For a minute there, I thought I was looking at Haruko and her Vespa (FLCL). But the look of the bike/scooter is all wrong.

Unfortunately, the canopy is in the original box, which itself is in another box, which is probably under another box. At least with the canopy and heatshield off, you get to see an unobstructed view of the VF-1A's cockpit. Don't have the VF-0, or I probably would've added it to the comparison mix too. I like the battroid look of the VF-0A, but the whole shoulder issue is preventing me from taking the plunge. Plus, I'm just not feeling the battroid mode of the Pope Mecha. (Wanna keep these newest releases paired up with their "rivals.") Jenius, I can't really argue against the numbers data you provided. But just from a visual standpoint, it surprised me how well the "1/55" Scott figure fit in with the 1/60 Yamato planes. Maybe the Toynami Alphas are 1/52. Or maybe the Yamato 1/60's are actually larger than 1/60 scale. Or maybe the scale comparisons between the 1/60 VF-1's and the 1/60 YF-19 are slightly off and inconsistent. Oh well, who knows?
-
And while they're at it, can they make an Ace that looks more like a pilot and less like an astronaut?
-
Please tell me someone is gonna be insane enough to do the Mospeada Ride Armors with these figures.

Next up, some comparison pics of the pilots chillin' on a VF-1: Empty: [attachmentid=39959] w/Scott: [attachmentid=39960] w/Isamu: [attachmentid=39961] Remember, the Isamu figure doesn't have feet, so I'm guessing this 1/60 scale Isamu would be a very snug fit in the 1/60 VF-1. So, what are my conclusions? 1. Perhaps, the Isamu pilot is slightly larger than 1/60 scale. We know that the 19 is supposed to be a 2-seater, and yet, I'm already wondering how much of Yang they're gonna have to chop up to get him to fit in the back. Now, am I complaining about Yamato making a larger-size pilot? HECK NO! I don't mind the slightly larger size (and greater detail) on the pilots, as long as it isn't ridiculously off scale. 2. We've all heard the arguments on whether the MPC Alpha is really 1/48, 1/55, or some scale in-between the two (credit Jenius for that one). But just judging the scale of the bird by the scale of the pilot, is it possible that the MPC Alphas are actually closer to 1/60 scale? In any case, these are just some pet theories of mine after taking these pics. Feel free to argue, debate, and discuss. And now, some fighter pics and one battroid/battloid comparison pic. Enjoy! [attachmentid=39962][attachmentid=39963][attachmentid=39964][attachmentid=39965][attachmentid=39966] P.S.--Sorry about the VF-1 heatshield, but I was too lazy to dig up the canopy or the filler-peg that goes in the fuselage. Also, I was too damn lazy to attach the hands back in battroid mode.

After looking at the Isamu pilot that came with the YF-19 and thinking to myself "Is it just me, or does this pilot look a heckuva lot bigger than the MPC pilots?", I decided to take some comparison pictures.....Plus, Kyp's pics of his collection also gave me the itch to compare the 1/60 YF-19 to the 1/60 VF-1 in fighter mode. First up, a close-up pic of all three birds (the 1/60 Yamato VF-1A, the 1/60 Yamato YF-19, and the 1/55 Toynami MPC Alpha) [attachmentid=39956] Because there's a few things (and a bunch of pics) I want to discuss, I'll split this into two posts. Now, I think we can all agree (in theory) that a 1/55 scale human/pilot should be slightly bigger than a 1/60 scale human/pilot. So, I took a couple of comparison shots of the pilots (I know the 1/60 VF-1's had some cut-off pilots, but I only have the DYRL Max, and that doesn't come with one.) [attachmentid=39954][attachmentid=39955] Even without his feet, it appears that Isamu is at least the same size (if not bigger) than Scott. Next up, I decided to mix and match the pilots with the different planes. First up, the "1/55" scale Scott pilot: Next to the VF-1 cockpit: [attachmentid=39957] In the YF-19: [attachmentid=39958] Surprisingly, the Scott figure seems to fit in scale nicely with both Yamato birds. (A few things to note: I couldn't shove Scott into the VF-1 since it wasn't designed to fit a pilot. And I had to remove the 19's seat, since the peg on the Scott figure would've gotten in the way of the pilot sitting in the cockpit properly.) More in my next post (plus, some opinions/conclusions).

