back pack simply sits on to the top connector, the VF-1S will just balance it self. See pic here.

Worth the wait for sure. There seem to be some minor faults, they should be able to address them with the next issue. Just think of it as a delay release.
-
That Shin Variant is quite a nice colour scheme....but year, how many more variant can we take....
-
Inspired by the Kaiyodo VF-1S, not sure if this pose has been tried on a Yammie.
-
Late entry but make that 6. I can't find the pic I posted, it is gone from the post. But mine definitely have clear stress mark. So, will it explore? likely not, as I am too afraid to touch it anymore. I'll take some new pic soon.
-
Wow, the skinny hands actually look good on this Valk. Very impressed.
-
Hope you have a long piece of paper, 'cause they a likely to come up with another 20 variant colour schemes...

The version I heard is that during the later part of the making of the TV series, many sponsors pulled out because they thought the series were getting a little too wacky. With tight budget, Anno couldn't fully realise the TV ending the way he intended, so we got stuck with Shinji's mind trip only. The whole story of the Human Instrumentality Project could not be further explained during the TV final epsiode, so many TV viewers were left with WTF? Now, I thought those death threads that we saw on EoE were wrtitten to him by fans whom didn't like the TV ending.
