    After spending years handling Toynami’s Alphas, it’s so refreshing to handle a toy that holds a pose and doesn’t feel like it’s gonna flop if I even dare to look at it funny. The Sentinel is a little tricky to get all the shoulder hinges/joints realigned straight to go back into fighter mode. But it is a pretty ingenious design that they pulled off. In any case, less writing and more better colored Houquet pics:

    If we’re dreaming, then Bandai should release a Legendary Defender Voltron chock full of accessories including but not limited to: * The big honking cannon Yellow activates. * All the various swords Voltron wields during the series (including that literal flaming sword). * The massive angel-like wings Black Lion busts out. . . . And an IN SCALE, articulated-to-the-hilt IGF-Atlas!!

    Thanks everyone! Yeah about the thick white paint @tekering, I really should just buy a small bottle for custom work. But I’m too lazy (or cheap ), so I just pull it from a quart can we have for touch-ups around the house.

    Oh don’t get me wrong: I enjoyed the old Highlander TV series. They took the crazy rules and concepts from the first movie and developed and explored every possible conceivable story angle they could in the TV show. And if any composer can somehow toss in Queen-like riffs into Mando, I’m pretty sure Ludwig Goransson can pull it off.

    Generally, we’ve seen claims and challenges to possession of the Dark Saber occur over one-on-one combat. Defeat of your opponent (not necessarily resulting death) is generally enough to validate one’s claim. Sabine actually defeated someone who challenged her claim to the Dark Saber, and let the dude live (what he did afterwards was his own damn fault). Of course, one red-faced dude decided in another case to go full Highlander and chop off his opponent’s head. And if we start hearing about how Mandos can’t fight on ground they deem holy, or if neutral observers must be present to watch a challenge, all while we hear Queen-like rock riffs, then I’m calling copyright infringement.

    I mean, I like an occasional instant noodle (especially if I get to mix in an egg and sometimes some cabbage). But back in those days, I was able to save the funds for my “hobbies.” Who knew date nights with the future wifey and then diapers and formula would cut into the toy budget?! But back to that listing, where does “Get itch to make your own customs” fall in the list. Or does it take about 3 or 4 cycles before that step is added?

    But are udon and soba inexpensive enough to help you offset your collectibles payments and debts? The whole eating ramen thing was a running joke back in the day for how some folks would afford to get all their Macross crack/goodies.

    Spouse and kids tend to slow the cycle down. . . . Didn’t say it stops it completely, mind you. Just slows it significantly.

    For a second there, I thought, “Oh crap! What new Voltron SOC did they just announce?!” My wallet and display space appreciate the breather.

    It doesn’t help that the Sentinel Zeta is also a darker shade of red than previous versions of the Red Alpha/Legioss. Really makes the pink hues of the pilot come out even more.

    I’m sure I’ve posted pics of Luke and Wicket before. But just wanted to snap quick comparison pics. That red Alpha got a busted heel booster, and the other heel has shown some cracks. So, kinda don’t want to move it too much. Plus, I’m super OCD about the positioning I got that Alpha and the rest of those birds locked in:

    Fighter comparison pics with the Toynami Alpha: Can definitely tell that the Sentinel Zeta is a few shades darker than the Toynami Alpha. I take back what I said earlier: the pilot figure is too pink, especially when contrasted to the darker red shade of the Legioss itself. A few observations after futzing with the mech more: * It’s so much easier to pull out the vertical stabilizers, if you open the whole thing up as if you’re flipping out the hands. * Glad the plastic in the arms is a little more pliable. Allows me to pull and get the forearm to open up so much easier. * I had a hell of a time trying to get the cockpit to snap back into place for fighter mode. There’s a little tab in the front that cockpit has to snap into. * Do wish we had the option to change the cant of the wings, but it’s a minor thing.
