  1. I don't think Keanu can pull off the "simmering rage beneath a calm facade" that's necessary to play Vicious. I'm still thinking Ein is the role best suited for him. I mean if George Clooney can play the part of Sparky, the Gay Homosexual Dog on South Park, then surely Keanu with his perplexed/confused/dazed look and his occasional outbursts of emotion can faithfully portray Ein.
  2. No. The sweet, sweet elixir of Yoshinol is reserved only for the most repentant of converts. This young blogger has merely taken the first step in his perilous (yet rewarding) journey towards Macross enlightenment. To allow the lips of such a young, inexperienced, and un-versed initiate to touch the sacred Yoshinol would only cheapen and demean our most treasured of beverages. It would be akin to awarding the gold medal prior to the start of the marathon or giving the student an A before taking the final exam. Only after much researching and struggling, only after realizing the horrors that HG hath wrought, and only after basking in the pure unblemished sight of the original Japanese versions and its many beautiful follow-up series can an honest and true conversion take place. And even then, the initiate must still fully repent and confess--truly and genuinely in his heart--that the Macross universe is superior to the Robotech version.* The partaking of the Yoshinol is the culmination of this journey, the reward for this final enlightened act of repentance. Those first sips of Yoshinol are symbolic of the exuberant joy one feels after stepping out of ignorance and into the warm embrace that is Macross enlightenment. When we come together and partake of the Yoshinol, we are reminded of our community of Macross World and of our own conversions to Macross. When we drink of the Yoshinol, we also do it in remembrance of the Hory Froating Head and the wonderful Macross universe he created. So, in other words, no Yoshinol for the n00b...........yet. * The various denominations of Macross-ism differ on how much Robotech should be renounced. Some hard-liners believe that full disavow-ment and rejection of Robotech must take place. Others allow the initiate to acknowledge or even respect aspects of Robotech. But all denominations are clear that acknowledging the superiority of Macross over Robotech is the core tenant for true repentance to take place.
  3. Uhh, Jenius, do you mean when the Alpha's in battloid but connected to the Beta (which itself is in fighter mode) combo? The above comments make more sense if that's what you were trying to get at.
  4. Looks promising. Might have some potential. Wonder how long it will take before someone replaces all of Wolverine's lines in this trailer with "snik's" and "bub's."
  5. I believe Sci-Fi has the continuation of that scene, along with the Season 4.5 trailers. Bill's got the RAGE dialed up to 11 in that scene.
  6. ^^Probably Eels and Swamp Zartan at this particular point.
  7. Jenius can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the blue on the Aoshima is a hell of a lot brighter hue than the one on the original Toynami Alpha. You might want to check Jenius' website for some good comparison pics. As for linking up, I don't see why the Aoshima's wouldn't hook up with this Beta. They probably just won't color-match exactly. I'd be curious too to see if the original Legioss models (forgot who made 'em) that the Alphas are based on can link up with the Beta too.
  8. I've only got links of early prototype pics for both fighter combos: CM's. Toynami's. (Note the original release date ). My personal preference goes with Toynami's design. Never was a fan of CM's split-level look.
  9. (Emphasis added by me. ) That is SICK!! Doing this whole camo-scheme free handed is one hell of an accomplishment. I bow down to the sheer awesomeness that is the hand-painted Dobber scheme.
  10. ^^Also, some folks despise the design asthetics that went into the CM Legioss, such as the sprawled out knees in fighter mode, the elongated nose, the lack of a moveable neck, and the tailfins that don't collapse when in the fighter combo mode. But ultimately, as protostar8 pointed out, most folks' decision will come down to style preferences and which modes and combinations they give highest priority to.
  11. Could we get Keanu to star as Ein instead? All he'd have to do is show flashes of brilliance while everyone else thinks he's a simple creature. Shouldn't be too much of a stretch for Mr. Reeves!
  12. Wow, what a convoluted mess. So basically, they're trying to justify their time travel/semi-reboot story by saying, "It's the latest in cutting-edge science!!!" Whatevers. The ultimate question is: Does it make for a good, thought-provoking story? If not, then who cares whether or not it's scientifically accurate. Personally, unless a time-travel story can reach the level of "Angel Dark, Demon Bright" (some major sci-fi geeks should know which TV series and episode I'm talking about), it's not gonna leave that much of a lasting impression. Time travel can bring up some good story issues: are we able to exercise free will/free choice in these situations? Or are we destined to be history's pawn? Can we change history? Or will our actions just result history playing out the way it's "supposed" happen? Should we change history? Or would the alternatives be too risky? Some good stories can come out of this plot device. But often, most time-travel stories wind up being very derivative or feeling like a retread. Plus, time travel's been done to death in Star Trek. No question, there's been a bunch of stand-out time-travel episodes in Trek. But there's also been a good chunk of time-travel dreck too.
