Poor Rex: The losses of his brothers keeps mounting, and he has give up his helmet for Anakin’s . . . umm . . . booty calls. Guess we can also give Obi-Wan a new nickname: Kencockblocker. Other than the amusing bits above, this ep was kinda too by the numbers for my taste. Hopefully, it wraps up by next episode. Need to get to Order 66.

Can we also get a leg art decal/sticker of Minmay rocking Misa’s hairbuns?

Is Obi gonna start talkin' like John Wayne? Or will he channel his inner Rooster Cogburn and start exaggerating his exploits to the nearest Sand People around?

So, to summarize the Kakizaki part of this thread:

If you do that to a Toynami, then YCAPS .N .U would have to be Robotech-ified: ”You Can Access Protoculture Stuff. Near. Underside.” @wmkjr, stop mirror-imaging the Hasecadiawavtoynamdai 1A!

They’ll find a way; much like life, they’ll find a way. BTW, talking about that video, I already know what a Jedi in those good ol’ days would fear the most: * Falling to the Dark side; * Falling in love; and * People dying as a result of his/her/its actions. . . . So, how would that be different from any other Star Wars Jedi-centered story?

The biggest problem with the Sequel Trilogy is that they practically backstoried everything. Very little was actually discussed or shown in the films themselves. Why is there even a First Order? Read the books. When the hell did Palpatine have children? No clue. Because the films don’t consider it important enough to go over. As far as what comes next, it really comes down to how Disney’s creative will respect the source material. Best case scenario is Dave Filoni bringing in Thrawn earlier into the Rebels timeline, but totally nailing Thrawn’s mastermind tactician aspects. Worst case scenario is you get Joel Schumacher’s Batman films going for lowest common denominator and totally missing what made Two-Face and Mr. Freeze compelling villains.

If Kakizaki doesn’t come with battle damage, fuel leak trails, “blown up by overloaded barrier” effects, and an uneaten sizzling steak, I will call a foul! Shame and a pox upon thee, Bandai!! . . . And what does “YCAPS .N .U” mean? Yak de Culture Are Permanently Stored. Near. Underside?

So, why would TV Kakizaki have the skull and crossbones if he was never part of Skull Squadron? #RecognizeTheVermillion! #BandaiScrewsUpTheTampoAGAIN!!11!!1!!

Okay, I'll eat crow: this first ep. sucked me right back in. Filoni and company know how to do Clone-centered eps.

Oh, I get the business reasons for it. But there is the potential to have the opposite effect and make people wait until most of the eps are out. With Clone Wars, the week to week can be a slog. Plus, we got spoiled with Netflix making all of Season 6 available. And all of the older eps are already available for streaming on D+ right now. Like I said, I get the reasons behind it. But releasing by arcs would have been a nice alternative. I know Disney is gonna give me the shaft, but it’d be nice if they throw me the proverbial pity compliment and tell me my hair looks pretty.

I suspect they’re releasing one episode per week. But I really wish they would go one arc per week, releasing all of an arc’s three to five episodes in one shot. Oh well.

Convertors Transforming Toy Line (Select)
Mog replied to fifbeat's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I have the grasshopper and the scorpion too. Kinda meh figures. The grasshopper and the Super VF-1S broke after 30+ years, while most of the other Converters are still solid as heck. The birds (and bat) were far cooler figures with decent-to-good transformation processes. -
Yeah, but considering that they’re not exactly sticking to the original designs for the figures themselves, it would be better to update the sword a bit too. In any case, what I’ve seen so far doesn’t inspire me to switch to the 6-inch scale. Just ain’t my thing at this point for either the Joe or Star Wars lines.

And they should have made the sword hilt longer, so SE ain’t using a baseball bat grip on a sword. #PetPeeves.

Snake Eyes looks like an amalgamation of his Version 2 and Resolute looks. Not feeling the Arashikage symbol belt buckle. Feels like it should be on Snake's arm, forearm, or bandolier. IF I ever get into this line, I'll wait until they make the inevitable commando version of SE. Regarding your question @Mommar, I have no clue who that is either. Probably some other non-Joe, generic soldier for comparison purposes?

Well, it's a relatively "simple" transformation process, not too many ways for the Tread's arms and legs to transform. The proverbial devil will be in the features, accessories, Legioss connection mechanisms, added articulation, and little details they'll work in.

I’m hoping those joints are made of metal or some durable POM(?) plastic. More important though, I really hope that whole shoulder assembly can hold a pose and not get floppy over time.

Seriously. Did they really need to film the test shot in red lighting? I’m just waiting for someone to spoof the footage with the Daredevil Netflix OP theme. Totally unrelated, but thanks for the link. The stories Patrick Stewart told immediately after Jackman’s were . . . uncomfortably funny.

I suspect part of the reason the Toynami Beta was so “leg gappy” in bomber was to accommodate the Alpha fitting into that gap for the fighter combo. I’m hoping that with Sentinel’s more compact design for the Legioss’ backside and feet/exhausts, this will eliminate the need for that design compromise gap, allowing the Tread’s legs to be closer to the center fuselage. Honestly, the Toynami Beta design would be a good starting point for Sentinel to build upon.

Like I said, “minor” concern. More pressing, I do hope they can: 1). Improve the gap behind the bomber cockpit (and probably come up with a way to integrate in the Armo-Soldier chestplate with it too). 2). Minimize the gaps between the two main boosters and the central array (and likewise, minimize the gap between the thighs and center fuselage in bomber mode); 3). Incorporate the shoulder missile hatches that CM’s has; 4). Have the Legioss lock in place securely and have the overall fighter combo look good; and 5). Find a way to attach the Gatling gun in bomber and in fighter combo mode.

Obviously, go with your favorite character. If you have no preference, Yellow does come with the saddlebags, the beam gun, and the beam rifle. Ray just comes with his pea shooter, no other accessories, and a pretty plain armor with no markings. This is, of course, assuming both are the same price, which you’ll probably wanna check.

Exactly what @Convectuoso said. Also, the Alphas are as fragile and brittle and requiring kid gloves as everyone has claimed. But the Betas are generally solidly-built toys with ratchet joints in all the key spots. They got nowhere near the issues that the Alphas have. My only minor concern with the hard points are that they’d have to widen the gap in the forearms to get the wing and its hard points to fit. But missiles and the Gatling gun would be nice add-ons.
