How large is it?
-
I can't wait till a sub is released. I just hope the files aren't large. I love quality as well but over 150megs is to much, especially on a dialup. Even with that number it takes a day and night and day to download it with a constant connection with no other traffic.

I do want to see Chronicles of Riddick, I enjoyed Pitch Black.

Pitch Black was surprisingly good I have to say. It took me by surprises and a lot of people I've talked to. Riddick was a great character. -

Hmm so far we have the following now. Ptich Black Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay(Xbox)(prequel to Pitch Black and parts that are a sequel but before CoR) Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Fury (sequel of Pitch Black but before the CoR movie) Chronicles of Riddick (movie) All I have to say is that Chronicles of Riddick better be pretty damn good if they are going all out like this. I think the game even got 9.3 from Gamespot. Haven't gone there to check yet to see if it was true. I do know I want to pick it up. -

I think I'm going to be picking up Sorcerer Stabber Orphen and The Slayers over the next few months. Slayers looks like a long series with several movies and OVAs. Orphen's story seems interesting as well. Now just to decide which mecha I'll pick up. -

Thanks for the all the great mecha recommendations everyone. I'll be sure to try and track some of these down. Sorcerer Stabber Orphen and The Slayers were two shows I was looking at. Are there any other fantasy, adventure, magic based series out there? -
I say don't bother with the movie. I saw it on Starz a week or two ago. Waste of time really. I had it on mostly as background noise. The first movie was MUCH better then the sequel. With the CG series being leaps above the second movie. Don't waste your money on it. I finally got the book but haven't read it yet.

Would you buy HG versions of DYRL and Macross 7?
Effect replied to Myriad's topic in Movies and TV Series
True it would add more expense to the production of the product. Though if they did add english subs to the R2 releases(I would love that) it would make importing the R2 versions much more viable. One would just have to worry about being able to play it. On PC, dvd-roms have gone down in price. If I'm not mistake a dvd-writer can go from anywhere to 180/200 to 500. I would think that a normal dvd-rom would be much cheaper. For an investment if you were planning to buy more then on import if it had english subs it would be worth the price. Just set its region to 2 and there you go. I wouldn't mind doing that to be honest. It would honestly greatly increase the chances of importing in my opinion. Though I'm no expert and not sure how many people would go through this. Though it really isn't a lot of trouble to go through to be honest. -

Oops I forgot to add El Hazard to my list. Its one of my favorite series. Only seen the original and 2nd OVA though. As for Gundam Wing it was my first Gundam experience and I still enjoy it a lot. Its one of the many I've see as well. From what I said in my first post I had seen all of Gundam but the ones I listed. Thanks for the suggestion everyone. Please keep them coming. This is really helping. -
Would you buy HG versions of DYRL and Macross 7?
Effect replied to Myriad's topic in Movies and TV Series
I find things are easier when I just think ADV(or even Animego(sp?)) releasing it and don't bring HG into my mind to be honest. Its a stress saver to be honest. -
Alright I'm looking for a new mech series to check out. I've seen(and/or own) the following. Are there any others I should check either old or new(would be prefered, especially if it is a continuing series). Gundam( all but ZZ, second half of Z, second half of V, the last half of SEED, japanese SD series) Full Metal Panic (season 1 and 2) Vandread (first series and second series) Escaflowne (series and movie) Macross (SDF, DYRL, II, Plus(ova) 7(all), Zero(what has been released)) Robotech(all(the three arcs, Sentinel movie)) Evangelion (series and movies) Dual! Parallel Trouble Adventures(series and special episode 14) Martian Successor Nadesico (series and movie) Mobile Police Patlabor (first movie)(this was a surprise when I watched it. Didn't think I'd like it but it was a bit slow) Z.O.E.(Zone of the Enders) Idolo Those are the mech series I've seen or own. I have majority of them but Patlabor. If anyone can recommend something new that would be great. On a second note I'm looking for a new adventure series as well. I've checked around Animenfo.com but I'd like the opinions of others on what they've seen. I"m looking for shows similar to either the following. Having magic is pretty much a plus but not the deciding factor. If it includes comedy that's fine as well. Record of Lodoss War (OVA) Scrapped Princess Maburaho Final Fantasy Unlimited (along with the Crystals OVA) El Hazard(original ova and sequal ova) Any show similar to those, past or present would be great. Though one that is current is prefered, especially if its a long series or with mulit series in it. Thanks Edit: Added El Hazard