  13. All I care about is if it color-matches the two MPC Alphas I already got. I just put down my payment for one, so I'll be getting a Beta soon enough (I preferred not to purchase from RT.com/HG directly). Once I futz around with it a bit, sticker it up, panel-line it, and finally, FINALLY change my avatar, you know I'll be posting some pics of the big bad Beta in all its glory! As for your question ruskii, I think I'm gonna stick with the blue bastard. If I'm impressed enough with the Beta, I'll probably buy another blue one (one to display in battloid with the rest of the MPC's and one to leave in fighter combo mode).
  14. No worries, Vermillion21. My venom's aimed squarely at Hasbro, and no one else. I read that Airborne might be pack with one or some of the Wave 12 packs. So hopefully, I can finally nab the Navajo. (Don't worry; I've still got the Ghost HAWK sitting here ready to be shipped on a moment's notice. ) Regarding case assortment theory, I'm kinda baffled at some of Hasbro's figure choices of late. I mean single packing Torch and Ripper? Did they not learn from the pegs and pegs of Buzzers? I can sorta understand why they packed Cobra Flint with all the Wave 11 cases (could be a troop builder), but I'm still baffled by their decision to short Airborne and replace him with Croc Master. Freakin' Croc Master?! EDIT: Just saw the Tiger Rat....Seriously, ANOTHER Wild Bill figure?
  15. I saw the red sigil Cobra Trooper today. But that was about it from Wave 12. Nothing else was on the pegs other than the usual leftover pegwarmers. Remind to smack Hasbro upside its head for not packing Airborne in all the Wave 11 cases.
  16. Love the push-ups pic! Can't wait to get this big bad bastard (I really hope Kevin got enough pre-orders earlier this summer .) In any case, time to get my furry little avatar a stirring...
  17. Damn! No one's mentioned Harakiri yet? It's a little talkative, but it's a damn good movie and story.
  18. The problem with the prequel movies was that they always TALKED about how good Anakin was. But only very rarely did they ever show ACTIONS of him doing good deeds. Honestly, a few tweeks and additional scenes here and there throughout the three prequels would have done a world of good to make Anakin a more sympathetic character and made his fall all the more gut-wrenching. And to add one additional personal pet peeve, why the frak didn't they show Padme's necklace carving just once in AOTC?
  19. Ugh, kinda wishing the head was a little bit taller (like in my avatar) and less flattened/mashed down. But we'll see what happens when I finally get my hands on it. EDIT: After looking at the head in my avatar, the production version looks pretty similar. Don't drink and post, kiddies!
  20. I'm actually more interested in getting Lift Ticket than the vehicle he comes with (some of his parts look very promising for a custom I wanna do). If I somehow miraculously come across a Ghost Hawk (just barely saw a Firebat today for the first time), I'd be willing to part with it (sans Lift Ticket). As for Wave 11, I love the Eels, but I absolutely hate how criminally short their breathing tubes are. You can't really turn the dude's head with the helmet on. Also, I had to paint his feet black; the grey feet just didn't look right on the black fins. Zartan's definitely a cool addition, but I had to use his upper arms and upper legs for a far greater purpose. Pilot Scarlett is alright, but part of me wishes they sculpted her hair in a ponytail like the card art. I'd comment on Airborne, but none of the damn stores near me seem to have him.
  21. Shoot, if they're gonna completely re-do Malak (which I'm guessing they won't), here's what I'd like to see: * Make the bastard taller. The guy's supposed to be this intimidating presence. * Get rid of the wrinkled head. I know it's supposed to make him look more "Sith-y." But seriously, Malak would look much more bad-ass with a smooth cueball head. * Make the jawpiece smaller, or just get rid of the removeable feature altogether. The last one was way, way too bulky-looking. If we can see a neck, then the jawpiece will be the right size. * Soft-goods HALF cape. Look at the video game for reference. That cape of ol' Malak ain't a full one. * Soft-goods back tabbards. Completely missing on the original figure. And soft-goods wouldn't muck up the articulation too much. * Super articulation. On another topic, anyone know whether the Build-A-Droid HK-47 will have reasonable articulation? Or should I just anticipate neck-shoulder-hip articulation only?
  22. Unless one of our members in Asia already has their hands on it, I wouldn't expect a review just yet. As I've said earlier, I haven't even seen a payment request come through for my preorder. Based on their track records, I'd rather trust Kevin on the release date than HG or Toynami. And if Kevin isn't firing off a payment request, I ain't expecting a Beta within the next week or so. Hell, I think a release before year-end is still a bit optimistic. In any case, I think everyone should calm the hell down about asking for a review. What's another month or two, when we've been waiting for this thing for YEARS?
  23. Somebody ring? I've also got a pic of this modified Luke doing the classic ROTJ pose on Jabba's barge. It's too bad my old laptop crashed though; I used to have some other pics of this sucker sporting a big ol' Jedi cloak. .......I should really try to snap some "replacement" pics of my toy collections this weekend.
  24. Not sure if you folks saw this yet: www.youwillknowthetruth.com. Where's Roslin in the most recent clue?
  25. Another sign you've been watching too much Macross? --You use Isamu-style hand gestures to figure out how to pose your fighter toys. --If you have to get into a brown-and-white car, tram, plane, or train, you curl up into a fetal position. --You hear the phrase "chunky-monkey," and you don't automatically think of ice cream.
