You the man, Shin. Thanks as always for the pic links. Glad to see they re-did the paint apps on Stalker's face. He now looks like the Stalker I remember. Still not completely sold on the colors Hasbro's using for the camo, but it may grow on me. Maybe it's because the pic is slightly blurry, but the figure ALMOST looks like Lady Jaye. It'd help if Hasbro could "puff out" her hair a little more and sculpt her hair out a little closer to the cap. Still, I'm glad to see someone posing the gun holster a bit more properly.

Unless she's a Cylon? (This is mere speculation on my part; I've been staying the hell away from spoilers for Razor or Season 4). As for the covers, add another vote for C.

Eh, we'll just distract him with a giant pit of teeth or with a "dirty little smuggler" (wantin' a little piece o' Boba? ). Besides, he's too tied up with legal suits from all the clones trying to stake claim to the estate of Jango Fett. And hey, I never said anything too offensive about the Empire; I'll gladly sell out those Bothan spies to the Imperials. (Just don't ask the Bothans who they got the DEATH Star plans from. )

Okay, I'll be semi-serious for once on this thread. How about a full weapon set for the YF-19? Missiles and launchers galore ("saturation"). And a new fangled gunpod with a flip-out bayonet (the "penetration" part). A longshot, I know. .......Unless, we're looking at this the wrong way?! What if it's not a Macross-related release at all?!! Perhaps, the Yammie folks are trying to "penetrate" into a franchise/product that's already "saturated" with competitors/rivals? Anyways, so, what's everyone's interpretation on the latest Graham siggy : "My 3.3 year old son is really into watching my VCDs of Combattler V and Great Mazinger at the moment and has taken over my SOC Combattler V toy." EDIT: Sumdumgai, we should clarify that our SDF-1 guesses were for the TV VERSION. The DYRL version is still out in play.

This isn't exactly a new pose from me. But I just really dig the way the light from my stairway shines down on the 19. Consider this "Strike a Lighting Effect" : It's just a little something that puts a smile on my face before I head up to sleep.

Considering how interrelated both Snake Eye's and Cobra Commander's early orgins are, I wouldn't mind them using Snake Eyes as the character the audience naturally gravitates toward. For the first film, you really don't need to go into Snake's ninja past. Between his family's story, his pre-Joe military career, and his first few Joe missions (especially when he gets disfigured), there's enough "meat" and backstory to make Snake Eyes a compelling character. I'm not saying make the entire movie be about him. But there are enough reasons to make Snake one of the main characters in the film.

Too bad they couldn't modify the release to make it the ultimate, signature version of the TV Skull-One instead. Imagine both TV Hik' and Roy pilots, the fat TV hands, and all the other minute details that separate the TV VF-1S from the DYRL version. That'd be a nice way to freshen up the old bird.

Thanks for the link, Shin! I'm really digging the Zartan. Maybe it's the obvious snarl on his face, but he looks a bit better than the version we saw from SDCC. As for Stalker, where do I begin?!! baronv is right: what in the blue hell is Stalker doing with blue eyes?! The prototype looked so awesome, and yet, this painted version gets almost everything wrong. Along with the eyes, I personally think his camo should be more dark green and less yellow (Maybe Hasbro should reverse the color pattern Stalker currently has.). All this is especially frustrating since Stalker was one of the first Joes I ever got. Two other thoughts I haven't mentioned in earlier posts: 1) Why is it that every shot I've seen of Lady Jaye shows her gun holster riding up her waist/torso? I really hope it's just a matter of Hasbro folks not knowing how to pose the holster right (and not a design issue). 2) The Cobra Trooper's sigal(sp?) should be red instead of the white they used. So what if they already released the red one with the 5-pack; the red ones are a no-brainer, troop-builder! Other than Firefly, Zartan, and MAYBE Beachhead, I'm just not as psyched up for these next two waves anymore.

Okay, I'll throw out my wild idea....... Saturation Penetration = Daedalus Attack? "Penetrate" a Zent' hull and "saturate" it with Destroid weapons of death? So, would that mean a larger scale, TV-version of the SDF-1?!

Anyone else think the new 25th Anniversary color schemes kinda look like this "Scorpion" color scheme from way back when? Link. (That's not necessarily a bad thing, especially since I do like the Scorpion scheme.)

Larry Hama is more well known for pretty much being the main writer for the old Marvel GI Joe comic book series. Generally speaking, a lot of us big-time GI Joe fans may have been exposed first to GI Joe by way of the toys and the cartoon. But the comic book series is something that has definitely contributed greatly to the longevity and our fondness for the whole GI Joe franchise. If I saw the words "Written by Larry Hama" in this potential movie's credits, I'd be a lot less worried. (Of course, if the director is some hack or studio lackey, I'd still be very worried.)

Damn nice custom, Wicked Ace!! When I saw the first pic, my first impression was "Sweet! Someone made a stealth version of the 19!" Took me awhile to notice too, but I see that you placed the UN Spacy logo higher up on the leg, above the wings. Nice little different touch there.

Wasn't there a lot of complaints back in the day about certain parts of the 1/60 GBP falling off if you even looked at 'em funny? Yeah, I'd say go with the 1/48 blue one too. It's iconic and makes Hik's VF-1J look bigger and meaner than all his other Fast/Strike-Packed 1J brothers and sister. Just remember: the first step to recovering from Valkyholism is to admit that you have a problem.

Yep, that video was definitely cheesy. But it was admirably-done, skillfully-made cheese. Kudos to whoever made it.

Personally, I'd like them to take a more serious, more "grounded in realty" take on Cobra. (Hell, I'd like at least a third of the movie be about the rise of Cobra and the origins of Cobra Commander.) If I remember the comic books correctly, Cobra was pretty much a home-grown terrorist organization. How would group like this start in the US? Would enough people be so disillusioned by the world, the B.S. spewed by politicians and the nightly news, the ridiculous focus on budgets and mission statements at their jobs, and the crap that passes for entertainment these days that a group like Cobra could actually succeed? Granted they'd have to change Cobra Commander from the shrill beeyotch we all know from the cartoon into a skilled and influential orator (something along the lines of an Abraham Lincoln or an MLK, perhaps?). But if they did this kind of take with the movie, I'd be very intrigued. Of course, this is Hollywood we're talking about here. So most likely, we'll get something that peddles to the lowest common denominator (as bsu so wisely put it). Or even worse, we'll get some way-too-preachy, overly-political piece of crap. Or even worse than that, they'll revamp the 25th Aniversary figures to become more "movie accurate."

My memory's a little hazy, but I'm pretty sure Lady Jaye sported the cap a number of times in the comics. As for the upcoming figure, I don't know what exactly it is about the sculpt and paint apps, but it just doesn't "look" like Lady Jaye to me. I look at the face, and it just doesn't remind me of either the cartoon version, the comic version, or the version depicted on the card art. My first impression was that the eyes didn't look right. Maybe they should be a little bit bigger or a little more exotic-looking (sorta like the card art). Also, I think the lower part of her face is just a tad bit too wide or "puffy." Add to that the slightly-too-large cap, and her face just looks off. This is especially disappointing when you considering how dead-on the new Flint looks by comparison.
