Why Macross merchandises (toys) are relatively expensive?
Mog replied to Vintage Fanboy's topic in Toys
It's far worse if you're not into VF-1's. Your options are pretty limited when it comes to Plus, Zero, Seven, or Frontier valks. Hell, the original mothership (TV SDF-1) doesn't have many large scale options available, even after all these years. Add in the issues you may come across with these older releases, and it can get pretty dicey. Even something as reliable as the Yamato 1/48's had issues where some releases had crooked skull-and-crossbones on the tailfins. -
The homages to Alien and other sci-if horror films was strong. Was actually a nicely done ep. Though a part of me was surprised they rounded up the villagers, rather than do the usual “leave no witnesses” methods the Empire is famous for.

Decided to try out the non-helmeted heads. Yeah, she’s got the grumpy scowl going when you look at her from below:

We should start a drinking game: every time we see a new Mando armor onscreen, take a shot. . . . We would’ve all been dead of alcohol poisoning within the first 5 minutes.- 1438 replies

Well, the protagonists have been pretty one-dimensional too, except for Crosshair.

Even though I never got it, the original 1/48 Low-Visibility version. Looks like a color scheme that could actually exist in the “real world.” And no bright colored trim to make it stick out and defeat the whole purpose of being low-viz. -
That why I feel COCAINE BEAR’s underlying theme (that our wanton, unchecked consumerism, our insatiable desire for more (symbolized by CB’s desire for moar coke!!!11!!) will undoubtedly lead to our own destruction and of everything around us) pierces to the very core of my being. 🤓 😶. . . 🤪

I can kick my young kids out of their rooms (and use their rooms for more display spaces), right? I mean they’re eventually gonna leave the house, right?! I’d just be accelerating the process! 🤪

Three? I thought you’d have to buy EIGHT copies: * One for fighter mode; * One for Armo-Diver mode; * One for solo Armo-Soldier mode; * One for combined Fighter/Bomber mode; * One for combined Fighter/Tread Armo-Diver mode (think half-GERWALK mode); * One for combined Soldier/Bomber mode; * One to pose in Soldier mode with the Tread’s Soldier mode; and * One to keep MISB.

Nah, open it up and play with it. I know the joints on the blue are ridiculously tight. But it’s probably still the best Legioss toy out there now. No flopping parts in fighter mode, and can hold all sorts of poses in Soldier mode.

Because he was redundant with Tech? Because he doesn’t have a genetic quirk like the original Batch members? Because the writers can’t write stories that actually deal with Echo’s issues and struggles? Story reasons? Because Echo wants to help Rex save their fellow brothers, and he knows the Batch’s main goal is to protect Omega and try to stay off of the Imperial’s radar. EDIT: Echo was becoming the conscience for Hunter and the voice of reason amongst the team.

Minmay Guard schemes. Considering they put Sheryl on a VF-171, it’s not without precedent. But would Bandai be able to pull them off with the skill and care that the old master customizers once did on these boards?

Because adding a full string orchestra, pyro, and lights makes a song 40% more awesomer 🤪:

If those Stealths need a CAG, I got you covered: . . . Part of me regrets not getting the OG Low-Viz. But them’s the breaks.

RIP Burt Bacharach: It’s bonkers how many songs this guy composed and wrote.

I think the Disney overlords leave the animated stuff alone and don’t value it as highly as the live action stuff. But yeah, this was a solid two-parter. And if I’m a Clone with a massive secret about the Republic or the Empire, I’m staying the hell away from that bar!

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever - November 11, 2022
Mog replied to sh9000's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Phase 4 of the MCU was just too all over the map. They’re setting up the secret, morally questionable government stuff (Thunderbolts, Valentina, and Sharon Carter). Whatever the heck the Eternals was supposed to be. The Young Avengers/replacements for the “old”/retired heroes. Mutants. The Skrulls and space/Capt. Marvel stuff. And then all the multiverse stuff. And now, it’s too easy for the MCU to fall prey to spamming the multiverse concept for cool cameos and using that idea as a plot-crutch/excuse. Hopefully, having one major “bad guy” will refocus everything. But we’ll see. The best MCU entries were those that focused on the characters and gave us a good story. Unfortunately, Marvel’s success rate in hitting these two things has been pretty low for Phase 4.- 87 replies

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever - November 11, 2022
Mog replied to sh9000's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
As a guy who has had to go through some losses of loved ones, I thought the movie was solid. I get the mixed bag of emotions that the Queen Mother and Shuri were dealing with throughout the movie. And the idea of a vibranium arms race and thinking Wakanda is vulnerable makes sense. No doubt, there’s some bits that are meh, but the film isn’t as bad as say the last Thor or Dr. Strange movies were.- 87 replies

Umm, pretty sure you can block a red shell from hitting, if you lock a shell or banana behind you. Duh. 🤓

The character is from a new manga, Genesis Breakers. It’s a side story set during the original Mospeada timeframe (I think ).

It makes zero sense to me why the Retro Mando has a blue kneepad/weapon launcher. My best guess is that Hasbro is just lazy.

Never got the O-ring version. YoJoe.com may have info, but I suspect those figures had the Duke/Airborne backpack. The 25th/30th version had two backpack options: a green Duke backpack and a tan Zap bazooka rounds backpack. Those later figures from the line were loaded with a crapload of weapons and accessories. Lastly, traditionally, the jetpack has been associated with Grand Slam or with Stalker. But never with the Steel Brigade figures.
