Part 1 of the finale was good, but Part 2 was meh. Again, we’ll see where the story goes from here. But there’s areas that need improvement and more development.

Am I the only idiot who thought Starro moved like a guy in a rubber suit? Don’t get me wrong: it added to the character’s . . . umm . . . “charm.”

As a change of pace, probably inaccurate, but it does add to his legend: Don’t F*%k with R2-D2! 🤪

It'd be nice if they tossed in his astromech droid too.

Unabashedly violent, yet doesn’t take itself too seriously. I was looking for a silly fun romp, and this film delivered. Seriously, THAT’S how you subvert expectations!

I have my own reasons for being disappointed with Loki, but I think the guy’s fishing too much for things that aren’t there. Too surface level/superficial with his commentary. I hate that the finale dumbed itself down to the trope of “hero battling a ‘bad guy’ version of himself.” And I hate that feeling that the show didn’t close properly and felt more like set-up for the next batch of MCU films and for next season of Loki. But before that, it was a bit of a fun “Who’s lying to who?” story.

I know I’ve mentioned the show before, but seriously: Ted Lasso. After a bit of a shaky season premiere episode (one cruelly funny incident, but a bit of a reset, shake-up, and catch-up), this Season 2 Episode 2 was like a well-oiled machine, hitting on all cylinders with its comedy and heart.

Marvel Studios TV Shows and Animation on Disney+
Mog replied to sh9000's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I hate to admit it, but it doesn't surprise me. Any time a new technology or medium arises, the studios try to finagle their way around paying the writers or actors an equitable cut. It happened before when Ron Moore's BSG started producing webisodes for the internet. So of course the lawyers are going set everything to the Mouse's advantage: "Oh we can't pay you so much because of the pandemic! Oh! The premium funds from the purchases on the +? That's not in YOUR contract; you don't get a cut!"- 1403 replies

If true, these are both valid points. But they could have made him part of some sort of peacekeeping force, and then have him just have a string of bad luck. Again, the hero's journey is already laid out there. You don't have to follow the comic book beats exactly. But "ex-military guy who keeps getting hit with tragedies left and right BUT keeps getting back up" is a general enough template to develop your movie around. I swear it's like these recent movies/shows allow the story to dictate how the characters will act, rather than the characters informing where the story should go.

Let’s not crown the newest thang the king just yet. The so-called old lion may still have some bite left. It’s also kinda amusing that we’re calling a $300+ priced item “reasonably priced” now.

[Netflix] Masters of the Universe: Revelation
Mog replied to Old_Nash's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
It’s not so much the comments about “woke-ness” that keep me from watching the series, but rather Teela’s self-centered reaction to the big reveal, the trope of everyone trying to tell her the “other” big secret but getting cut off, and some of the main plot points that make me debate whether to even spend the time to watch this. I’ve got no issue with a character’s sexual orientation (Castlevania showed how to do it right with well-written and fully formed characters). And to be honest, even as a kid, I kinda loathed the original Filmation cartoon. Oh well, maybe I should seek out that early 2000’s MOTU series. -
Ooh, Blue Jet (aka Fitor)! Always had a soft spot for the old school toy. What’s your impressions of the above figure and jet mode, Kuma?

That's some of the key points, but Snake wasn't exactly special ops. Technically, Snake and Storm Shadow were part of the same LRRP (Long-Range Reconnaissance Patrol) team back in 'Nam (along with Stalker, one of the OG GI Joe members). Snake gets shot on patrol, but is saved by Storm and survives with no other injuries. Then all the bad luck starts (Hence, his code name, Snake Eyes): His parents and sister are killed in a drunk driver accident, while driving to the airport to pick him up (just after coming home from 'Nam). After mourning their deaths, Storm Shadow invites Snake to train with Storm's ninja family, but then tragedy and death strike. One of their ninja masters is killed, and Snake Eyes believes Storm did it (Storm supposedly aiming for Snake Eyes but killing the master in the process). Gets his face burned and vocal chords cut while saving Scarlett from a crashing helicopter they were in. Though injured like frak after the copter crash, elects to continue with the mission and forego any medical treatment. Now, I wouldn't expect a movie to follow all of these beats to a tee (or all the crazy links to Cobra with these tragedies). BUT I would hope a film would hit the "Good military dude who keeps getting bad breaks in life, but still keeps moving forward and completing the mission" that's absolutely CORE AND CENTRAL to Snake Eyes' character. Oh well.

Maybe all our griping about the hot pink made them go back and re-think/re-do the coloring on our red biker chick. 😶😬

The video doesn't show the Iota Legioss, which we've seen tons of pics for already. Just checked Amazon Japan, and they still list the greenie as a December release. Maybe Sentinel's waiting to make a better/bigger display with a colored Houquet prototype added to the mix? I'll still hold out hope and a candle for future Sentinel Mospeada releases. 🤞

^^Oh yeah, I feel ya! That's how I would draw Voltie as a kid too (with Red connected from its side). Looking at pics and vids now, it's debatable. But yeah, I like having all those options in the SOC.

Sorry I didn't see this earlier. I posted some pics on the previous page where you can do a wide open roar on Black Lion (in lion mode) and still not see where Voltron's face is hiding. But addressing your question above, you can see how the head looks in combined mode. Kinda hard to see where the lower teeth are, but they're there: The pic above also shows that you can move Red Lion all sorts of ways to position the arm any way you want. I'm a little leery about the shoulder connection point on the Blitzway: it's a little high up, whereas the SOC version is dead center on the shoulder. Seriously though, the posing options on SOC are sick.

You could twist the Bandai SOC’s forearm into that position.

Honestly, I forgot most of the key stuff with Hera and her dad, other than that there was tension between them. . . . And that Chop was pulled out of a wrecked Y-Wing. Hera being a damn good pilot has been hammered from a variety of Rebels eps, so that was kinda hard to forget.

Considering she and Kanan are just pups right now, I can see Hera losing the accent after a life out on the fringes, talking Basic with a bunch of different species and folks. Lotta people know how to "code switch" in real life. So, I don't have an issue with Hera having a Twi'lek accent right now in Bad Batch. Especially since it's not like she's been off of Ryloth for any significant time.
