  1. Well if ol' ED-209 wipes out the old Yamato QC guy and the guy who designs the Yamato Macross boxes, would that necessarily be a bad thing?
  2. I think you've just added Reason No. 636 for why we all love Millia so much. P.S.--The attached pics (attached using the MW board) are back up on the old thread.
  3. Thanks Shin! Actually, the soft goods material is from the Jedi cloak that comes from the Anakin/Vader Evolutions pack. The stuff's too damn shiney to be a Jedi cloak. (The material they used for the TAC Mace and other recent Jedi makes a much, much better cloak in my opinion.....and it photographs better too). But the shiney material works well enough for a faux-leather bomber jacket.
  4. That fixed it! Thanks, Hurin!!
  5. Guess I'm gonna have to eat my words again in this thread.... I picked up the Joe "Senior" Officers 3-pack a few days ago, and ol' Grunt really isn't all that bad. Thankfully, they didn't give him the dreaded Duke arms or its rolled-up sleeves (Instead, I believe they swapped in the Cobra trooper arms). Grunt's hands are a little annoying but semi-workable, and yeah, I would have preferred if his uniform was a little more dark, olive-drab than semi-bright green. But after giving him a sand-paper shave (he looks a bit too scruffy out of the box), he works just fine. He now looks like the clean-cut, standard grunt (pun intended) that I remember from my childhood. I'm also a bit surprised by how much I like the General Hawk that comes in this set. Must be something about the simple military fatigues/uniform. For whatever reason, the get-up also inspired me to do up this little custom/modification: Not exactly perfect, I know. But I wasn't too impressed with how the bomber jacket looked on the upcoming General Hawk (in my opinion, just too small and tight for the figure). The 3-pack Hawk looked like he needed a little something extra, I preferred the look of a bulkier bomber jacket, and I wanted to try my hand at modifying (read: SEWING!! ) some soft goods materials.
  6. Hey Hurin (and the rest of our secret ninja website maintenance admin.). I just noticed that when a thread gets moved to the Hall of Super Topics, the picture attachments (the ones posted using MW's board features, NOT the pics attached using some outside photo gallery) somehow get lost in the transition. I've tried clicking some old pictutres that I attached on both the old "Strike a Pose" and the original YF-21 thread. And none of the attachments on those moved threads seem to work anymore. I even tried accessing my own attachments using "My Controls" and "Manage Your Attachments." And neither worked. Understand, there are also some pics that I attached just a few days/weeks ago, and those too no longer work ever since the threads moved. Is there anything that can be done or are we just S.O.L.? Thanks for keep the boards up and running from day-to-day!!
  7. Please do. There's a pic in jenius' Tread review that shows all the "un-paneled" etchings and details. It's just a shame that most photos can't show that level of detail. Though, I'm sure panel-lining will bring out those details a lot more.
  8. ^^Just remember, some of the older posts probably lost their picture attachments with the passage of time. (Or the poster decided to delete some of his old attachments. ) EDIT: You know what: I take that back. Apparently, when the thread was moved, the attachments (for those of us who use the MW board's picture attachment feature) somehow got mucked up. I can't even see the pics I personally posted on the old thread. I've posted something up on the Member Feedback to see if there's anything Shawn or Hurin can do about that. It'd be a shame to lose all those kick-butt pics.
