  1. All the blue sections. Still experimenting with extending the guns (using your styrene technique ), so I’m holding off on reassembling that whole chest/main gun section. I did back off from painting the Prometheus’ deck, partly because my brush painting tends to be streaky on large areas and partly out of laziness. I guess my excuse can be that the Prometheus was never intended to be attached to the Macross.
  2. Added some light panel-lining to the center fuselage and one of the main guns. And reattached the repainted leg. Made a couple of foul-ups making the A-stance cuts and with the spray-painting. But nothing too catastrophic, and I was able to “cheat” a bit when I retouched some areas of the legs.
  3. I think a happy medium would be something between the old Matchbox version and the model(?) in tekering’s photo. Now that I’m staring at the model and the pics on M3, the old toy does look like someone mashed down the front door and made it too flat. But the overall shape still evokes a sub. If they had rounded out the edges, it would have helped a bit too. I can live with it on a 35 year-old toy, but would probably scream bloody, hell murder if Bandai or Arcadia did something like this now. Given my limited skills spray-painting and some dumb foul-ups I’ve done, I’m pretty sure I’m gonna have to make some “eh, good enough” decisions.
  4. Since no toy company was making an updated TV Style SDF-1, I finally caved and got an old-school Matchbox version. While waiting for it, I started seeing all the customs and mods everyone was doing or did to theirs. Needless to say, y’all are a bunch of enablers! I was only gonna do a few changes, but I decided to do a “few” more custom touches. So yeah, I’ve been cribbing notes from everyone’s work. It looked like the Macross I got was in good condition (no yellowing, all railguns in great condition, etc.). But it had this issue: I’m gerry-rigging a workaround, since the plastic around the ratchet is kinda brittle. But I’ll see how well it succeeds, once I reassemble that whole chest/main guns area. First up, I painted and detailed the Prometheus and the Daedelus: Spent too many times referencing back to the M3 website. Painting the lines yellow (that mark off the Prometheus’ elevators) was an idea I cribbed from @nightmareB4macross’s awesome custom. The sides of the Daedelus looked kinda bare, so I made some homemade stickers to detail her up. I’ll post more as I get other bits done.
  5. Don’t wanna hijack tekering’s thread, so here’s my detailed up Prometheus: Mad props to @nightmareB4macross. Yes, I stole your idea for using yellow paint to detail out the elevators. Still working on the Daedalus side details, and I’ll see how badly I skunked up on spray-painting the Matchbox SDF-1’s parts. Been awhile since I spray-painted a toy. I’m horribly out of practice.
  6. I never thought they were gonna meet that June 2020 release date, even BEFORE the whole Covid-19 pandemic hit.
  7. I’d like to believe that this is still canon: Just too damn good to exclude. It really made Grievous and the Magnaguards such intimidating foes.
  8. “You’ve taken your first step into a larger world.” Next thing you know, you’ll be weathering and panel-lining the Valks, and fabricating pieces to simulate battle damage.
  9. I also appreciate that some of the Tartakovsky Clone Wars bits can still be viewed as canon (the little mention of Shaak Ti going to check on the Chancellor but losing contact with her). With all the tie-ins, I’m secretly holding out hope we hear the phrase “This is the way” just once from a Mando.
  10. Your review tried to warn me, and for that, I appreciate it. Should have been more skeptical and asked for out of box pics from the seller. But hopefully, my workaround is successful. Back to Mospeada stuff, at least the seller mentions how glass-fragile the Alphas are (the Betas, of course, are solid beasts). I’m looking forward to the Sentinel Legioss too. But I’ll wait for the red girl (probably getting released in 2021 at this point, huh?).
  11. The big unknown with that auction is the condition of the Alpha. Don’t know what condition the hands are in or whether anything has deteriorated over time. Seller was good enough to show numerous pics and show box damage. But guess I’m still a little punchy after getting a nice Matchbox Macross, but discovering it had broken arms out of the box.
  12. Just finished the latest ep. So many feels, so many Easter eggs, so many cameos, so many callbacks (even to Rebels stuff), so many great moments! They absolutely nailed this episode!
  13. Just a coincidence. Plus, it’s high away, so the kiddos’ won’t mess with the WIP Macross. Went on a “get favorite books I wanted for my personal collection” binge last summer. Plus, the 1984 and Animal Farm combo put me over the $25 free shipping threshold for my cheapo Amazon account.
  14. So, I found a Macross with practically no yellowing, all the tower pieces in good condition, no broken rail-guns, and a complete unused sticker sheet. BUT. . . as soon as I took it out of the styrofoam, this happened: Both. Arms. Should have followed and read @jenius’ review advice more closely. Oh well, live and learn.
  15. This is CLEARLY the Macross’ chicken-walker/Gerwalk cruiser mode.
  16. After caving and finally purchasing a Matchbox SDF-1, I don’t know whether to be thankful or bummed about this thread. At the very least, I wanted to try an A stance mod, repaint the thighs blue, and panel-line like an idiot. But now, there’s a rabbit hole of mods to consider. In all seriousness, thank you NB4M for the detailed steps, descriptions, and pics! I definitely referred to your old custom pics to see what was possible. And thank you @tekering for starting this thread. I’m sure I’ll be referring to it a billion times in the upcoming weeks.
  17. The only things from last week’s ep that stuck out for me was: - The Martez(sp?) sisters inadvertently knocking Ahsoka down a few pegs, telling her how the Jedi didn’t do jack after indirectly leading to their parents’ death. - The brief Bo-Katan cameo. Everything else felt like filler. I’m sure watching this arc would be better if I binged through these last three eps in one sitting. But that’s just how it goes with things on +.
  18. Love the whole instrumental accompaniment on this:
  19. Vader: "Who needs the Force, when you got these GUNS!"
  20. Those X-Men avatars actually look pretty good. But I've been rolling with Chopper since the beginning. Kinda gotten attached to the cantankerous droid.
  21. Since I haven’t purchased enough of these companies’ toys to pass a judgment on best, I’ll have to list only my favorites: Yamato: YF-21 (never bought the 1/60 Version 2 VF-1’s) Arcadia: Never purchased any. Bandai: SOC Golion. . . . Never specified it had to be Macross-related!
  22. I can only guess on the big ones: Back row (starting from the left): - 1/55 Chunky; - 1/48 Yammy; - 1/48 Bandai; - 1/55 Toynami. Middle Row: - 1/60 V2 Yammy/Arcadia; - ??? - ??? - 1/60 Version 1 Yammy. The rest?
  23. One additional wrinkle to consider: posing the different Valks going from Fighter to Gerwalk to Battroid (or from Gerwalk to Battroid). For example: -1/55 Chunky Monkey - Fighter mode -1/60 Yamato V1 - Mid-transformation pose (arms back Gerwalk?) -1/48 Yamato - Full Gerwalk mode -1/60 Yamato V2 - Mid-transformation to Battroid -1/60 Arcadia - Battroid -1/48 Bandai DX - Action posed out Battroid.
  24. An oldie pic: And The Old Republic:
