  1. When I was skimming through the trade paperback a month or so ago, I saw that too. I think one of his buddies was trying to convince him to use the typical atomic symbol (the one with the atom and something like six electrons spinning around it), and Dr. M essentially said, "Screw that cheesy stereotype! I'm using this!" Definitely loved that little touch in the comic and was kinda bummed they didn't expand on it more in the film.
  2. Cute.....Heh-heh! The only thing I would've done differently was removed the green visor. With the visor off, it gives the -19 that evil, sinister eyes look.
  3. Just to clarify a bit, when I heard Hendrix's "Watchtower" in the theater, it actually gave me a big grin. Must be the BSG freak in me.
  4. Where's the "Watched the movie, intend to read the comic" option? I kinda had a Cliff's Notes understanding/background on the comic, so I went into the movie knowing most of the main points and plots. In a nutshell, I liked it. Sure, I kinda wished they gave more details as to why Dr. M chose the hydrogen symbol instead of the typical atom symbol (as in the comic). And I know folks are annoyed about the comic-within-the-comic not being there. But it seems to be a pretty solid film. At least the creative forces behind the film didn't try to put their own spin/their own message into the film ala V for Vendetta. At the very least, the film makes me wanna read the comic/graphic novel even more. Now whether I'll consider The Watchmen film to be a faithful adaptation to the comic book? I'll let you know once I pick up, read, and finish the comic. P.S.--What the hell is up with "All Along the Watchtower" popping up again in another sci-fi/comic/genre series?
  5. So at Arclight, did anyone scream out, "What don't you F*CKIN' understand?!" or "Let's not take a f*ckin' minute; LET'S GO AGAIN!!" during the T4 trailer?!
  6. Hik' was wondering who the hell stole his GBP leg armor after detailing it up with Minmei on a Spacey kite.
  7. Great pics everyone! (Especially the line-up pics and the in-flight formation pics.) I'm almost tempted to remove my mechas from their displays and do a photoshoot. But alas, I'm just too damn lazy to do all that. All I can do is post some old pics and impart some minor bits of "wisdom" that experience has mercilessly taught me . . . ******************************************** This is your Stealth Valk with flash photography (with some major post-editing to try and reduce the glare of the flash): (The HORROR!! The EMBARASSMENT!!!) This is your Stealth Valk without flash photography, showing off the subtle color variations and details on this awesome bird. (Though, you should still learn not to cut off the nosecone in your pics! ): ******************************************** This is your Valks, factory-fresh and straight outta the box (and getting all romantical and stuff): This is your Valks fully detailed up with Anasazi stickers and 2/3rds of them properly panel-lined :

Much better. Though, I cut off the end of the nosecone.
  10. Doesn't Colonial 1 itself fit into one of those flight pods? Or are you just talking about the launch tubes? Sure as hell would make it easier and more convenient for the President to space any criminal Cylons. Really didn't mind Baltar spilling the beans. I'm sure everyone on the ship already knew that she died when her Viper got crushed on that gas giant. And she's been back in the fleet for some time now, so I don't think most crew members really care too much. Plus, with all the Cylons running around, her being a human or Cylon is pretty much a non-issue at this time. Besides after seeing Earth destroy their hopes and dreams, I don't think there's much that can faze the Galactica crew at this point.
  11. So when you saw the Mother Baseship (Super BaseStar?, the HolyfrakkenshitStar?), anyone else start thinking we're gonna wind up with the Galactica ramming straight into it and seeing Bodolzaa....erm, Cavil eating tons of hot lead from Starbuck's Viper? Sucks that they took out that Tyrol scene. I really hope they add back all the cut footage into these eps with the initial DVD release. I'm thinking the only way Boomer redeems herself is by saving Hera and dying in the process. Just about laughed my ass off when Boomer was getting pissy about Hera crying, "I WANT MY MOMMY!!!!" Doesn't she know? When you travel with kids you have to have a ton of food, some juice boxes, and a handful of DVDs or video games to keep the little buggers entertained.
  12. Thanks for the info. I kinda had a sneaking suspicion. ******************************** I actually like the Beta looking squat. Afterall, it's supposed to be this big, burly, armed-to-the-tooth brawler of a mecha. Long, stretched-out, or slender legs (ala a Valk) just don't seem to mesh well with that image of the Beta. Even without the legs extended out, the Beta's already a big boy. With the legs collapsed, he's still head and shoulders above his shorter Alpha brethren, and he can still stand toe-to-toe with the 1/55 Valks out there.
  13. Continuing your theme: Let's just kiss and say goodbye . . .
  14. Hey jenius, During your brief survey a few months back, did you ever find a Blue Alpha numbered higher than No. 10,000? For all we know, Toynami may still be holding out some leftover stock (Numbers 10,000 through 15,000) of Blue Alphas. Of course, it would be anyone's guess how well these Blue Alphas, their crumbly hands, and their plethora of other issues have held up over the past four years. ********************************************* Regarding those pics in the link, someone should tell Toynami (or whoever posed their Betas) to read the frakken instruction manual!! You're supposed to collapse down the grey leg parts (around the knees) in battloid mode.
  15. I saw a few trailers for this on TV, but the trailers didn't exactly make the movie seem all that appealing. I mean how hard would it be to market this film? * Hot looking actress. * Main character who regularly dresses in a sexy, semi-traditional Chinese dress. * Female lead who regularly beats the crap out of her (mostly male) opponents. It should have been a shoo-in to market this properly. But apparently, the movie must really, REALLY suck major, massive donkeyballs if they can't even slap together a good trailer from the available footage.
  16. Well, her "Auntie" Boomer did give her a nice juice-and-sedative combo, AND she took Hera on little field trip to boot!
  17. I'm guessing it's the latter. I doubt Kara would've just opened up to some random stranger about coming back from the dead. And the fact that the guy just up and disappeared without any of the other Earth Cylons noticing him (especially when there were three of them right next to Kara and the piano) makes me think Kara's got her own little head character now. P.S.--Was it just me, or was the toothpaste called Felgercarb? (sp?) That toothpaste is SH*T!!!
  18. Thanks Rog'! I would have been kicking myself trying to find that theme. It's too bad they couldn't find a way to incorporate that piece into last night's episode. It's a very good piece that evokes a lot of different emotions that would have fit very well with last night's episode: haunting, searching, and foreboding. Though, I have no idea how they would have been able to morph that piece into the big "All Along the Watchtower" reveal at the end.
  19. I doubt it will suck. They seem to be striking the right tone for the movie. From my limited, Cliff's Note's understanding of the graphic novel, most of the stuff in the trailers hasn't seemed "off" or inconsistent with the spirit of the original story. Hopefully, the rest of the movie will be solid, and we don't get a situation like Spiderman 3 (where the trailers were great but the actual movie just didn't deliver).
  20. * Tyrol, Tyrol, Tyrol........He got played like a fool. * Boomer is one frakked up little, cold-blooded BITCH of a toaster. For someone who supposedly loves the Chief, she sure didn't mind giving Helo an enthusiastic frak (all in front of Athena no less too). * Also, was I the only one that paused and got a little thrown out of the story when Grace Park let out that "little" moan of hers during this scene?.....Almost sounded a little too geniune. (Not that I'm complaining, mind you! ) * Wonder how much this piano arrangement of "All Along the Watchtower" matches up with that little piano bit we heard when Starbuck and Helo were chillin' in Starbuck's apartment in Caprica back in Season 2? I'm probably gonna have to check it out on YouTube or something.

