  1. Surprised no one commented on this week's episode yet. Had to watch it twice just to make sure I caught all the numerous name-dropping and references. A lot of good stuff going on in this episode: * The flashbacks that reveal a ton of backstory, * Wild (almost completely random) spy-type stuff, * Interrogations galore, * A game of "Guess which Ward is the liar", * A little bit of dissention and questionable motivations, * Fitz back out in the field, and * It's [definitely] all connected. A few other observations/comments: * Really digging Kyle Maclachlan's portrayal of The Doctor. * Loved everything about the Oahu side missions. Too much amusing stuff just to get a tie formerly covered in poi. * And yeah,
  2. Royal-T was freakin' awesome back in the day. Among those figures not mentioned yet, I have to bring up: Geeper-Creeper, Slicks, Heat Seeker (for his innovative transformation), Flip Top, Vanguard, and Blaster.
  3. ^^Early in the episode, when Mockingbird (Bobbi) is briefing Coulson on the attack at the UN, she mentions that the Hydra knife dude almost killed Barton awhile back. Nothing major, but just a little name-dropping reference for the comic geeks amongst us.
  4. I need to see more circles and lines in that logo before I can totally agree.
  5. At first, I was getting a Fallen (Denzel Washington movie)-vibe from this week's episode. And one question: was there a point to the "Catgirl stealing from sleeping Bruce" scene?
  6. Yeah, the Hydra vs. SHIELD one-upmanship that's been going on all season has been fun to see. Also, Hunter is such a fun little prick to root for. His "assessment" scene in the Quinjet killed me. Mockingbird tossed in a Barton shout-out. Heh-heh. Going back to Keith's comment re. Clairvoyant = Zola, I forgot who originally posted that theory in the Winter Soldier thread. But it was such a ridiculously awesome idea. Gotta give massive kudos to the guy who came up with it. Would have been fun to see Zola the Clairvoyant play out in Agents of SHIELD. But Garrett's work in that role (especially his shrug-it-off/ho-hum attitude about the big reveal) did soften that particular blow. Lastly, DAMMIT, we NEED to find out who brought the cat pic coffee mug into the Playground!!
  7. So, who is the other girl in the beginning scene? I spot Widow and Maria Hill. Who's the third girl on the right? Jane Foster (Natalie Portman's character)? And any speculation on who Andy Serkis' character is supposed to be? I was hoping it was pre-blue-furred Beast (He was an Avenger after all), but from what I'm reading, that's probably not the case.
  8. Well, I've heard stories of certain Valks (I'm looking at you VF-17!) drawing blood, as their owners tried to transform them. Sufferring a loss of blood for your Valk: would that qualify for this thread? (Can't say I've personally gone through this particular experience.)
  9. I'll admit it: the Bruce/Alfred scenes this week actually worked. The whole "cleaning the weeds out of his family's business" and the extended look at Bruce developing his detectiving skills were good. Plus, it's good that Gordon didn't just rush to Wayne Manor once he found out about WellZyn and its connection to Wayne Enterprises.
  10. The episode definitely went back and forth between a deathly serious tone and a gallows humor/strangely bemusing tone. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed the episode. And the inner comic book nerd in me marked out when: Kanedas Bike, I understand your frustration with the lack of a resolution to the whole But considering everything else that went on in tonight's episode, I'm kinda glad if they hold it off until next week. With all the big changes that went down, I'm fine if they slow burn this particular storyline with a number of character/quiet-moment scenes throughout the next few episodes. Lastly,
  11. After watching all of these recent episodes, I have two observations/suggestions for the producers of this show: 1) Drop the whole Bruce Wayne/Alfred story arcs NOW. These are easily the most annoying aspects of the show. I get that Bruce is beginning to develop those traits that will make him into Batman down the road. But seriously, they need to quit hammering this aspect in every single freakin' episode! Do we really need to see Gordon visiting Wayne Manor during each crime he's investigating or get a "meanwhile at Wayne Manor" token scene? Plus, shoving Bruce and Alfred down our throats each episode just reminds us of Smallville and the unending cock-tease that we'll never see Batman until the very end. At the very least, minimize these scenes to a rate of one bit scene every 5 to 6 episodes? 2) Keep focusing on the organized crime aspects. All the backstabbing, plotting, and larger than life characters in these story arcs are easily the most enjoyable parts of the series so far. Admittedly, I think they're moving too fast with the Penguin storyline. Him moving himself up to a "restaurant manager," was NOT a smart move, especially since his rep as a cop informant is eventually gonna come out. Regarless of their enemies, I have a feeling most of the crime bosses won't look too kindly to that reputation. The show has some potential, but they really need to tone down all the Bruce-centric stuff. We've seen the Batman origin done far too many times already and done much better than the one presented in this version.
  12. I liked the callback to from The Winter Soldier. Also, I really hope there's a deleted/extended scene where Coulson Although there were obvious extenuating circumstances, that was a noticeable slip by Coulson. I hope they come back to that dangling thread later on this season. Despite the damage he suffered, why do I have the feeling that Fitz's brain was right on the money on his assessment of both situations he analyzed this week? Lastly in regards to next week, it looks like we get to see a Lady Jaye (who almost became an Amazonian Princess) become a Mockingbird.
  13. ^^Heh-heh. . . . . "Bay" Star : (Auto-correct can be such an annoyance)
  14. The Kill Map doesn't include Next of Kin? (where Liam Neeson plays the revenge-seeking, Kentucky hillbilly, older brother of Patrick Swayze) Yes, Liam Neeson portrayed a Kentucky hillbilly. Yes, his supporting character is supposed to be Swayze's older brother. Yes, his character goes to Chicago to seek retribution after the murder of his and Swayze's younger brother. Yes, I'm ashamed that I know this useless bit of trivia.
  15. Is the director's last name really MEGATON!! Almost thought it said "MEGATRON" there for a second.
  16. Yup, was another good ep this week. Really, liked the minor bits of comedy thrown in too like: They had a nice mix of forward movement on the immediate story, the longer arc developments, and the character moments. And next week's teaser is
  17. I didn't find the pilot that bad. Of course, it helped that I was watching the sucker through the DVR. My biggest concern is with the overall viability of the series. If Gordon cleans up Gotham too well, why the hell would Batman ever come about. But put too many set-backs in Gordon's way, and the show gets pretty depressing. The best things going for the series right now are the organized crime side of things and possibly Detective Bullock. So, we'll see what happens. Lastly, as a parent of toddlers/preschoolers who is forced to watch a bunch of kids shows, it's kind of a trip to see one of the guys from the Fresh Beat Band in this show. If the rumors are true and he turns out to be , I'll never be able to watch the Fresh Beat Band without getting my brain twisted into a ton of knots.
  18. * That was definitely a nut-punch when they revealed * At first, I thought Coulson * And when will Ward tell Skye that he ate someone's liver with some fava beans and a nice chianti?
  19. Not sure if this has been posted yet. But I finally found my personal favorite rendition of this song: The semi-acoustic versions out there are so much better than the album version.
  20. 1/3000 scale . . . . TV-Style SDF-1 MACROSS (with the Prometheus and Daedalus attached).
  21. So, when are we gonna see a available online and at the nearest toystores?!! Sucks that Hasbro/Disney didn't anticipate making something like this.
