  1. The ending "fight" scenes may be a little intense for the kiddo. But the last scene after the credits is definitely for the grown-ups (more so than for the kids).
  2. Just got back from watching the film with the family. Was really worried that they showed all the good jokes in the trailers, but that's definitely not the case. Lots of meta-jokes for the grown ups in the audience, . . . . and you'll never look at Zangief the same way ever again. Lastly, am I the only dad that got kicked in the feels and wanted to say to their daughter: P.S.--Stay to the very end for Frozen 2!!!!!!
  3. Taking another look at the above pic (assuming it's an accurate portrayal of the eventual toy), I'm guessing there's gonna be a bunch of new parts to mold. About the only things that they can possibly carry over from the Mospeada types are the following: Crotch armor; Hip guards; Wheels and related assemblies; Windshield/upper back armor; Thigh armors; Lower arms and hands; and Upper arm guards. Practically everything else will be new or modified parts. If they decide to make Houquet more petite than the boys, then at the very least, those last three parts above have to be modded too. In other words, I'd be very surprised if we see a Bartley prototype before the end of the year. For me personally, I do hope they mod the Houquet figure to have a more feminine V shape going from the hips to the feet.
  4. Thoughts after watching Season 2? It's not as action packed as the shortened first season. Although it develops the newly introduced characters alright, there's just a ton of backstory to get through in the front end of the season. Also, the banter between the main three protagonists can be a bit much at times (if this were an anime series proper, I feel like they would have gone full-bore and chibi-fied the characters during these scenes). And although I understand the ending, some could view it as being a little bit emo. But when those action scenes hit, this series absolutely shines! Loved the team work that was on display during these moments. And they did a good job of fleshing out the characters of Dracula and Isaac quite well, making you ALMOST sympathize with them. Although it has some flaws and meh parts, I'd still give Season 2 a recommendation.
  5. Season 2 comes out this Friday:
  6. It's too bad they can't go back and re-do Snake Eye's origin to be more like his comic book origin. Some elements of it can be over-the-top, but I can see it translating really well cinematically.
  7. Regarding Daredevil Season 3, I went on a tear and finished it last Friday night/Saturday morning. Yeah. . . they knocked this one out of the park. As someone steeped in Daredevil's mythology and a kid who read the Born Again comics when they first came out, this past season just checked a ton of boxes for me. There are elements from other Daredevil stories too, and they were all beautifully weaved together. Yes, you can find some story threads that may feel like tropes to some folks. And there are some filming/storytelling techniques that may rub some people the wrong way. But they absolutely nailed every single character, making you care about their backstories and respective situations. Both the old characters and the new ones are very well developed. There are so many things I'd like to comment on, but there's one thing I have to make note of: After being in God-mode during Defenders, I absolutely LOVE that Matt's back to having knock-down, dragged-out fights, taking damage and trying to give it back tenfold. If this is how the Marvel-Netflix pocket of the MCU ends, they ended it on a high note.
  8. ^^Bottom line: content is ultimately gonna become king (if it hasn't already). If Netflix doesn't have the shows, programs, or movies I want to watch, I'll stop watching it (or stop utilizing a friend's/relative's account ). CBS' streaming service only has Star Trek Discovery. Youtube's only noteworthy series so far (for me) has been Cobra Kai. And with that upcoming Clone Wars bookend story and possibly these Marvel-Netflix series moving to Disney's streaming service, I may need to consider nabbing it too. So, I kinda, sorta understand the moves from a business standpoint. But from a creative standpoint. . . . . . this really SUCKS! Both Season 2's for Luke Cage and Iron Fist were MASSIVE improvements over their respective first seasons. They both ended their season 2's in such a way that you WANTED to see how they'd follow it up with their next seasons. For those that haven't watched 'em yet, imagine if Ron Moore's BSG was cancelled right after that Season 2 time-skip. You'd see the Cylons jumping to New Caprica, the Bucket and the Beast totally unprepared for it, and the Admiral making the painful decision to jump away. You'd see so many potential story angles coming out of this situation. . . and then boom! Series cancelled. That's how these announcements, cancelling Cage and Fist, feel like.
  9. Any word from Sentinel yet on when Yellow and Blowsuperior will be released?
  10. I wonder if they can still re-configure the shows to become Daughters of the Dragon and Heroes for Hire? As I mentioned in some of the spoiler posts above, I was intrigued enough to see how they'd move forward with Fist's Season 3. Bummer.
  11. I take it back: Brock destroyed some of Copy Cat’s heist crew a few episodes back.
  12. Are you talking about the season finale or the last ep with the blizzard maker and the assassination attempt? Because if it’s the latter, ask Brock to say “spaghetti.” Honestly, we haven’t really had a full-on “Brock MDK’s a poor fool” moment this entire season.
  13. I'm definitely getting shades of the Born Again storyline from the most recent trailer. Hope they can pull it off well.
  14. Yeah, pretty much. Season 1 had a lot of Hand nonsense, corporate boardroom shenanigans, and too much chi talk. In Season 2, Episode 1, they do a quick summary of the key events from Season 1 and Defenders that catches you up before starting into Season 2 proper. The main things you may NOT get from the summary are that: Colleen Wing used to be a Hand disciple, but changed sides. Ward started off hating Danny, while Joy seemed more open to him. But by the end of Season 1, they both switched (Ward being open to Danny and Joy plotting revenge against Danny). Misty Knight met Danny and Colleen during Defenders. Misty lost her arm, protecting Colleen during Defenders. Danny's company gave Misty a new arm during Luke Cage Season 2. Honestly, I maybe only watched the first and last episode of Season 1 in their entirety and just skimmed a few other eps. You're probably better off just going straight into Season 2.
  15. Couldn't let Matt Murdock get all the comic book suit fun. Let the beatdowns ensue! Oct.19th So, Born Again adaptation? Typhoid Mary making an obvious appearance? Bullseye? Considering how Cage and Fist both ended their last seasons, I'm curious if DD will surprise us with its Season 3 ending.
  16. I can accept Luke becoming a salty curmudgeon in his old age. I can almost get behind Luke being reluctant to train another Jedi. And I can almost understand Luke having a temporary moment of weakness and seriously consider killing his nephew. BUT I don't, won't, and can't support a Luke who doesn't run off to save his friends and family at the first sign of trouble. It doesn't jive with the Luke we saw in A New Hope, in Empire Strikes Back, nor in Return of the Jedi. That guy never hesitated to save others. And no matter how dire the situation, he can always fall back to "I once saved my father, who was the most evil bastard in all of the galaxy. This ain't squat!"
  17. So, I barrelled through Iron Fist Season 2 last weekend (10 episodes). Starts off a little slow at the beginning, but DEFINITELY MUCH better than the first season. We still have to deal with the Meachum siblings, but they toned down the corporate scheming a bunch. After some initial misgivings, the Meachum sibs turned out be much more consistent and interesting characters the second time around. For those of you who have watched Season 2: Other random thoughts:
  18. So, HELPeR, Mark II’s voice sounded oddly familiar. Turns out it’s Coran from Netflix Voltron. But yeah, this has been a fun season so far. Wonder what the next big reveal will be.
  19. I don’t think they ever released Fives in his ARC deco. And 5 POA doesn’t cut it for me, unless it’s a senator or standing at attention clone/trooper. They’re called action figures for a reason. But yeah, Hasbro made it pretty clear that they didn’t want to continue the 3 3/4” line that Kenner started oh so many years ago.
  20. I find it kinda ironic that Hasbro has gone back to caring about the collectors again. I understand that it was getting expensive for them to keep the 3 3/4" line going (too expensive to make all the parts necessary for super-articulated figures and shrinking profit margins). But the double-whammy of forcing collectors to go to the 6-inch scale and my meh-ness towards TFA finally made me to leave the Hasbro collecting game completely. Even before all this happened though, there were so many signs that Hasbro kept screwing up a good thing: We saw tons of cool figures during Comic-Con and Toy Fair, but good luck ever finding them in an actual brick-and-mortar store. Their case assortments were atrocious (Did they really need to repack a not-so-good Darth Vader and a Sandtrooper again?). They over-produced the Phantom Menace wave, but never produced enough of the other Vintage collection waves. They used to do a bunch of online Q&A's with various collector websites. But once people kept pointing out the issues with distribution and case assortments, Hasbro just gave canned answers and stopped doing the Q&A's all-together. They never took full advantage of releasing figures that appeared in later season Clone Wars or Rebels (never released Pong Krell, Fives, Maul-deco'ed Mandalorians, articulated Bo Katan, Season 3 and later Ezra Bridger, Rebels-Era Rex, etc.). So, basically Hasbro has a massive uphill climb to bring an old collector like me back into the fold. In all honesty, Hasbro has no one to blame but themselves for this whole situation.
  21. Really hope the kid ditches Poe, finds himself in the Outer Rims or Unknown Regions, pushed back in time about 10-20 years, and winds up on a little “trip” with Sabine Wren and Ahsoka the White.
  22. Most of the articles I’ve read state that Season 8 is the last season (per the series creators’ choice). Doesn’t preclude them from novel tie-ins or coming up with spin-off series. But that’s their game plan.
  23. Okay, just powered through all the recently released eps (Season 7). Yeah, the creators put some serious homages to But even with all these, we've got to be building towards
  24. Based on the trailer, I’m willing to give Season 2 a shot. I really hope they learned from all the mistakes from Season 1 and late-season Defenders. 1). Keep the corporate junk and the Mecum(sp?) stuff to a minimum (or just non-existent). 2). Keep the youthful exuberance of early-episodes Defenders, but ditch the whiny, “knocked off his center by any little setback” Danny we’ve all come to loathe. I think the Danny we saw in Luke Cage Season 2 is a nice balance to move forward with. 3). More K’un-Lun flashbacks when relevant please. 4). More of the Daughters of the Dragon stomping out punks is always good. 5). Good start having Danny wear a mask, but get him rocking the yellow bandana by the end of the series! He’s already taking over the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen’s role of protecting the city (who originally wore just a black bandana over is eyes and head) and he’s worn that look in the (I’m assuming) flashback. Bust it out already! It makes too much sense, storywise and for meta-reasons.
  25. I'm actually fine with the design shown. It's a nice mix of the updated look with the original animated look. Considering we only got CM's rendition of Houquet for general release, I'm fine with Sentinel sticking a little closer to the original anime design. From what I can tell in the drawing, the heels, arm armor pieces, chest armors, and helmet visor will be different from the "standard" Mospeada armor. Also from the drawing, it looks like Houquet's own chest armor will have those flared red shoulder pads that I really like. We still have to see how all the pieces look in Bike mode, and I'd like for Houquet to have a more feminine V shape running from her hips to her feet. But it's a very promising design that they showed off in that drawing.