  9. I actually enjoyed all the various plotlines. If the entire episode had been all about the Forbidden Four and Cally's discovery, it probably would've dragged a bit. Besides, we gotta remember: this is the last season. They gotta keep the major stories and plotlines moving and progressing. And in that regard, I think they did a good job. My comments: First the President and now Tory.....must be something onboard Colonial One that makes everyone b!tchy. Is it just me, or did the actress that plays Cally portray the whole "psycho chick" bit a little too well? Definitely dug the Zarek, Apollo, and Quorum of Twelve stuff. Apollo may be a newbie at all this political stuff, but at least he's showing some spine. I just hope Zarek ISN'T the final Cylon. I love how the character just keeps treading that grey area: never being shown as a "good guy" or a "bad guy." For me, making Zarek a Cylon would kinda undermine all that cool greyness he has. And lastly, forget feeling sorry for Cally, you gotta feel for ol' Felix Gaeta. Imagine him getting called in to work this mission: ADMIRAL: Mr. Gaeta, I've got an assignment for you. GAETA: Great. What is it? ADMIRAL: I want you to help us find the way to Earth. GAETA: Very well, where....... ADMIRAL: I'm reassigning you to this hot, stinky, sewage treatment ship. GAETA: Okay? ADMIRAL: And Kara Thrace is in charge of the mission...... GAETA: AH FRAK!!
  10. It does have some serious flaws though: the lack of the vest, the pink kibble on his artificial hand, the grey (and matted) boots, and the bath-towel tabbards that wrap around Luke's neck instead of laying flat on his shoulders. With straight-out-of-the-box flaws like these, I can understand why opinions about this figure are so divisive. .....Of course, it didn't stop me from buying, customizing, and modifying two of them. And articulation-wise, the figure is a hell of a lot more poseable than the Jedi Lukes that preceded him.
  11. Apparently, Macross fighter mechs are pretty popular, even amongst pilots from other toy-lines....... : Ace: "No.............Mr. Handgun-In-Your-Face says I'M flying the YF-19...B!TCH!!"
  12. I may be a critic of this thing, its price, and its design choices/look. But after looking at one of the close-up pics in jenius' Tread review, I think I've come up with one very necessary request: we need someone to panel-line this sumbitch up properly.
  13. Yeah, I've checked most of the local Targets. And other than finding what I believe were the leftovers of a Wave 6 once, all I've ever see at most Targets are freakin' Buzzers and the Wave 1 comic packs. I'd like to get IG Destro, Torpedo, and Flash. But Flash is definitely the key one for me in those waves (Flash, Stalk', and Rock were the first Joes I ever had. Massive sentimental reasons for me). Totally agree. Whenever I think of Grunt, I think of the consummate professional soldier: clean-cut, takes his job seriously, and doesn't have any hint of sloppiness in his uniform or his look. Grunt's "update" just makes him look lazy and sloppy. C'mon now Hasbro, just take General Hawk. Swap in a new head and the regular helmet (without the visor). Plop an M-16 in his hand. Give him a small backpack. And viola, you've got yourself a Grunt.
  14. Please tell me Hasbro isn't seriously considering making HK-47 a build-a-figure. Unless he's an electronic-talking bastard or his parts are packaged with other KOTOR figures I want, I can see the whole exercise becoming very annoying. I don't want to expend a bunch of cash on "meh" characters I have no interest in, just to get the parts needed to make HK. Worse, I don't wanna deal with idiot scalpers who'll buy up figures just because they have a rare/short-packed part of HK.
  15. Do we still have to use spoiler tags now? My comments going from beginning of ep to the end: Loved Kara's speech and points at the beginning. I love it when the characters remember and bring up key stuff from the past. What a nice way to get back to our "Cylon slice of life" storyline: hearing that strangely appropriate Moonlight Sonata-like theme again; a naked Sharon doing some ballet/tai-chi junk; and Cavil being a snarky, foul-mouthed preacher. Someone check on myk: he must have fainted after seeing Racetrack "pay up" for losing that card hand. Got giddy like a school-girl with the return of Head Baltar! That scene with the two of them was just too much fun!! Roslin must have her b!tch dial turned up to 11 this week. Was it just me, or did it look like the Centurions were flipping a little "FRAK YOU!" with their gun-mounts? Anyone else catch that little nod from the Admiral to Helo? Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but I definitely wasn't getting a warm and fuzzy from it.
