Any Starship Troopers stuff in them?
-
Pre-order for the book here: http://www.fukkan.com/fk/CartSearchDetail?i_no=68311011 Dunno if they deal with gaijin, though. If HLJ or Amazon posts a pre-order, someone please post it. The cover art for the book is going to feature an updated version of the ride armor and armor bike, and the ride armor is going to be holding a gun the likes of which God has never seen.

LIVE ACTION ROBOTECH (WB gets the rights)
Roger replied to UN Spacy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I think its fair to say that the Robotech Live Action movie is at a stage in Hollywood known as DEVELOPMENT HELL. -
It was Kenner, before they got eaten up by Hasbro. I believe Toy Island also made some Terminator figures.
-
From what I've heard about the script, Cameron would give McG the evil eye instead of a blessing. The idea that this is going to get an R seems to be evaporating, too. They have Playmates making the toys. They're not going to be sponsoring an R movie.

LIVE ACTION ROBOTECH (WB gets the rights)

I didn't know that, but even if there are two scripts already, it doesn't qualify for "Development Hell." -
Thanks. Nothing for it on their site beyond what's on the front page, and no listing at Amazon yet. I'll be watching, though.

LIVE ACTION ROBOTECH (WB gets the rights)
Roger replied to UN Spacy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
That's a little premature, isn't it? The deal between Warner Brothers and Harmony Gold was signed only about a year ago, and they commissioned the first draft of the script only four months ago. All of the original people who were involved with it still are. If 2012 rolls around, the movie has bounced back and forth between three different studios, there are six different scripts, the movie has gone through eight different directors and it still hasn't been made, then you can give it the "Development Hell" label. ;p -
Awesome! Do you have the publisher and/or ISBN?

LIVE ACTION ROBOTECH (WB gets the rights)

I'd say McGuire is capable of acting in Spider-Man and producing Robotech at the same time. -
Sorry, I don't, but I do have some other AGs which I'll sell for retail, as well as all three RDMs which I'm willing to let go for half retail if you'll buy all three. Send me a PM if interested.

I don't, but that set was priced about the same as the previous Scopedog/Fatty set, and they barely have any paint on the outside.

Film adaptation of Joe Haldeman's The Forever War.
Roger replied to Roger's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I knew Marvano was working on a Forever Free, but I didn't know it was out yet. I've wanted to pick up that "New Beginning" graphic novel which was going to bridge the two but it's hard to find in the US. That's interesting, I see the word "soldierboy" in the text. Ever read Forever Peace? Marvano is also going to be doing a graphic novel of Joe Haldeman's 1968, which is one of my favorite novels ever. -

If you're referring to gays and lesbians, as long as Ridley Scott sticks to the portrayal of that aspect as it's presented in the novels, I doubt there will be any outcry. The book has been out for over three decades, and the earliest adaptation of it was actually a stage play by a gay and lesbian theater troupe. -
More wrinkles: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/7670351.stm Yesterday I had a conversation with someone who just came back from China and was having problems getting tooling made for his toy. Apparently the aftermath of the safety scandal has caused a ripple effect, affecting not only the factories themselves, but also their suppliers. That coupled with the blackouts/brownouts from the Olympics has made things somewhat messy.

Question about Tachikoma Collection:
Roger replied to wraith1701's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
They're almost all soft PVC and not very articulated, but they look nice, and it has the only Uchikoma toy in existence. -

The Starship Troopers suit was designed in the mid-70s. The Forever War cover was done in the mid-80s. Even though you don't see much of the suit on TFW's cover there are definitely similarities, but I really prefer it to some Western artists' depictions: (by Marvano) (by Neal Adams) -

That's because he was involved in the design of both: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naoyuki_Kato -
Fox 2000 has the rights, and Ridley Scott is directing: http://www.variety.com/article/VR111799385...d=1236&cs=1 In a perfect world, they'd use Naoyuki Katoh to do the design work on the fighting suits, of course: http://storage.kanshin.com/free/img_0/8559/38284282.jpg

Marmit was planning a Daigokin Andromeda, but I don't know if it materialized.

I guess Twin Moons didn't get the memo that Toynami scrapped the planned Cyclone MPC and replaced it with Beagle's. Did any other retailers offer $80 preorders for this?
-
It's on the official page here: http://www.takaratomy.co.jp/products/votom...ctic_index.html There's also an AG-N04, but they both look like they're just Scopedogs with the same old stuff included. Not as cool as a Mak.Po, of course. ;p
