So, I finally got the Haslab Star Wars Ghost (for their 3.75” figure line). Even though it’s a premium item, I wound up using almost every custom technique (and then some) in my personal toolbox to tweak the ship and included figures. * Opened up the ship and wired in some lights, including lights for the cockpit and for the engines. Placed switches on the outside of the ship for easier access and to allow for removing/replacing the batteries down the line: * Dirtied up and painted in some details on the bottom center fuselage, as it was pretty much blank and unpainted: * Added scorching to each of the gun turret barrels: * Tweaked these figures ever so slightly to make them more in-line with their appearances in Rebels: * Manually added killmarks to the canopy (including one significant one from the series finale): * Created stickers of the Ghost logo and added them to the ship: * I had a spot in mind to place it, but holy crap! The completed ship is friggin’ huge!!: Still, so glad to finally have one of personal holy grails in-hand!

I would expect after 15+ years for there to be massive improvements to the toy design of the Tread/Beta Fighter. But the Toynami one, despite all its flaws, was pretty damn good for its time. And the combined fighter mode actually looked like one connected craft (unlike CM’s split-level abomination). Don’t get me wrong: I’m excited for Sentinel’s rendition (other than the fixed pose pilot and the lack of missiles on the standard release). But show some respect for the old Toynami king.

See, it’s a friggin’ tank!! 😅 And either Jim’s truck is hella fast, or the Legiosses and Tread don’t need to fly fast to stay airborne.

The idea for a Gatling gun came from this scratch-build that showed up long before CM’s or Toynami released their renditions: http://policap-inside.cocolog-nifty.com/blog/2007/06/post.html . . . And it never hurts to have a gun mounted to a slow-moving plane with a crapload of ordinance 😉:

Still have one more issue to resolve (once I get the Sentinel Tread in hand), but this will work (and spin!) for soldier mode : IMG_7929.mov

It helps that he’s a pirate with about 500 aliases. Charming but willing to slit your throat if necessary.

Painted up and demonstrating proof of concept: Looks I will have to “extend” the trigger to properly two-hand it.

I still despise the hot pink they picked for Houquet. But if you’re willing to take the time to add some custom touches (or wholesale repaint in Houquet’s case) the whole Sentinel team makes for a damn fine display:

The Toynami/Beagle is probably the gold standard for Ride Armors. But they only did two variants. Sentinel has the four mains; only them and CM’s have that. But Sentinel can have a few issues: certain joints could get cracked at the factory, the HUD lines on the helmet are a bit much, and they put Houquet in hot pink. CM’s has a more complete lineup, but are prone to breakage.

^^Yeah, that’s the case with Amazon Japan for this instance. Not sure if they’re forcing upfront payment for the Legioss reissue too. The only bright side to this is that the Yen to USD exchange rate is pretty favorable on the US side of things.

Is Pose+ utilizing any of the transformation improvements that Sentinel did with their Legioss? The change in the cockpit/nosecone process was a massive improvement for soldier mode.

The original release of the blue had super tight shoulders. But it’s solid as hell and can hold a pose with no floppy joints to be found. It’s easily the best rendition of the Legioss/Alpha Fighter currently out there. The biggest main drawback is that the figure, while having movable joints, is one solid color and not really painted.

Release from Japan sources will get sent out around August. US sites will get them from the slow boat, and then ship them out from US. So, whole process will probably take you out to October. So, lower price from vendor on Amazon US, but will take longer to receive it.

Who the hell allowed the Transformers jet aesthetic (with tons of excess kibble/robot bits on the jet’s underside) in the AI criteria?!!

I always thought it was only the missiles that were a “Japan shipping address only” exclusive. But the Tread itself is available to any location (sans missiles).

Welp, decided to give the Tread a little “extra” firepower: Still gotta paint it up and may need to jerry-rig a way to extend the length between the trigger and the handle. But it should work for the big burly bastard. And the barrels rotate!

I’m a few days old in discovering that these are the original sources for some very famous hooks 😳: Specifically, the 2:10 mark: Dah-dah, duh-duh-dah. . .

At least, the Yen to USD exchange rate is pretty damn favorable for us Yanks right now.

I was able to preorder one from Amazon Japan and will be getting it shipped directly to the US. So 🤷♂️ Got the reds relatively quickly this way before too (Zeta Legioss and Houquet).

^^At least it’s not Bandai preorder levels of stupidity. The non-exclusive version of the Tread is still available for anyone that wants to get it still.