Would you buy HG versions of DYRL and Macross 7?
Effect replied to Myriad's topic in Movies and TV Series
I didn't vote since no option fit my choice. I'd buy the R1 version of DYRL if it was better then the FX version I have. That goes for sound, subs, (dub if possible). Also the price would have to be decent as well. As for Macross 7. If they were to release a version, since I am a fan of the series I'd would seriously think about it. First the price would have be reasonable with a decent amount of episodes on the CD. Hell the FX versions manage to have what 8 episodes per dvd plus with extras on the dvd with origninal track and english subs. I honestly could care less if HG's logo was on it or not. I really don't care about the whole legal mess anymore. Its pointless anyway. HG will try its best to take what it wants and nothing we can do about it. More important things in life for me. Finishing college(my senior year next Sept.), trying to get into graduate school, or a decent job. Not to mention there are other series that are higher on my list to get once they are released. Actually my interest in both RT and Macross has seriously decreased in the past few months. I spend most of my time in the Other Anime forum here and only hit RT.com for the chat to talk with friends. Though should be interesting to see how they explain this at AX, though its clear they believe they had the rights to everything. To see if they get the masters for these shows or release things based off of the FX versions that can be bought or if they import the R2 versions and take them apart. Now that would be interesting and really sad to be honest if they did that. I have both shows on DVD anyway so I'm already happy. -
Harmony Gold's DYRL official DYRL site?
Effect replied to Apollo Leader's topic in Movies and TV Series
That's a good point. They haven't dubbed any of the original items and no real reason to think they would do a dubbing here. If they did gain access to the R2 versions they would just have to worry about subbing and I would think that the cost for using those for HG and ADV would be a lot lower then them remastering it themselves or dubbing. I do hope its legit and something has been worked out. -
The finale was pretty good. Though one thing that I found interesting. It didn't seem like Archer or Enterprise went back in time but that the planet itself went back in time. Once Trip left in a shuttle to contact starfleet they were attacked by US allied planes it looked like then we cut to the Nazi medical tent. This is interesting cause I don't believe they've ever taken this approach. It's usually the ships going back in time but not a planet which seems to be the case and the reason they never got an answer from Starfleet, orbiting stations or the moon base. Thought I did see the beginning workings of Federation or what could lead to it with the different races helping out the Enterprise. Maybe I'm looking to much into that tthough. I wouldn't be surprise if they played that angle though next season by going into the birth of the Federation. I just hope this time travel thing only last a few episodes.

Harmony Gold's DYRL official DYRL site?
Effect replied to Apollo Leader's topic in Movies and TV Series
As long as they are going through the proper channels and since time has pasted since the legal actions and Tommy Yune saying they finally got around to properly getting the licenese when it came to the DYRL poseables I could care less if they, well not really they but if ADV Films released it. Doubt they would purposely seek Robotech voice actors for it. Like said said they try to keep things seperate. I just hope that DYRL is the last thing HG will try to claim that is Macross and will stop trying to stop other Macross items from being released outside of Japan. What I don't like is the lack of information regarding Big West or even Tatsunko Pro on that site. Though it looks like they are only claiming the trademark "MACROSS". Not to get off topic but anyone find it strange that HG never actually links to its Harmony Gold site but just has the logo but always links back to RT.com's main page. -

This sucks, my thoughts go out to his family. He's character was actually my favorite on the series to be honest.- 16 replies

I agree, the ending really did suck. Then again I thought majority of the series sucked and was a waste of time.

So it might be setup the way Pulp Fiction played out then? The way there were the different stories but they all came together at points in the movie.
-
Who are the main characters of this movie suppose to be? I've never read anything on Sin City other then hearing about it.
-
So why is it forbidden to say their names when talking about valks on Robotech.com then? Not where to buy them but just to say their name. Toynami having all the toy rights doesn't seem to show that they want to work with other companies. Nor does it seem room for them to work with the other companies if given the chance. Just something I noticed.
-
I'd like to see them try as well. Seems they have forgotten that the design rights to the series designs are owned by Big West. I see the same thing happening with the movie as well. After all HG can only have what TP has.

I've always wished that Chakotay was Captain instead of Janeway. He was my favorite character on that series. Him and Paris.

Does anyone else feel like Minmay got kinda....
Effect replied to Max Jenius's topic in Movies and TV Series
Not so much in the series in my opinion, things did end bad for her. In DYRL on the other had she really was run over. I really felt sorry for her.
