The Mandalorian - Star Wars webseries from Jon Favreau
Mog replied to SMS007's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Does this mean she’ll be directing a movie about how we fixed the Hubble Telescope or a great film about an Indy Car/CART racing rivalry?- 1438 replies

One quick tip: With the Falcon Fighter Jet, the best way to remove it from the Strato Weapons Module is start by removing the clip closest to the Jet’s backside/thrusters. An easy way to cause this to happen is to push down on the Jet’s canopy, which you’ll probably discover on your own as you try to pose Voltron or re-angle the Jet as a chest piece. Also, looking back at the forearm cars, I do wish they could have been positioned on Voltron with the canopies was away from the body (instead of always locked facing toward the front). However, I suspect it was a design compromise, in order to still make the Turbo Terrain Fighter feasible and to not make the elbow connection too complicated.

I was thinking more about the Leo Beebe stuff in the film, more so than the Enzo vs. Ford II stuff. From what I’ve read, I understand Enzo didn’t like Ford having final say on the racing side of things, which pretty much killed the deal. They kinda portrayed that in the film, but they muddied the timeline to (inaccurately) show that Ferrari used the Ford negotiations to squeeze Fiat for more money (which wasn’t the case in real life). The film also tried to lean more into Shelby and Miles being “maverick geniuses” bucking against Ford corporate culture than the actual collaborative process it really was. Again, it was probably done for entertainment purposes. But it doesn’t kill the film. If anyone’s looking for more info. or a more in-depth story into the rivalry/history, I strongly recommend watching “The 24 Hour War” documentary on Netflix.

I'm a RTFM kinda guy. But if memory serves me correctly, there's one scary as hell step where you separate the crotch guard from the rest of the bike. I forget if you try to separate it from the top or from the bottom. But that's the one step I remember being difficult and worrisome. It also helps that a lot of parts are ball-and-socket joints that you can pop back into place. Actually, popping off the front suspension struts from their connection socket does open up some posing options for the forearm armors.

I'll probably just tap my "Fill up my gas tank, and GET OFF MY LAWN!!" app, or tell my Alexasiri Smart Water FaucetTM to do all those things.

Maybe I'm the exception to the rule, but I just don't see that happening. Part of the fun of driving the car yourself (rather than it driving itself) is controlling it and seeing how far you can push its and your abilities. I'm in the minivan stage of life . But even then, I still wanted to see how well I could push the minivan up a mountain and downhill through some curves. For example, I get why the van has a lane departure warning. But that blipping warning pisses me off, especially when I'm trying to take a better line out of a corner/curve. Again, I get adding all these new bells and whistles on the cars. But I don't think I'll ever give up control of driving the vehicle myself.

You really want JJ to sell people on this movie with his story-telling abilities? That's like marketing a mini-van by boasting about its top speed.

Am I the only one who thinks they can add a red bandana and more curved sword to these things and re-brand these as Killer Instinct figures?

Just got back from watching the movie. It was a solid film with some fun banter and bits, but it felt a little heavy-handed with the antagonist stuff. They probably should have called the film "Miles & Shelby" instead. Still, it was an absolute treat to watch the GT40 and the Ferrari roaring in action. I probably did spoil a lot of the movie for myself by watching the more detailed documentary, "The 24 Hour War" a few weeks ago. But I enjoyed Ford V Ferrari nonetheless. P.S.--They should have stuck with the 60's rock soundtrack for the TV trailers, instead of using "Feel It Still."

Kinda wish that the blue on the bike and armor was just a shade or two lighter, but I'll live with it.

Do you mean the Fleet of Doom Robeast combiner? Because I could get behind that. No clue where I'd put it, but I'd find a way. In any case, Moggy settled on a display pose for the Voltrons:

It’s not too difficult to repaint the helmet to get rid of the HUD lines: It’s probably better to spray paint the Tamiya clears than brush paint ‘em (as above). But it can be done. It’s a bit of a PITA to brush paint, but still doable.

Just one minor addition to the Communications Module: its white tower has a tiny fin on each side that can be folded out.

So, I finally got my copy of Dairugger/Vehicle Voltron. For those of you that had the original 80's big boy, SOC VV will look and feel so much tinier. I felt like I needed petite fingers to pop open the landing gears, towers, and some of the transformation parts. And one of the front flaps on my copy's waist/hips likes to pop off. But I do appreciate all the additional details Bandai added, such as missile silos, working treads on three of the bigger Dairugger vehicles, and retractable landing gears for the Air Team. But despite being so much smaller, SOC VV (much like Golion) has got some serious heft to it. SOC VV feels much heavier than the original big 80's toy. As soon as I got it into fully combined mode, I had to put it through its paces: Ohhh. . . . PUNCH! PUNCH! (Almost) SCRUNCH! Oh so close, but the elbows just can't rotate beyond 90 degrees to complete that memorable post-combination pose-set. Also tried the following: Yup, the sword is pretty freakin' huge: It's so large that it actually scales alright with the original VV toy: Took awhile, but nice to have both Volties to display now:

Yamato shrank the backpack in battroid by having almost half of the fuselage collapse into/slide over itself. To make the backpack shrink more would require more panel origami. (Some sort of three panel/section folding?)

You mean George needed someone to tell him that having Anakin touch Padme’s bare back in AOTC was a horrible, creepy idea?
