I’d advocate patience. There’s a lot of new parts they have to design/make for both the bike and the figure. But if we see the Bartley peeking out on the Blowsuperior’s box cover-art. . . I’d take it as a very good sign!

Wound up getting into NY when the preorder went up. Got it for about US$350 (including shipping). Considering I was expecting to pay that much just for the figure itself, I'm cool with the price I paid. Of course the "price" I'm paying with the lack of sleep and frayed nerves from pre-order madness kinda offsets some of that.

I think the Cat said she would be out and without Internet access for this session of preorder madness. I was gunning for GX-88 and managed to sneak in an order for VV/Dairugger XV.
-
If it was the same situation as the SOC GX-88, it was listed on Amazon.jp, and you could place it in your cart. But it would NOT ship to the US. Sucked. Edit: Pretty much what NeoMatter said immediately above.

If anyone is trying for GX-88, NY had it listed for Y29,800(!). Got one in! Now I need the whiskey to sooth the nerves.
-
C'mon NY, process me through!
-
NY showing GX-88 at 29,800, but I think they're just setting it up. Get ready for the price jump.

"Negative; it only impacted on the surface."

Vaya con Dios, folks!

Why do I feel like we're about to storm Normandy, and the door is about to drop open. . . . . . with a hail of bullets to greet us?

Just don't get between me and my preorder!!!!1111!!!!

If we're getting a TV-style VF-1S, it'd be nice to add: Both Roy and Hik' pilots; Hik with Misa on his lap (after the big battle); Heat shield deployable in Gerwalk mode (from the same big battle); "Pineapple salad'ed" Roy and seat! Edit: And a more efficient way to pre-order these damn things.
-
Man, I really hope the sites don't misspell Dairugger XV.

Thanks for the links, sh9000. Old Vehicle Voltron is kinda lonely without his younger, slightly smaller, more nimble siblings: Here's hoping we all get an order in!

Coffee to keep us alert. And alcohol to calm the nerves. The trick is figuring out when to use which.

I'm actually going after the GX-88 tonight, but I'll be fighting alongside ya'll in this MADNESS(TM). I did come prepared though: Ready for all possible outcomes!

I’m gonna miss the rolling wheels that ALL the individual vehicles had in the 80’s version. But we’re getting a butt-load of accessories that the US release never got (sword, Sea Team plug in parts) and a bunch of options (different coptor blades, different hand options). Surprised that Bandai hasn’t tried to mimic that “punch, punch, scrunch” bit VV does after he first combines.

So, the preorder is June 3rd, Tokyo time, right? So, that would mean Sunday night, June 2nd (June 3rd if it’s past midnight) for most of us schmucks in the US, correct?

Well, Voltie’s about to bust out the solar combat spears or whatever the heck they’re called. I’m a bit of a lightweight when it comes to whiskeys, but I tried this Cali Sipping Whiskey that’s pretty good. Not a strong, kick you in the face whiskey. But literally one that you sip over ice, just to enjoy and chill.

Is it bad that I saw IPA, and my first thought was, “That’s a strong Indian Pale Ale!” Sucks what happened to your figure though.

That’s a very clean looking back on VV/Dairugger XV! Along with the pics that Kuma Style posted in the SOC thread, this is looking purty. My only minuscule nit is that I wish the forearms could be positioned facing towards the sides, instead of always facing front. (Look at the blue forearm in my post above to see what I mean.). Just looks a little weird, but I suspect it was a design compromise. And they’re giving us different fixed pose hands probably to compensate. And I agree about the bumpers. I thought they would fold down for stability purposes in combined mode. But I don’t get why they’re so elongated.

At least the issue for Episode I leaked out the opening crawl. But yeah, heavy on the hype, but light on addressing the fan backlash. What little is discussed in the article still does not motivate me to watch this.

Alright, when should I get the whiskey and coffee ready for pre-order night? That’s a ton of articulation they’re showing off. Hopefully, those joints will be strong as stink. They’ve come a long way from 35 years ago: EDIT: So, about US$350 at the current exchange rates. Hopefully, it comes with a full complement of weapons.

We could argue about Luke (and Obi and Yoda) til the cows come home. But I think we can both agree that making Picard the head of Section 31 would be a much bigger and colossal betrayal of a character we’ve observed over the years.

I’m actually making a comparison between Luke and Picard, specifically their recent or planned treatments given what we already know. But I have to disagree on your take about Luke. As I’ve said numerous times, Luke’s always been the guy to leap up whenever people (especially his friends) are in trouble, consequences be damned. He did it when he realized Owen and Beru were in danger, he did it when he rescued Leia, he did it when he jumped into an X-Wing to take on a Death Star, he did it when he flew off to Bespin despite Yoda’s warnings, he did it when he didn’t wallow in self-pity and came up with plans to rescue Han from Jabba, and he did it when he volunteered for the Endor strike team without thinking it through. Yes, other Jedi Masters failed royally. But Yoda and Obi played the long game after their respective failures. What was Luke’s excuse for hiding away? Yeah, Luke screwed up during his moment of weakness with Kylo. But how was it any worse than ignoring Yoda and Obi’s warnings, getting his ass handed to him, and finding out Mr. Embodiment of Dark Side Evil is your daddy? Again, I don’t mind Luke failing, but I disagree with how they ignored all of his previous, well-established character traits. Which seems to be exactly what’s happening here, with Picard running Section 31. It absolutely flies in the face of everything we know about the man.
