  1. Yeah. . . someone's ready to have a mock dogfight with the Skystriker.
  2. ^^Pretty cool looking fig'. But no armor or chest covering?
  3. The question too is whether the intake covers were the baby-blue ones or the more faded greyish-blue ones (half-serious, half-joking BTW). Oh well, I'm somewhat thankful my gambit of buying two of these blue Alphas early on eventually paid off. It allowed me to keep one Alpha in battloid mode and the other in fighter mode. Looking at these suckers up on my shelf, it still amazes me that we finally got a good sized, decent-looking, somewhat reasonably priced Alpha-Beta combo.
  4. Granted, I just got a DSLR myself. But even with a regular old point-and-shoot, you can still get some good pics. All you need are: A tripod or something stable to place the camera on (absolutely essential when taking no-flash pictures with a point-and-shoot); Some good to adequate lighting; and The macro feature on your camera (the little rose/flower icon/dial selection). Until very recently, practically all the pics I've posted on the board have been from a cheap old Fuji FinePix digital camera. They may not the greatest pics, but they definitely get the point across :

    Panel lines

These and the Copic or Micron pens is the method I use to panel-line my various Valks. I usually prefer a more subtle panel-line, so I typically use a grey pen to fill in the lines, especially on the white portions of the Valks. However, the black pens are better to use (and more noticeable) on the colored portions. But yeah, if you make a mistake with these pens, a little sweat/spit and some tissue paper can easily wipe the stuff off. However, as I've said in other posts, just make sure you ink in the lines at an angle. Don't use these pens completely perpendicular to the surface you're lining, or you risk damaging or completely losing the pen tips. In any case, here's an in-process pic of my latest project: The right side's been panel-lined, but the left side isn't yet. It's subtle, but inking in the panels definitely makes them "pop out" more.
  6. Now I remember why I stopped making GI Joe customs (other than lack of inspiration and motivation): Getting the appropriate custom fodder/parts/figures gets expensive after awhile. With the Cover Girl figure I did awhile back, I started with a Lady Jaye torso and then had to buy four additional figures just to get the parts I needed to make the figure. Even with some of the extra fodder I have lying around, Ghostrider's looking to be just as expensive. Even tried to make a couple of trades for the parts I needed, but both deals fell through. Oh well, I already purchased the last few parts I'll need. So hopefully, everything comes together nicely.
  7. One of my earlier and personal favorite memories of Edge was back around the Sunday Night Heat days. Action spilled outside the ring, Jeff Hardy was running along the top of the outside barriers, jumped to try to hit some move, and then Edge just speared the ever-loving crap out the guy. Too bad I can't find video of it on YouTube. Sucks that Edge is retiring, but glad he's getting out before he becomes another statistic. Hope he makes the most out of his post-wrestling life.
  8. I have the old-fashioned one that goes in and out of the plane body. Definitely doesn't look like a tail hook at all.
  9. See, I told you. All this talk about the Sky Striker really did make me bust this old bird out of mothballs : A couple of parts had fallen off over the years (nephews getting their hands on it and neglect while she stayed at my parents' house). But once I found all the parts lying around, it was pretty easy to put back together again. Practically 100% complete, except the front landing gear is slightly damaged (functional, but have to go easy with it). Got the itch to make an updated/custom 25th/Modern Era Ghostrider to go with the X-19 too! Looking forward to hanging this and the Sky Striker up on the nursery ceiling.
  10. Not too shabby of an episode (or two). So, does Chewie owe Ahsoka and those Padawans a life-debt now?
  11. I'm starting to notice more the disproportions between the cockpit and the rest of the plane. And I'm not a big fan of having the landing gears drop when the wings get swept forward. But I'm still looking forward to getting this Sky Striker!! I'm gonna have to decorate the nursery for my upcoming son anyways! Might even pull my old Phantom X-19 out of mothballs and hang it up in the room too. So what if the kid's still in the womb? I gotta start "influencing" him early! Regarding the rest of the figures, I'm glad they're getting back to more of a collector's focus and also releasing figures under the Renegades banner. I just hope they don't make the same mistake and halt all these lines once the inevitable GI Joe 2 movie comes out.
  12. <channeling my inner Yoda>: No, there is another. . . . . . The Dark Knight Rises. Regarding the new WW costume, it looks slightly better. But wouldn't the Star-Spangled panties be easier to hide under a business suit than those tight blue pants/leggings?
  13. Maybe I've watched too much wrestling over the years, but I've got a sneaking suspicion that Christian's turning heel and costing Edge the title.
  14. Thanks for heads up, UN Spacy! Is it just me, or did Rock have that fang-looking grin usually reserved for Revy or Balalaika at the end of the ep? Interesting back-stories revealed here too. Can't heap enough praise on these OVAs! Definitely on par with the stuff from the first two seasons!
  15. But today is Monday, Monday, Monday (or "Tuesday, Tuesday, Tuesday" if you're on the other side of the globe). MAKE IT STOP!!
  16. Notice the similarity? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nrfQZ_anNYM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bxdakLrnSvg Granted I only recently heard the original Led song a few weeks back. But considering that I've been enjoying Cold Rock the Mic for YEARS (since GT2 first came out), I'm surprised I didn't make the connection until now.
  17. Glad to be hearing from a lot of you folks over in Japan. Hoping and praying that you all stay safe and away from any dangers. Before we start pointing any fingers about how these disasters have been handled, let's not forget that the difference between a 6.0 and a 8.9 or 9.0 earthquake is EXPONENTIAL, meaning the difference is sorta like the difference between 1,000,000 (106) and 1,000,000,000 (109). I doubt most earthquake-proof building designs are made to withstand an 8.9 earthquake. Can any civil or structural engineers chime in on the subject?
  18. Alright, looks like I'm gonna have to retract my earlier rant about the upcoming Bespin Han figure. Rebelscum released a new pic of the figure, and the paint apps on the headsculpt look much, much better: Looks a lot more promising now.
  19. Nice follow-up episode. It was pretty fun to see the clever ways the heroes escaped the various traps (even if half of them involved blowing sh#t up real good). And it kinda sucked to see But at least, we're seeing that this isn't some easy task with minimal casualties.
  20. My customs: Considering the amount of time, thought, and effort that went into both of these, I don't think I could ever bring my self to sell either of them.
  21. Depending on where you live, I'm either right on time or day earlier. . . In any case, we lost one of the best hip-hop producers exactly one year ago. RIP Nujabes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ezY1h1II7XM Best damn hook-maker this side of Dr. Dre.
  22. So, it's not a prequel to Taken? Kinda wish it was.
  23. Has anyone tried washing the clear tips in warm soapy water like Los suggested a page or two back? Curious if that solved the issue or not.
  24. So, will every episode end with Blazing Sword pwning all? One of my buddies used to joke around that if we ever got enough money to greenlight a Hollywood movie, we'd make a live-action version of Voltron. But we'd make it ultra-low-budget: use a guy in a boxy Voltron suit for the fight scenes (ala Power Rangers), constantly reuse stock footage for the fights and battles, and spend the absolute bare minimum for any CGI or special effects (think models tied with string, obvious scene-cuts for explosions, etc.). I don't know why, but this idea gave us too much entertainment and amusement.