  16. Nice to see the new upcoming waves. But dammit, I still haven't seen Wave 5 anywhere in my neck of the woods! It's getting to be downright annoying. I'd be more excited about the new waves, but it's just frustrating when I can't seem to find the older ones (Wave 5 and 6) anywhere these past few weeks/months. In the interim, I caved in and purchased the Ace/Wild Weasel comic pack. Definitely dig WW. But really wasn't feeling "Astro" Ace's look. So, I gave him a repaint and helmet swap for a slightly more traditional pilot jock look : Whaddya think?
  17. Cool. If they have to delay the release a little bit to fine tune the molds and stuff, I'm sure we'll all deal with it. I'd rather wait and get a high-quality bird, rather than have Yamato rush to market and give us 21's with a bunch of annoying issues and flaws. ......And it also gives our fearless leader more time to write up his review (or put his prototype YF-21 through some more rigorous "testing").
  18. Very nice modding there, Sam. As has already been mentioned, it's too bad CM's didn't just make two connecting booms: one for the Legioss Soldier combo and the other for the fighter combo. Also, very nice work with the pic, jenius. Now you just need to stick a crapload of missiles onto the Tread's wings.
  19. Well, I think that Kat's final episode kinda messed up the character for me. The big reveal where she has this deep, dark secret past never really clicked with me. Whereas, I think Ellen's actions and death in Season 3 really helped to give her character a lot of much-needed depth. In any case, put me down for $10 on Laura Roslin being the last Cylon. I know it's probably a long-shot. But it would be ever-so-slightly plausible, and it would be one hell of a shocker. Imagine how both Adamas would react to such a reveal. Imagine how the whole fleet would feel, once they find out their dying leader is a frakkin' toaster. Hell, imagine Laura's reaction herself, especially when her first reaction is to space most Cylons out the nearest airlock. And there is some history to support this idea: her visions (even if they are Kamala extract-induced) way back in Season 1, her sparing the life of Hera (Sharon's baby), and her shared visions of the opera house with Athena and Caprica Six. Again, probably a long-shot. But I'll put down some funds for some bragging rights.
  20. ^^Sneaky pic, jenius.... The angle makes it hard to see the mis-angled missile rack and how "meh" the MPC to Tread connection really is. (Just flip the pic 180 degrees. You'll see what I'm mean. )
  21. Just for ruskii (since he mentioned the X-Wing and the VTSC Pilot Luke) : It may not be as iconic as the "looking out into the setting twin suns" scene. But I've always enjoyed this pose for Luke. I was pleased as punch when I got the figure to pose like that on the X-Wing. Whether it's him about to go up and face the Death Star in ANH or him promising Yoda he'll return in Empire, this little pose and display for Pilot Luke always puts a smile on my face.
  22. Not for me! I'm sure I'll be doing some double-barreled posing of this pup in battroid mode.
  23. After watching tonight's episode, I think you might be on to something there, kaiotheforsaken. Sometimes Baltar seems like too obvious a choice, but we'll see how the season unfolds. I know Baltar's been going with the whole "Jesus look" as of late. But after this episode, I'm getting more of a Paul vibe from Baltar's character path, especially if he winds up taking this religious conversion far more seriously. In any case, it'll be interesting to see how all of this and the other stories unfold throughout this final season. Definitely dug all the "ironic" scenes with the Hidden Four too! Much like the previous two season premieres, this one takes the crazy-ass shuffling that goes on in the season finale and shows you that not everything is gonna be easily resolved in the next few episodes. Good and intriguing stuff all around. And may I say: it's great to have new Galactica eps back on the air!! SO SAY WE ALL!!
  24. Thanks for the reviews guys!! Glad you were willing to point out their good aspects and their flaws (and also for the extra time you all spent taking the pics and writing up the long posts). I'll have to see if the price goes down before I plunk down some funds for these. But even then, I have a feeling I'd be putting these puppies under the knife to modify 'em. The fighter combo's a very important aspect for me. So, it bums me CMs didn't get this down pat.
