  1. The cool thing with using something like the Volume though is that you don’t have to build the whole set, but it’s large enough to immerse the actors and make ‘em feel like they’re in a different place. Like you said, it’s now another tool to utilize to better tell and serve the story.
  2. For the first Star Wars, it’s bonkers that they built up all that stuff and all they had to show for it was two completed effects scenes by the time Lucas came back from filming. Pretty trippy too to see the change from practical models, miniatures, stop-motion, etc. to CG taking over almost everything to a sort of hybrid blending of the two methods.
  3. They really need to stop this whole pink ride armor thing.
  4. I think we've seen bits and pics here and there. But never a full set @nightmareB4macross. Awesome work pulling off that custom. I do miss the good ol' days when people were customizing Valks like crazy. For all the advances that have happened in the past decade, we're still dealing with annoying limitations with white-backed decals and stickers. I also suspect life and family responsibilities have cut into our customizing free time.
  5. Anyone catch the ILM docuseries? Probably the few rare times we'll see the original special effects from the OT. Pretty cool to see how things evolved and how they pulled off all that various work (from the original Star Wars through the Raiders of the Lost Ark to the Abyss and T2 and all the way to all the digital aspects now). Something cool to watch in the background.
  6. Another solid ep. A reviewer waxed poetic about the story and the layering done here. . . and then ended the review with the most Primal of Primal observations:
  7. Yeah, it was pretty easy to drill/manually screw into that diecast metal (left divot in the pic below): I’m wondering if some sort of hinged system (with some magnets to lock in the positions) could work to make the mod less screwdriver dependent. It’s tempting to try, but not sure I have the tools and ability to pull it off. I guess someone could also extend that metal rod and remove one of the metal bars (to allow that part to slide up and down), but it’s crazy that the whole chest/main gun/shoulder section is held on by just two sets of screws and some metal parts.
  8. Best way to describe the last ep? Do NOT eff with a man’s family, dino or otherwise.
  9. ^^More than your original modded Macross?
  10. Based on what I can see (and my limited knowledge), did you put some sort of slider mechanism in the chest assemblies (to raise the chest, arms, and main guns up ⬆️)? Or some sort of flip out/fold in bar in each chest to reposition the chest between ship and attacker mode?
  11. Babylon 5’s J. Michael Straczynski worked on Captain Power many moons ago.
  12. This one popped up on the Pandora playlist:
  13. Band-Maid as an anime?!
  14. Regarding Season 2, Episode 5: well that was . . . . . . . . . different.
  15. Considering they enslaved a bunch of folks, they kinda got what they deserved. But give credit to Gennedy for making you feel sorry for the survivors. Amazing how they can pull off nuances with this show.
  16. Between the launch arms and the FlightPose, I’d still take the FlightPose stands for the flexibility and posing options. However, I do miss the rock solid base and rubber nubs of the old version of the stand. The newer ones feel a little too light and hollow.
  17. Burning away the memory of this figure’s original headsculpt:
  18. Can the angle be changed, or are they fixed to stay straight?
  19. So, who’s left of the original crew: Shat’, Takai, and Koenig?
  20. Didn’t realize that Lester Pocket is actually Leoben from BSG. Dude tends to be cast in those slightly creepy roles.
  21. Watched the first three Season 2 eps already available. These eps “feel” slow plotwise but are still very visceral.
