  1. I wouldn't mind a redesigned Alpha at all. Honestly though, the chest never really bothered me with the Betas. But considering the huge gap between the cockpit and the rest of the Beta in bomber mode, I wonder how hard it would have been to engineering/design an anime-accurate chest that also doubles as a gap filler in bomber mode? It'd make the nosecone-to-chest transformation a lot more complicated (From bomber, slide forward the new gap filler onto the nosecone, twist nosecone 180 degrees, flip down nosecone, and viola, anime-accurate chest that hides the nosecone and its yellow windows). Again, it'd be a complex design, and could we trust Toynami to deliver on such a tricky design feature? . . . . On second thought, maybe an anime accurate chest cover would have been the best way to go! Regarding the integrated connection bar, giving the limited amount of space, I doubt they could make something that looks as clean and as seamless as the separate connection piece. A telescoping connection bar would look kinda whack. Lastly, with the shoulder missiles, it would have been a tight fit (with the way the shoulders go up and down during the transformation), but there should have been enough room for them to add that feature. Kinda sucks they never had that in the initial design.
  2. Actually got to meet him since my high school English teacher was a good friend of his. Really enjoyed his short story "Zero Hour." Wish it had been adapted for the old Twilight Zone series. Would have fit in perfectly with that series. Sad to see him go, but glad we have all these works of his to still read and listen to.
  3. ^^Not necessarily: http://www.rebelscum...tion_145942.asp It's just that most new figures are hard as hell to find.
  4. I pulled off a custom YF-21 many moons ago. I have a link to the completed bird in the first hyperlink in my signature (the first "B" below). I wouldn't be surprised if the YF-21 and the VF-22 are similar in their overall design. But the tips and tricks I learned while building that custom are linked here: http://www.macrosswo...28. I didn't clear coat after painting the parts, and I'm sure I did a bunch of other amateur mistakes. Hope this helps or gives you an idea of what you're facing. A couple of tips: 1) You'll definitely want to sand the hell off a bunch of the joints and connecting areas. There's bound to be a bunch of areas where the paint can potentially chip, especially since it's such a tight transformation between fighter and battroid. 2) Keep track of which screw goes where. You'll see in the link above that I screwed up a few times because I forgot which screw went into which hole.
  5. Episode 6 reaction: Definitely a good action episode. Episode 7 reaction: What the hell just happened?! Definitely getting an "Acperience" feel from this ep (Look at an episode title list and synopsis for the original E7 series; you'll see what I mean.) Will probably want to watch it again to see if there's anything I didn't catch the first time around.
  6. Shiet. . . . I thought he was talking about Batman & Robin.
  7. Can I blame Battleship instead? (half-serious, half-joking) That crap film probably screwed over Hasbro so badly, that it f'ed up their plans for G.I. Joe 2. DAMN YOU, RHIANNA!! Regarding the toys, does anyone ever find any NEW Hasbro toys out at brick-and-motar stores anymore?! All I ever see are Artic Destros for GI Joe, Bumblebees for Transformers, and pegwarming Phantom Menace figures for Star Wars. It's pathetic.
  8. Liking the more raw, harder driving, live version:
  9. I wouldn't be surprised if the reason for the delay was that Hasbro couldn't get the toyline out in time to support the movie. F*ckin' asinine, if the reason for the delay is to make it 3D. Honestly, as a fan of the old comic books series, this was the movie I was secretly looking forward to the most this summer. Seriously, someone should do a documentary or book entitled: Hasbro: How to Screw Yourselves from Making More Money and Alienate Your Fanbases in the Process.
  10. Yup, I can practically hear the Filipino accent in the Jolibee manager's words. (And this is coming from a guy with Filipino parents, okay. )
  11. Definitely some insidious and/or uneasy undercurrents going on in Episode 5.
  12. No, story is what makes an okay action flick rise to greater heights. And more importantly, as I've said a billion times in other posts, having the characters drive the story makes a movie or TV series a hell of a lot better than having the plot drive the characters.
  13. I'm just glad it DIDN'T end with them fighting the Predator or something stupid like that.
  14. Mog's crazy-ass theories, after re-watching Episode 47 of the original series:
  15. ^^Actually, raws for Ep. 5 are out now. I thought the quotes you mentioned above were more a wink-and-a-nod about all the typical cliches we see in these type of anime shows. I'm still thinking it's a sequel, but I've got to re-watch the E7:AO prequel and a few eps from the last series to confirm a few things.
