Well I'm going to try and join the server you all are on. Was trying out a monk a few minutes ago, pretty good so far. I blew to lvl 1 to 4 in no time when I compared it with my red mage.
-
I was afraid of that . Well I'm 13 now and I was thinking of switching over to a Monk or maybe Black Mage. So far I've been soloing and grouped for around 10mins. Not having a good OOC(out of character) channel makes finding groups pretty hard since no one seems to answer shouts when you have a question. The game has a single player feel to it but some people seem to playing it like a single player game and not interacting with others. I actually miss actually selling things like in Everquest before the bazaar was added. I liked the character interaction. Hardly any in FFXI it seems, at least from what I've seen so far. Maybe things are better in the other cities. I should be leaving Bastok soon to find out.

All the trees are gone on Fairy, got the system message an hour ago. Red Mages are fun but I hate that you have to wait till lvl 30 to do the quest to get other classes. I really want to play a Samurai and a Dark Knight.
-
I'm really enjoying this series, I hope there is a fansub for episode 4. I would hate to have to wait till the R1 release to find out the rest of the story. I love the opening for the show. Short but still pretty good.

Man there are a lot of jerks in this game, just could be the server I'm on. They will stand back, see that the monster is almost dead and you are close yourself and then will laugh as you die just so they can take the kill. I can't believe my blacklist has grown to much. Never really happen like this before and I've played several mmorpg over the years. Lvl l10 now as a Red Mage. Anyway what servers does everyone play on again? Thinking of taking people up on those worldpass offers but kinda dreading starting over again, finally got a bit of money(to me to long to find out about how to actually gain crystals from monster, didn't happen till I was lvl 7 dumb me).

Like said you can pick up the dvd at suncoast or even best buy. I've seen it in there. As for it being good or bad. I heard nothing but horrible things about it and then decided to pick it up and see for myself. Reason being is what while I've seen tons of anime I still happen to enjoy DBZ so I figure my taste differ and I will see it to make up my own mind. Its not a great movie but no where near as bad as people make it out to be. Its a C/C+/B- movie(different parts get rated differently). As is the cast. Its a made for TV movie as well. The basic story is okay but nothing original or groundbreaking, well a lot of Gundam wasn't when you look it as a whole. Some of the acting is decent while other parts are bad. The design of the G-saviour was okay in my opinion. I liked it as well as the design of the Rai mobile suits. There are no 360 degree cockpits just the standard ones that we see in the OYW but this is mostly due to how much it would have cost to actually do that type of thing, special effects wise. The Gaia suits had a horrible design. There isn't much character development, what little there is is little. Honestly the space battle at the end was worth buying in my opinion. I've noticed a lot of people had problems with the colonies being called Settlements. Honestly not much of different between. No big deal. They are still grouped in sides and each things has its own name and is well a settlement. A lot of other things were made bigger deals then they were needed to be in my opinion. For example the armor some of the troops wear are the same as the ones used in the Starship Troopers movie. Personally I don't see that as a reason to bash a movie, not a valid reason anyway but that's just me. If you must have everything gundam then pick it up. The space battles and seeing the G-Saviour in CG action is worth it. If you are looking for a masterpiece then think twice. Just remember that while it isn't good it is no where near as bad as some fans make it out to be when they bash it. I remember when Gundam.com was up it was hated on by several people to no end. The topic would be about fish and this one guy would turn it into a Gsavior bashing thread. Try to stay away from comments like that. Honestly you should check it out for youself and then judge if you like it or not. Take how much others like or hate with a grain of salt when you see it so you don't go into it looking for things wrong with it.

I'm finally in. Started playing yesterday and the directions are nice. Not great, but pretty good. There could be more though. Anyway I'm loving the game. After several hours of trial and error(you can't skip past the very opening moments when you create a new character ) I finally landed on the Fairy server which I found out was one of the three servers that had the most NA players on it. Ramuh was another one. I said screw it and I wasn't planning on getting to another server. Haven't meet many people in the game, still inthe canyons around Bastok but so far things seem nice. The controls took some time to get used to. I'm using a laptop so I'm using the compact keyboard setting and even then I had to remap commands. So far I'm a Male Hume, lvl 6 Red Mage and lvl 3 Black Mage. I started off as a Black Mage(during my trail and error) and switched over. Being able to fight and use debuffing spells along with black and white magic is very nice. Far more fun then SWG or the other mmorpg I've played. This maybe the feeling at first but I hope it doesn't fade. I'm going to go for Paladin or Dark Knight as my advance class since they seem the easiest to do. Dragoon looks like a lot of work but Summoner seems not to bad as well. Though finding enough people to break to lvl 50 cap might take some work but I expect I'll know more people by then if I stick with the game. Hmm maybe hooking up a game controller to the system would make things better control wise.

Project A-Ko was one of the first animes I watched back when SciFi showed animed. That along with Fatal Fury, Green Legend Ran, etc. A-ko is a pretty good show, haven't seen it in a some time though. I still would like to get this on DVD. I agree, this really should be seen by all fans.

Robotech Masterpiece Bookends
Effect replied to VALKYRIE-EXCHANGE.COM's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
These do look pretty good but they just cost way to much for my taste. -
The Year Without a Santa Claus was always one of my favorites.
-
They look nice but there is now way in hell that I would spend $150 for a pair of bookends. That's just to much money for something that will just sit there and collect dust. Like said you would be better off making your own, buying model kits and doing them and placing them on a stand would be far better plus you would end up with something of more detail and would have spent your time enjoying yourself.

