  1. 007-373-5963 For me, my personal fave's would be SMB3 (my all-time favorite Mario game); Tecmo Bowl (and those stupid unstoppable plays!) ; Adventure of Link (found the challenge rewarding); Mike Tyson's Punch-Out (Tyson? Super Macho-Man? No prob'! Mr. Sandman? He'd regularly kick my ass with his special moves!); FFVI (the best in the series); and Chrono Trigger (still haven't gotten all the endings yet). It isn't really reflected in my above list, but the other big difference between the old school games (primarily the 8-bit ones) and the newer ones is that the old games RARELY had a battery back-up. It became a bit of a twisted challenge/merit badge to complete a game in one sitting. I think that little extra challenge is what made playing the games so hard and fun. You'd get to that last level with maybe one or two lives left, thinking to yourself, "Damn it. I'm about to finish this game. I CANNOT make a mistake!!," and the pressure would be on!!
  2. I liked pretty much everything about the finale, except the ending. So, once again, Jack is on the run, having to stay underground and hide his identity. . . only this time, it ain't the Chinese. It's the RUSSIANS!! I think I would have liked the finale a bit more if they broke tradition and added a little epilogue at the end. Pick up the action two or three months later. . . in say, Moscow. One last "interrogation" of Mr. Suvarov and a final satisfying Keifer Kill for the road. (Screw waiting for a movie for an appropriate ending!). Though I gotta admit, it was nice to see President Taylor regain her spine, especially after her straight-up, frakked-up threat to President Counselor Troi-look-alike. Lastly, anyone else catch Mr. Soul-Glo's cameo?
  3. Silly Chuck. Fooled twice by the same ol' bug on the collar trick. Guess Jack was channeling his inner Commando Snake Eyes with that get-up too.

    Limited Exclusives

As Jenius said, it would be nice if these companies could market their exclusives to us directly. Not only would it benefit us non-Japan collectors, but I'm sure Yamato wouldn't mind the extra profits they could make directly on us international sales. Yeah, we'd more than likely be annoyed at the price ("more than likely"? . . . ). But at least, we'd have a more realistic option to get the exclusive; we'd have a fighting chance to "get in on the action." That's what's so frustrating about these exclusives: we non-Japan collectors (primarily in the US) already have to deal with the grey market, just to get the regular normal Macross stuff. Trying to get these exclusives just ups that degree of difficulty even further.
  5. Glad to see the more familiar skin back! Is there any way we can make the fonts just a smidge or two bigger? The small fonts are a little hard on this old guy's eyes. But thanks again for all the hard work on this upgrade!
  6. Just when I think Yamato's gonna pull me back in, they do something that makes me say, "Nah, I'm cool for now." A nicely articulated (yet reasonably priced) 1/60 Regult and pilot toy is one of the few things still on my personal want list.
  7. But what about in Attacker mode? Is the SDF-1 gonna "look" taller than a 1/48 battroid? Nothing personal or anything, but it's a personal pet peeve of mine when people forget to account for the length of the main guns. About a third of that 40cm length is the main guns, so I'm a little worried that the Macross will come up a bit short when standing next to a 1/48 battroid. As for this latest SDF-1 news? I'm still holding out for a TV-style version.
  8. After seeing the preview from last week, I was kinda expecting Jack to blow-torch off half of Russian sniper-dude's face. I feel somewhat unsatisfied.
  9. I don't know. Any time I see a movie ad or trailer with the phrase "in 3D," it makes me wonder if they are trying to use the 3D effects to distract me from the mediocre plot. Maybe I'm just too contrarian, but I find the 3D tag to be something that makes me less enthusiastic to see a movie.
  10. C'mon now. You know that second shot was to make it crystal clear what Jack's intentions were. No flesh wound, no accidental discharge, no momentary lapse in judgement, no chance of survival. Just straight up, cold-blooded Jack. He had the data, the individual was unarmed, and it's unlikely that that person had a hand in Renee's hit. Look like Jack's opening up the industrial-strength can of whoop-ass.
