[Netflix] Transformers: War For Cybertron Trilogy: Siege
Mog replied to Old_Nash's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
There’s bits of Beast Wars that are pretty up there with the movie. [Runs for cover from the imminent Monkey vs Truck flame war] Regarding this latest series, I still wanna reserve judgment until I watch next season. They did some nice homages (First scene being Wheeljack and Bumblebee searching for energon), and added some interesting twists (Bee not being all-in for the cause. Prime still learning on the job). But I’m curious how those not too familiar with Transformer lore felt about the series. Were they able to follow along about the backstory between Prime and Megatron? What about the Leadership Matrix, the Allspark, and the Alpha Trion Protocols? One criticism of some movies is that they expect you to know all the backstory or details from some supplementary material or from previously knowing the source material (e.g., They mention it in more detail in the original books.”). Just curious if the casual fan gets that same impression. -

This is Hasbro we’re talking about; we have about a decade’s worth of evidence that they’ve become horrible at timing their toy releases with media, movie, and TV show tie-ins. -
Pour out some Quaker Oats for the man. Always thought he was much older back in the 1980's.

But look at Houquet’s facial expression: she looks sad to be wearing that pink armor. Mobilize the Houquet Rouge! #QuitFuke-ingWithHouquet

Regarding Variation No. 385,897,577 of Cobra Commander, I guess he’s infringing on Destro’s black, red, and gold color scheme now.

No clue, but there’s only a few more well-known female Joes that would be available for them to do: * Covergirl; * Jinx (so they could hit the Asian and sexy ninja niches); and * Zarana (for the punk elements). There’s a couple other more obscure ones, but those are really the only well known ones left.

Yup. Not sure if the missing mud guard is something they just left off for now, like how the figure is missing the cloth inserts. Plus, the hand guards (that cover up the shoulders) angle a little differently in the combined mode. In regards to color, I could accept a faded pink that could pass for red, if you look at it funny. But really, Houquet’s always had a red theme, even with her civilian clothes. I hope Sentinel is listening and doesn’t cause us to start a cranky “Houquet Rouge” crew.

The key thing to remember is that the pics where Houquet and the bike are separate are the earlier prototype pics. The pics where the two are combined are the more recent updated prototype from this past January. The key improvement that I like is that the legs are more tapered and feminine on the updated prototype.

So leaving off the whole hot pink vs. red issue, how many folks here would be willing to buy Houquet’s Ride Armor, based on the last updated prototype we saw? Based on that last prototype, I’d be absolutely down to get one.

With the SOC Dairugger/Vehicle Voltron, I recall there was some sort of lock where they couldn’t fulfill the pre-order once you input a US address on Amazon.jp. Considering that didn’t happen with the Zeta, I’m assuming we’re good to go.

How much did Hasbro pay DC to borrow the design of Batman’s gauntlets?

Yeah, it’s kinda how I look at Yellow’s Ride Armor: I wish it was a lighter blue, so you could see the black MB markings on the shoulder. But it’s not a deal-breaker. I’d prefer a more consistent red throughout the Zeta. But it didn’t stop me from preordering.

I used to have the first four Toynami Alphas and two blue Betas. Since I literally waited YEARS until they released the Betas, there’s no way in hell I’ll ever let them go. So, I’m kinda obligated to keep the two blue Alphas, as well. One of the blue Alphas had its hips break into a billion pieces. So, it’s literally held together and still standing with the help of paper clips. I eventually sold the Greenie and the Shadow (no spot to display them). Plus, they had issues that made them more finicky than usual. But despite taking a few stage dives and getting broken in the process, I wound up keeping the red Alpha. I liked its solid red color scheme that much: I also already got a display spot ready for the Zeta girl (and any potential matching Tread they’ll hopefully release): And Houquet’s Ride Armor should lean more red, not pink. Even though I preferred a more greyish, lighter blue, I was okay with the darker blue on Yellow. That won’t be the case with Houquet if she’s this hot pink.

Is it bad that I'm already eyeballing the Yen-to-USD exchange rate to figure out when I should pay? And yes, Sentinel needs to keep the Red Harbinger of Recessions(TM) in RED Ride Armor! #QuitFuke-ingWithHouquet

It’s bad enough they have her in hot pink. Now, they’re snapping butt pics of Houquet: They didn’t do that to Stick! #QuitFuke-ingWithHouquet Despite some nits with the inconsistent colors and with the pinky pilot, I’m in for one.

Nah, Yellow’s Inbit girlfriend can have the pink Ride Armor (with dark purple trim). It fits better with her uniform color scheme. EDIT: Shawn, try the link @Snake Eyes posted earlier: http://www.tatsunoko.co.jp/news/3462

There’s a few other threads down in The Workshop section showing off mods to other custom SDF-1’s: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/forum/23-the-workshop/ There’s also @nightmareB4macross’s “customized to the hilt” version: He gave a ton of tips on how to add more articulation and features to the old toy. I had a few mistakes here and there, but the final product came out pretty good: It helps that the one I bought off of eBay had busted shoulders out of the box. Gave me the incentive to fix her up.

I’m hoping NOT, and they revert back to the more red hue they showed when they first announced that Houquet was upcoming: The hot pink won’t mesh with the rest of her Ride Armor crew.

For the fighter shelf, you could have them flying at each other. Or depending on the space, crisscrossing or pulling off barrel rolls, Cobra maneuvers, or other odd angle poses. Just showing how crazy a dogfight in these birds can be. For the Gerwalks, Mexican standoffs could work. Don’t forget that DD does do that weird “use the head as a periscope” bit while in Gerwalk.

Well, I would hope that my cargo of frozen chicken and well-aged medium rare ribeye roasts would still be delicious and nutritious at the quantum level. Or else, it would be no different than eating algae paste like a haggard Galactica Colonial.