    Yamato $2000 DYRL MACROSS

Hey if you wanna roll over and pay US$500 or $600 without a fight, be my guest. As I stated in my last post, chances are the price will be higher than $250. But what's the point in letting the seller know how much you're willing to spend? Why go in mentioning your maximum amount or a high figure? That's a stupid business practice to follow! Would you do that going into a car dealership? Would you do that when trying to buy a house? Do you go into Texas Hold 'Em game, announcing to everyone at the table, "Hey I'm going All-In with suited 10-J." Remember, we're only dealing with 2-feets worth of plastic here. The BMF is probably the same size as the Yammie SDF-1 will be, and yet the BMF was only priced max at around $150 to $160. The GI Joe Phantom X-19 jet is well over 2 feet long, has moveable parts and stuff, and, even factoring in inflation, it would still be priced well less than $100. Yes, I realize there's the whole transformation thing going on that would up the price of the SDF-1. But again, I cite the above examples to point out that the price can be estimated downward. But if you guys just love paying higher prices for things, be my guest.

    Yamato $2000 DYRL MACROSS

I still think folks are blowing the size and price of this Yammie SDF-1 way outta proportion. If our estimates in this thread are correct, then this thing will be a little over two feet long. Factoring in that about a third of that length will be taken up by the main cannons, I'm still guessing that the Macross from "head" to toe (NOT tip of main cannons to toes) will only be a few inches taller than your standard 1/48 Battroid Valk. This is not gonna be a behemoth that just overpowers and towers over everything in your display case. Granted it's gonna be big. But it's not gonna be USS Flagg big or anything. More like something along the lines of the BMF (Big Mutha F.....erm, Big Millenium Falcon), perhaps? ******************************** As for price, I think most folks are getting a little too overzealous, estimating the price of this at $400 to $500, or even $1000(!!!) If I was negotiating with Yamato over this Macross, I'd open up negotiations with a price of $250. Although it's still 8 to 9 inches smaller than the Yammie Macross, the Toynami Alpha/Beta combo sells for around $230 retail ($150 for the Beta, $80 for the Alpha). So given the SDF-1's larger size, I think $250 would be a low, yet somewhat reasonable, price point to start negotiations at. Granted there's quality comparsion issues in my example and other factors to consider, but this would be my STARTING price. Heck, if I wanted to be uber-stubborn, I could say that the BMF is roughly the same size as this SDF-1 and only sells for around $100 to $150. As a community of BUYERS in these situations, it still amazes me how quickly folks willingly and voluntarily estimate up the price of these things. It's almost like walking into a used car lot and flat out telling the dealer that you're willing to pay $3,000 more than the sticker price! So I say, start off offering $250, see what Yamato comes back with, compromise, negotiate, and then try to meet somewhere in the middle in terms of price. Chances are the price will probably be above $250. But we'd get a much better price using this method than the stupid speculative method going on in this thread.
