  1. Honestly, I’m intrigued and curious to see how this all pans out. Been really wanting a detective Batman film for awhile now. Other than having too many villains in the film, nothing that’s been revealed has been outright horrible (ala the first iteration of live action Sonic the Hedgehog). So far, I’m willing to give this Batman a shot.
  2. Doubt it. Everyone seems to be pointing that this will be a detective noir film. We already got the femme fatale in Selina Kyle. We’ll probably have a gunsel henchman that roughs up and gets ultimately beaten by Bats. And I wouldn’t be surprised if we get a few scenes that play with light and shadows and are filled to the brim with wisps of smoke, interplaying with the lighting. And if Pattinson starts riffing soliloquys and monologues in a Humphrey Bogart voice, we’ll know for certain they went full tilt on the noir aspects.
  3. Seriously, Rian Johnson should have had Luke drop hints about why he doesn’t want to train Rey, keep mentioning how his dad fell to the dark side, and then throw the “subverting expectations” twist by having Luke say he ISN’T Rey’s father.
  4. The hardest task for these writers and creators can be summed up as such: being respectful while not being a rehash or a worse replacement. No matter how much they try to deny it, their work is gonna be compared to/scrutinized against all the already existing films, the Filoni animated stuff, the Gennedy T. stuff, the EU, and all the other media and video games that came before. And if it replaces anything from these various sources, it needs to be “better” than what came before. Throw in the usual continuity and consistency issues with such a long-lived franchise, and you can see the huge challenge they face.
  5. Considering none of the live action Batman films have really shown much of his World’s Greatest Detective aspects, I’m curious to see how this film pulls it off, as well as its more noir take.
  6. There’s a billion things annoying about that birthing scene. But I wouldn’t have minded if Leia was born first. It’d still be a stretch, but at least Leia’s “memories of mom” speech in ROTJ would have made more sense (latent Force ability in baby, more time with Momma Padme than Luke, etc.). Regarding that brainstorm board, I’d be the a-hole that would erase a chunk of the board and write “FOLLOW KOTOR’S LEAD/EXAMPLE!!”
  7. Doesn’t that pretty much match Bandai’s plans to make us buy multiples and milk the mold for all it’s worth?
  8. The only thing is that no one has ever done a true TV version Roy VF-1S in 1/48 scale.
  9. Wanna really piss off the KOTOR sect, tell ‘em Revan came up with the chosen one prophecy! Now excuse me, as I kick myself for throwing that Pandora’s box dumb idea out there.
  10. I think my questions still stand: the fears these Jedi will face are the same ones we’ve seen in the past (in films, shows, books, and comics). About the only new wrinkle/“fear” you can add is the fear of these Wild West Jedi marshals losing their autonomy. I can see some Outer Rim Jedi (trying to keep the peace) getting annoyed with a stuffy Jedi Council, sitting in its ivory temple and trying to impose its impractical or downright clueless policies and requirements. Basically, trying to get the job done versus making sure you’re in compliance with the Jedi-equivalent of an Office Space TPS report.
  11. Works for me! Wouldn’t mind an extra non-helmeted version for both Hik’ and Misa too. No question that the health concerns take priority. But I hope the economic impact is just limited to delays with these toys, rather than smaller toy companies closing up shop entirely. Slightly off-topic: I guess any time a toy company reveals a prototype for Mospeada’s Houquet in her Ride Armor, I should start preparing for an economic downturn.
  12. I’d even take TV Skull-1 with three pilot figures: Roy, Hik’, and Hik’ w/Misa.
  13. Poor Rex: The losses of his brothers keeps mounting, and he has give up his helmet for Anakin’s . . . umm . . . booty calls. Guess we can also give Obi-Wan a new nickname: Kencockblocker. Other than the amusing bits above, this ep was kinda too by the numbers for my taste. Hopefully, it wraps up by next episode. Need to get to Order 66.
  14. Can we also get a leg art decal/sticker of Minmay rocking Misa’s hairbuns?
  15. Is Obi gonna start talkin' like John Wayne? Or will he channel his inner Rooster Cogburn and start exaggerating his exploits to the nearest Sand People around?
  16. So, to summarize the Kakizaki part of this thread:
  17. If you do that to a Toynami, then YCAPS .N .U would have to be Robotech-ified: ”You Can Access Protoculture Stuff. Near. Underside.” @wmkjr, stop mirror-imaging the Hasecadiawavtoynamdai 1A!
  18. They’ll find a way; much like life, they’ll find a way. BTW, talking about that video, I already know what a Jedi in those good ol’ days would fear the most: * Falling to the Dark side; * Falling in love; and * People dying as a result of his/her/its actions. . . . So, how would that be different from any other Star Wars Jedi-centered story?
  19. The biggest problem with the Sequel Trilogy is that they practically backstoried everything. Very little was actually discussed or shown in the films themselves. Why is there even a First Order? Read the books. When the hell did Palpatine have children? No clue. Because the films don’t consider it important enough to go over. As far as what comes next, it really comes down to how Disney’s creative will respect the source material. Best case scenario is Dave Filoni bringing in Thrawn earlier into the Rebels timeline, but totally nailing Thrawn’s mastermind tactician aspects. Worst case scenario is you get Joel Schumacher’s Batman films going for lowest common denominator and totally missing what made Two-Face and Mr. Freeze compelling villains.
  20. If Kakizaki doesn’t come with battle damage, fuel leak trails, “blown up by overloaded barrier” effects, and an uneaten sizzling steak, I will call a foul! Shame and a pox upon thee, Bandai!! . . . And what does “YCAPS .N .U” mean? Yak de Culture Are Permanently Stored. Near. Underside?
  21. So, why would TV Kakizaki have the skull and crossbones if he was never part of Skull Squadron? #RecognizeTheVermillion! #BandaiScrewsUpTheTampoAGAIN!!11!!1!!
  22. Okay, I'll eat crow: this first ep. sucked me right back in. Filoni and company know how to do Clone-centered eps.
  23. Oh, I get the business reasons for it. But there is the potential to have the opposite effect and make people wait until most of the eps are out. With Clone Wars, the week to week can be a slog. Plus, we got spoiled with Netflix making all of Season 6 available. And all of the older eps are already available for streaming on D+ right now. Like I said, I get the reasons behind it. But releasing by arcs would have been a nice alternative. I know Disney is gonna give me the shaft, but it’d be nice if they throw me the proverbial pity compliment and tell me my hair looks pretty.
  24. I suspect they’re releasing one episode per week. But I really wish they would go one arc per week, releasing all of an arc’s three to five episodes in one shot. Oh well.