"Give him the stick..........................NO, DON'T GIVE HIM THE STICK!!!!!" Replying to baronv: Yeah, I checked out yojoe.com after making that post and saw how horrid those glasses accessory looked. But what's sad is that after 20+ years of making these figures (plus the additional experience from making the recent Star Wars figures), you'd think Hasbro would've done a better job on the updated figure. Oh well. As much as I wouldn't mind Rock & Roll (heck, he was one of the first Joes I ever got), I think Mr. "Porkchop Sandwiches"* already has the heavy machine gunner spot taken. * EDIT: Dammit, I'm an idiot. That should be Mr. "BODY MASSAGE", not Mr. "Porkchop Sandwiches." Thanks for the indirect reminder, chowyunskinny.

^^Graham's latest bread-crumb/clue. I guess I'll start the speculatin'. We gonna get some "Zentradi CF"?

Regarding Snake Eyes: THAT is one hell of an update on the original version! Wonder if they're gonna pack him with a sword? (Of course, there's nothing wrong with bringing a gun to a sword-fight. ) The main reason I have a preference for the second version is that the visored version is the Snake-Eyes I associate most frequently with the old Marvel comics' storylines. But in any case, me likes this update on the original! Wasn't there a version of the Baroness that has removable glasses? I would think making them an accessory would be a better idea that these over-painted raccoon eyes. And she needs to look more evil or more "femme fatale." Who else would we all like to see remade? My personal preferences: * Zartan * Stalker * Firefly * Grunt (The signature standard Joe. And one of the original first releases to boot!)
-
Yes, but which version would they release? The original version? Or the signature bad-ass second version? They're not a bad update, but I do wish the proportions were a little less exaggerated. So, is this the GI Joe verison of the recent Star Wars' Vintage line? Lastly, will the remaining ones be Snake, Stalker, Cobra Commander, Destro, and Baroness?

Where's the 1/48 Roy's left hand?

.....Holy Mother of God.

I'm surprised no one else has made any comparisons between Blue-Tooth Graham and our own Graham. Both are well-connected. Both like to keep secrets. And both have knowledge that we consider vitally important.........[Jack Bauer style]: TELL US WHAT YOU KNOW!!!!!!!!! [/Jack Bauer style]

Sorry to jump back to an earlier post. But the thing that would worry me more than the price is that almost all the key articulation points are where the vehicles connect. Not exactly a good formula for tight joints and cool poseability. ....Okay, let's get back to some more wild speculation!

I can't really complain that much. Yes, gerwalk mode is floppy. And yes, I wish there was more movement in the ankles (for more posing possibilities in both gerwalk and battroid). But as far as transforming the 19? Other than that extra force needed to collapse the fuselage/cockpit area and needing a toothpick or paper-clip to move that dark grey part in the backpack, I don't have any real problems transforming mine. Thanks, Wicked Ace. Those schemes ain't too shabby (Actually, I like that "Scorpion" scheme a little more.) But I have another scheme in mind that I'm working/revising in this little brain of mine. Speaking of schemes, what about an Ivanov scheme for either the YF-19 or the YF-21? Also, didn't someone mention that the YF-19 without its helmet or visor looks kinda like an Eva Unit? Wonder if anyone will be crazy enough (I mean that in a good way) to paint the 19 in one of those Eva color schemes.

True. But I'm sure the 1/60 VF-1 would get dwarfed too, if it were added to the mix. Also, I think if we were ever to connect the Legioss to its "big brother"/back-up, it'd probably even things up a little bit in the size comparison. -

Well how about a Stealth-schemed YF-21? Hypothetically speaking, of course.

I think it's pretty obvious which 80's anime I personally want it to be. Yes, I'd die a happy man if I could get a Legioss/Tread combo (large-scale, transformable, and connecting, of course). But it'd be pretty sweet too to see the Ride Armors done with revoltech-style joints and articulation. But the "popular" blurb and HG/Toynami having the rights to Mospeada make me think otherwise. Oh well, a man can dream......

HOLY COW!!!!! I wasn't completely into this season during the first two hours (alright beginning, but kinda on the "meh" side), but those last two major shockers tonight got me hooked in for another season. DUH-YAM!! I hate to say it, but Curtis himself elevated it to that point. I understand where Curtis was coming from, and I'd have a hard time letting go too. So cuss the guy out, rough him up, beat him up a bit, hell, put a cap in his knee if you want to. But don't push it beyond that point. Lastly, if THAT is what it takes to make Jack "get his groove back," remind me to stay beyond a 1000 mile radius of the man!
-
The hard part about worrying about those chips is that the part requires a nice bit of force to get it into position for battroid mode (at least on mine).

Oh! I'd be remiss if I didn't mention one other thing from earlier in this thread: Bring forth to Prophet Eugimon the finest meats and cheeses in all the land!! And four supple, vestial virgins for him to ravage in whatever manner he chooses!!.....................No, no, no, not the fat, pasty-white, nerdy virgins. The hot-looking, FEMALE ones.