I agree that modding is a difficult job, I'm a mod myself on another forum so I know the type of work that a team can put in to keep things from getting out of hand but doesn't mean that one should go overboard in how they act. Like any position of power one shouldn't let things get personal. Its one thing to post your opinions on a topic, we all do it. Its another to use your postion to simply close down topics you personaly don't like or do other things just because you can all the while trying to correct others. After all they are still a member of the forum themselves and should not be above the rules. They set the examples members follow. Granted some more room might be given but even then you have to ask, if this person wasn't a mod and just a normal member how would they be handled? I've seen tons of mods removed from the modding position on other forums due to how they have conducted themselves. After all what they do reflects the site. As with any job, payed or a volunteer position people skills are needed. If it was a person just complaining much stock wouldn't be taken into this but several examples have been given. I'm sure many other people have seen Max act the same with others over the time he has been made a mod. Some have either moved on or just let things die not feeling it worthwhile to proceed in complaining about it. Others don't feel they should just let things drop. Closing a topic with a nasty comment or saying something in public and then telling that person to respond in a PM is wrong and appears to be an abuse of power to a degree. Just posting my thoughts on the subject.

I agree, if you don't watch all of it you are really missing out on a lot of Macross. Just seeing a few episodes really doesn't mean you have a good basis for judging the show really hard or gives you the right to tell someone else not to watch it and try to say its crap by making your opinion seem like its fact. Things make a lot more sense the further you go into the story. Seriously though if you can take humans fighting giant size aliens and rebuilding a ship they know nothing about why can't you be more open minded about the elements in Macross 7. It seems people want to make it seem like SDF was so realistic when its just as real as Macross 7, Plus, Zero, II. I agree with Keith on the whole guitar thing. The universe is HUGE, there is no telling what is out there. This why I never really understood the dislike of the Protodevlins as being something as unrealistic or not Macross like. People just need to be more open mined is all and not let the opinions of others seem like fact. Now if you've seen the show and still dislike it, well there is nothing anyone can do about that. Its up to person taste but at least you gave the show a fair shot and tried to understand things and didn't just jump on the hating bandwagon which I have noticed on other forums that people seem to do. Hearing about and reading summaries doesn't seem to work. You have to experience it with your own eyes in my opinion.

I have to say MD7 and the movie are pretty good. Though is it really a movie. Its honestly just an episode with really good animation but like said it kinda doesn't fit in the series, same along with the Encore episodes. The ova is different but I really enjoyed it. It was a nice change which is what I love about Macross. Each series/ova are all different and each focuses on a different theme(all of which that appear in all the series since the beginning with SDF Macross).

I wonder if there will be more information on this on the next update. The compendium says its updated on the 1st and 16th of each month and it was noted that the next actual update would take place on the 18th of December. Nothing yet and its the 19th. Hoping there is more info to be on, even if its a little bit of information.

Totally Off Topic - But FREAKIN ME OUT
Effect replied to Mechamaniac's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Sounds like a nice idea. Man some of you guys area really mean and twisted. -
Well they haven't had it transform. In the #0 issue they had it so that there was an error in the system. There aren't even any stats for the other two modes on the RT.com site. I think it will stay that way since it doesn't appear in the series. The might be better coming up with a design closer to the Alpha or some Southern Cross mecha and using that as a YF/VF 4 so it can have all 3 modes and a MPC could be made. You think they would have done that since it would have brought them more money, oh well.

I keep hearing nothing but good things about this movie. I've actually held off on reading Return of the King till I saw the movie since I wanted to read more of the detail later. Actually for some strange reason I read the first two long before I heard about the movie but never really got around to the 3rd. I really hope I can see this by Friday or Monday so I can start reading.

I just watched the featurette, honestly I liked it. The backstory sounds interesting, then again I've never been that into Alien or Predator. I really enjoyed the movies but never really took them as serious or as deep mind you. I don't mind the backstory due to that. It isn't the first time the idea of aliens helping with the building of these objects. Its not crazy to think it could have happen. I'm just glad that there will be a lot of action. Can't wait to see it. I just want to be enjoyed.

Totally Off Topic - But FREAKIN ME OUT
Effect replied to Mechamaniac's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Good luck. You might have a better chance by setting up a video camera if you have one. That way nothing would be out of place when these elves come back. Hiding it in a bush or a corner might help. -
I hate when you have a person like that in a movie. Always pointing out the little things, basicly spoiling things for those around them. I don't like yelling at people but I always find myself telling them to shut with complete strangers backing me up. I say if you are ever in that situation say something. More chances then not there are others that are annoyed as well but everyone is waiting for someone to make that first move so they aren't alone.
-
I usually played as a Paladin or Ranger. I can't stand casters in it though. Having to rest a lot in order to regain spells. Can't use swords so I suck at melee combat. Unless you are playing with others casters are usually a no go when you play the single player.
-
Not a bad cast. Looking forward to this.

I would think an image on a messageboard doesn't do the thing justice. I'm going to wait and see it on the big screen and in motion. I never did care for stills when it came to movies, animation, or games.