  16. Considering how plucky and spunky Lois is generally portrayed as, Bosworth's portrayal was rather flat and bland. She was just sorta there and didn't bring much to the table. One of the reasons I liked the newer take on Lex (especially during Justice League Unlimited) is that, despite being hopelessly outmatched physically against Supes, he could still out-smart, out-maneuver, and out-fox the Man of Steel. Much like a smart businessman, he knows the rules well enough to break 'em, and he uses those same rules against Superman to keep him at bay. And he doesn't wuss out by hiding behind a wig. The new Lex don't give a f&*k about being bald!
  17. ^^Why does Black Widow's smell like fish?
  18. I had no beef with how Brandon Routh portrayed Supes. it wasn't the greatest, but it wasn't the worst portrayal either. Kevin Spacey's Lex Luthor, however, seemed heavily out-dated. After seeing the DC animated universe's take on Lex (still a genius, but now a calm, controlled, calculating businessman), I got bored with the movies' one-dimensional version of Lex. And let's not talk about the Kate Bosworth's Lois Lane. . . . . .yeesh! But yeah, let's see what happens with Bats. The Nolans have a pretty good track record. So hopefully, they can deliver again.
  19. ^^Yeah, I wish Bale would have consulted Kevin Conroy about how he does his particular Batman voice. It's probably the best around. Regarding the last Superman film, I don't think you can really call it a reboot. If anything, it was way too beholden to the original 80's Superman films.
  20. Understand, I'm a HUGE fan of Nolan's Batman series. Other than short-changing his detective aspects (which practically every version save the DC Animated Universe has done ), it's been simply the best version of Batman to ever hit the silver screen. It fills your action quota AND occasionally taps into those higher thinking/high concept areas of your brain. HOWEVER, I've never really expected that from any of the recent Marvel Avenger-related movies. After all the crap comic movies we had to endure in the 80's and 90's, the main things I wanted from your "typical" comic-book movie are the following: Stay respectful towards the source material; Make sure your tone matches the comic's tone (Batman = dark; X-Men = experiences and reactions of those labeled "others"/"outsiders" by society; Any potential Deadpool film = Sarcastic, quippy, and constantly breaking the fourth wall); Don't constantly pander to the lowest common denominator; and Either have a good story or be entertaining as hell (if you have both, even better). The Avengers hit all those keys with me. I wasn't looking for Inception, the first (and best) Matrix movie, or The Dark Knight. I just wanted an entertaining film that stayed true to who those comic book heroes are. Much like the first Sam Raimi Spider-Man and Batman Begins, The Avengers did just that. The jokes/one-liners were generally the type that would tickle the fan-boys' fancy (and not induce massive eye-rolling). And the film had me entertained and giddy pretty much the whole time. With Avengers, I never went in expecting a bunch of brooding, massively flawed, ultra-conflicted heroes. These particular heroes are generally portrayed as larger than life. Hell, each of them can take on a small army all by their lonesome selves. Want to show off their tragic flaws more for the sequel? I'm fine with that. (I just hope the sequel doesn't go back to square one with these heroes fighting one another again.) As I said earlier, I wasn't looking for a high-concept, thinking-man's movie. I just wanted an entertaining, but just smart enough, summer flick. Ain't nothing wrong with that.
  21. No, this is the. . . . umm. . . . "best":
  22. Just got back from watching it. Wifey was awesome enough to watch the toddler and baby, while I spent 2 hours and 43 minutes enjoying a movie (first movie I've watched in an actual theater since District 9 ). That was a fun, FUN romp! Hulk was a pleasant surprise for me. His response to Loki's "speech" was absolutely pitch perfect. Also, I'm not certain about all my Marvel history/lore, but Yeah, make sure you stay until the VERY END of the credits
  23. Damn, BV. We need to get you the updated Bespin Han.
  24. My current set-up: Never thought I'd get all those Phantom Menace figures. But the Palpatine figure was just too well-made, and I kept hearing a lot of good things about the Maul figure. Unless they finally give us some KOTOR Sith Troopers (or I get a bigger place), I'm probably done with my collection.
