Spiral War needs Reviewers and Editors
Roger replied to Knight26's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Okay, not the last piece of advice but I just thought of this: you might find some interest in the forums at sff.net. A lot of science fiction writers hang out there, too, and it's a good way to get in contact with them. -
Spiral War needs Reviewers and Editors

You apparently took my posts personally. I think you should reread them. I was in no way "berating" you, I was just telling you what I've heard, and I encouraged you to stick to your original plan if that's what you felt would serve you best. Last piece of advice: if you're going to put your work out there, you're going to have to dull your sensitivities a bit. ;p -
The Scopedog in this set does not use the AG Next tooling, it's the original first version AG Scopedog. The third AG Next Scopedog is being solicited for pre-orders: http://www.hlj.com/product/TKT31246

Spiral War needs Reviewers and Editors
Roger replied to Knight26's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
It all depends on what your ultimate goal is. From what I've been told by people in the industry, self-publishing is pretty much a one-way ticket: once you've done it, you're seen as "damaged goods." The perception it creates in their minds is that you aren't capable of creating work that's good enough for someone else would pay you for it. This is a perspective that you won't get from the self-publishing web sites, because they have to justify their existence, of course. Even if do you make it, the climate for science fiction writers is pretty rough right now. The current trend is that publishers will pick up a new writer only for a book or two and then move on to the next new writer. It's cheaper to do this instead of continuing to pay a writer a progressively larger fee for each book, or rely on the back catalog of veteran writers. Also, don't plan on quitting your day job. Even if you could crank out a book evey year you might have a tough time actually making a living off of what you earn. Just injecting a little sunshine into your day. ;p -

A suggestion? If you want to be taken seriously as a writer, skip all of this and go straight to an industry professional. Many established authors and editors hire themselves out to read the manuscripts of aspiring writers and help them develop their books. It's also an opportunity to network if the person likes your work. Looking at that contract you posted, it seems like you're asking prospective editors to do a heck of a lot of work for some used toys. You might find out that you get what you pay for. Of course, if self-publishing is the route you want to take, then you should continue with what you have lined out in your original post. -
That's what they've been saying. The Japanese version is going to be about $40 more, plus presumably higher shipping costs.

Deleted scenes shouldn't be considered canon, either.

Southern Cross & Genesis Climber Mospeada

Better yet, why is someone who hates MOSPEADA reading this thread? -
Star Wars: Clone Wars animated series

I can't see how watching something on a smaller screen with commercial interruptions would make it better. ;p- 1217 replies

Whoa, when was this? I remember Cameron's funny counseling session, but when did all the stuff about a sexual relationship come up? Totally forgot about this character. Another loose end.

I haven't been watching. Any information as to what happened to Derek and the other soldiers while they were trapped in that house in the future? Any clues about the weird suicides at John's school?

Also, the people that thought Red Dawn was particularly violent was the MPAA. Red Dawn was the first movie to have a PG-13 rating.

You could just do a version of Red Dawn with the Chinese as a short film. They just show up at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue and say, "Pay up." ;p

LIVE ACTION ROBOTECH (WB gets the rights)
Roger replied to UN Spacy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
If they don't use this as the tagline for the Robotech movie I will be severely disappointed. "Coming in 2010, Robotech: The Motion Picture! THEY'RE FIGHTING FOR THE PETRO OF THE FUTURE, DAMN IT!" -
Podcast: Mobile Suit Gundam Char's Counterattack
Roger replied to Ginrai's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Char's plan was all based on speculation by one person: Char, and he was willing to throw away billions of peoples' lives for it. That's the very definition of a tyrant. Absolutely, he was selfish as well. There's no way for someone to believe that Char's actions in this movie are defensible in any way. -
Podcast: Mobile Suit Gundam Char's Counterattack
Roger replied to Ginrai's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Dropping asteroids on earth isn't destructive or polluting? The idea that Char is doing this to save the Earth is bogus. It's about Char's deep-seated need to control others. -
I've seen a couple of Korean ride armor bootlegs, and Legioss bootlegs, but they've been around for decades.

Haha, I never put "Chrome Arnie" together, that's pretty funny. I've wondered if the name was an oblique reference to Cromartie High School: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cromartie_High_School I was surprised to see references in there to Harlan Ellison and Demon With A Glass Hand.

Battlestar Galactica Discussion III
Roger replied to kaiotheforsaken's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
The last episode that aired wasn't the last one they filmed. They did film part of episode 411 before the writer's strike: http://en.battlestarwiki.org/wiki/Sometimes_a_Great_Notion He could be talking about things in the 411 script. -
Podcast: Mobile Suit Gundam Char's Counterattack
Roger replied to Ginrai's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
"We need to burn the village in order to save it" has been used as an excuse for countless atrocities long before humankind went into space. I never had a problem with Char's characterization in CCA, because I felt he was consistently portrayed throughout MS Gundam and Z-Gundam as someone who had no reservations about using people as tools to further his own ideals. They took the time to show that Char certainly had regrets and deep emotional pain over it, but if he was a truly good person like Amuro, he wouldn't have done those things in the first place. Char's little Freudian revelation while broiling in his escape pod does serve to explain some of his behavior, I suppose, but I don't think it was intended at all by Tomino to excuse it. I'm pretty sure that Harmony Gold and their partners are the ones distributing the Macross, Southern Cross and MOSPEADA TV series in countries outside of Japan, so even if you dislike Robotech, when you watch these unadulterated versions you're giving money to HG anyway . Nyah. ;p

The art was done by Hideki Kakinuma, and I believe it was Adrian who talked to him after a presentation about Megazone 23. I agree, if we were going to see a new MOSPEADA project, we'd know by now.