  11. It's been discussed, and the powers that be know about the issue: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=32912. At the very least, it's good that we didn't lose any pictures with the latest server reimaging.
  12. Never recalled his character even being shown before. But I'm not too familiar with some of the earlier seasons. Yeah, that razor-blade necklace looked familiar, but I wasn't completely sure. Guess Bud worked in weapons storage and high-tech security/surveillance before winding up as a strip-joint bouncer?
  13. If we're talking about fighter mode, gerwalk mode, or, especially, half-gerwalk mode, no question I can do a better pose. It's just that this little bugger's battroid mode is pretty limited. I guess I could do the: * "Yo Joe!"/"Go-Bot in the blister card" one arm raised pose, or * The "Point the gunpod with one arm while standing completely at attention like a good, non-moving target should" pose, or * The "Oh NOOES!! I just tore my ACL, MCL, and didn't realize my knee could bend that way" pose. With the limited articulation available, I just settled for a "Just standing there, looking like a bad-ass" pose and called it a day.
  14. "Look pal, this is the best pose you're gonna get outta my battroid mode." And it's probably the best pic quality I'm gonna get outta my cell phone camera.
  15. Yeah, when I first saw the episode, I thought all the bleeping and black censor bars were just a meta-joke. Sucks that Comedy Central chickened out like that. I mean it's not like Matt and Trey were making Muhammad sniff line after line of coke or look at internet porn or anything.
  16. Love this show!! I still remember hearing that joke they said about FEMA way back in Season 1. I knew right then and there that this show's humor, satire, and wit would be right up my alley.
  17. I see that Charles Logan has taken a few pages out of Emperor Palpatine's How to Make Friends and Influence Politicians.
  18. The last time they cliffhangered "Who is Eric Cartman's father?" we got some Terrence and Phillip April Fool's joke episode. Not something I would personally look forward to. Though, I wouldn't put it past Matt and Trey to do something like that again.
  19. Looks like they forgot to throw in the following celebrities too: * R. Kelly * M. Night Shalawaladingdong * The 198X Denver Broncos * Kathy Lee Gifford and most worrisome of all, Terrence and Phillip . Fudge-packer was pretty funny. Though hearing "Bah-boo-rah, BAH-BOO-RAH!" again after all these years was also rather amusing.
  20. Zelda II: The Adventure of Link. I know most folks crap on this game because it didn't have the traditional overhead format. But I personally love it a whole lot more than A Link to the Past. Wait a minute, the bad guys use shields and take more than one or two hits to kill off?! I like that it was different and a little more difficult. And that made it much more rewarding when I completed the game. Force Unleashed (Wii Version). The graphics are embarrassingly subpar. The story and gameplay are average at best. But at a $20 price-point, it's a fun little stress reliever. I mean for that price who wouldn't want to run around, flailing a lightsaber, and Force-pushing the snot out of every Stormtrooper they see?
  21. No love for the Facebook/YahtzeeTron ep. last week?
  22. My thoughts: * Three out of four women agree: copulating amounts of Jack Bauer can be fatal to your health. (And the proverbial "one that got away" still wound up getting tortured and brainwashed by the Chinese.) * "Mrs. Hassan? We'd like you to pull a Corazon Aquino now." * Looks like we finally get Jack vs. the Russian government. * Damn. Two straight weeks with the silent clock at the end. Has this ever happened before in the series?
  23. I don't think there'd be enough room to make a connecting boom long enough to be permanently attached. I guess they could make the boom telescope (kinda like a toy lightsaber), but I shudder to think whether that boom would be strong enough to hold up an Alpha. Also, a telescoping boom like that wouldn't look as clean as what we currently have.
  24. Masaki Kobayashi's Harakiri (aka Seppuku). There's not exactly wall-to-wall samurai action in it, but the story more than makes up for that. Big time.
  25. Since we've started a new thread. . . Anyone feel like holding the candle, and using this as their avatar (until the day they finally release this bad girl)?
