^Lol, you guys. I've been watching but honestly it hasn't been interesting enough for me to post about. There's been no emotional punch, extreme action or other event that's made me say "WOW". It could be the let down after how Beth's storyline played out, but right now the show only evokes an "that's cool" from me. -b.

Avengers: Age of Ultron, in theaters May 1, 2015
Kanedas Bike replied to azrael's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Ha, ha, ha - agreed! Although, even if they turn out to be good parts of the movie my interest right now is in Iron Man, Cap, Black Widow, the Hulk, Vision and Ultron. Or basically the cool Avengers characters and the bad guy. -b.- 398 replies

Kanedas Bike replied to azrael's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
They're probably just doing it for the comic readers as a silent nod/hint. I'm pretty interested to see how they handle Vision, especially since as you said he doesn't appear in any of the trailers. -b.- 398 replies

Untitled Neil Blomkamp directed Alien project
Kanedas Bike replied to Kanedas Bike's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
^Oh, gotcha. Just to clarify, Blomkamp was working on a treatment (which is where most/all of the concept art is from), then he wasn't, now it's confirmed that he will be in fact directing a new Alien movie. -b. -
any dyrl hikaru vf-1a 1/60 owners with a non tint/rainbow canopy?
Kanedas Bike replied to a topic in Toys
Hey David, All of my Yamato DYRL 1A's have rainbow tint, but you got an awesome find - especially with the updated crotch system (the first releases can be a pain in the you-know-what). *Edit, good info Mommar -b. -

For now I'll just be excited to see the design aesthetic Blomkamp brings to the film. And as previously mentioned it's really good that he has a passion for the material. -b. *or I'll just go watch Aliens for the upteen-billionth time -

Kanedas Bike replied to Keith's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Yeah, a lot of my free time is spent on Destiny these days and some real world friends and those I've met online playing were talking about this. I'm with David in that if the kid was a teenager or older then I'd have zero sympathy, but for a little kid, I hope that someone beats the crap out of whoever deleted his stuff - and let that beat down be a life lesson. I hate bullies. -b.- 6837 replies

Two old folks and Alien(s) versus Corporate South Africa? Do not want. I'm hedging my bets against - simply because I want a good Alien movie. Hell, it's only been 20 years since the last one. -b. -
Blame Nolan? Out side of mainstream Marvel movies it seems like it's been hard for filmmakers to capture a balance of realism/drama and the inherent campy feel of comic books. Personally I'd rather they err on the side of dark and brooding but again I agree too much of that is out of place with characters like Superman. If DC can find the balance like Marvel has then they'd be golden. -b.

Really hope not, but you're probably right. I admit that I do like the production design having a "dark" or "grounded" look (speaking relative to a brightly colored "traditional" comic book aesthetic). -b.

Untitled Neil Blomkamp directed Alien project
Kanedas Bike replied to Kanedas Bike's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Si, I did. But it's just concept art. It doesn't hint at anything other than an idea for a character or setting. Besides why would I read all of that into that one pic and ignore the one with Hicks, the giant complex, the angry Queen in the jungle, etc? It's like putting together the plot based on a few illustrated proof-of-concept drawings. -b. -
Me thinks most folks feel, or felt, the same way. It's going to be interesting to see how DC is going to cram all of these characters into one film. I'm not as bent about the casting choices however the writing needs to be spot on to make this work. -b.

Lets not act like Weyland/Weyland-Yutani wasn't an antagonist going back to Alien. The ship did set down on "company orders" after all, and that's not revisionist history either. It was the major plot point leading to Ripley vs. Ash and the revelation of why the ship landed to begin with (beyond picking up some random distress beacon in the vastness of space). My point about them needing to move away from Ripley. Granted this was something Scott tried (and failed) to do with Prometheus. Not because the movie needed Ripley, it just needed compelling and intelligent characters. They may or may not, but if Weaver and Blomkamp have ties (wasn't aware she's in Chappie) then it does make her involvement more likely. I just hope that it's not the lead role. Ripley running from an Alien using a walking cane, or beating one to death with one doesn't interest me in the least. -b. -

Yep, with the exception/addition of the stand-alone Hicks and Face-Huggers those are the same concept pics as the link I posted earlier. The Ripley one is supposed to be a Space Jockey pilot helmet of some sort. -b. -
Arcadia 1/60 Perfect Transformation VF-0D for 2015
Kanedas Bike replied to Dark_Ghost's topic in Toys
Dunno, in those two shots, the one wide-angle and the one with Shin's hand on the 0D the blue looks basically the same (you can get a good look at the color if you look just to the upper right-hand corner of the UN Spacy Kite). Not saying that there are or are not differences in how the color looks throughout the series, just that it's not so bad that you couldn't attribute it to the animators trying to capture lighting/perspective/angles. Heck, I'm still not convinced of what the toy will actually look like. I keep looking at all of these pictures and depending on which one the blue is dark like Max (or Guld - ha ha) or it's a lighter shade. I'll just be surprised when I finally open the package and see for myself. A big fat transformable $ 300 surprise, with delta wings. -b. -

David! Really hope not, they already crossed that bridge in Resurrection with hybrid-Ripley. And to even have Hicks back with Ripley they would be to ret-con everything after Aliens. Not necessarily a bad thing but the waters are already muddied enough with the franchise. Just picture it, Alien 3 and Resurrection were nothing but cryo-dreams. -b. -

It's early still and who knows what the story will look like. Honestly I hope that the movie is NOT Ripley centric. If they must have old Weaver in there as a cameo but the movie cannot, or should not revolve around her. Alien 3 and Resurrection* did so much damage to the story and characters it might just be best to ignore those films/stories all together. *and I liked parts of Alien Resurrection, and while I like Fincher as a Director, Alien 3 can kiss my @ss -b. *Edit here is some pretty cool concept art; http://io9.com/neill-blomkamps-secret-alien-movie-looks-so-good-were-f-1677082116 **Edit re: Resurrection, I've made it clear in other topics that I like Whedon - and Resurrection was classic him. A strong or super-powered lead or central character (Buffy, Angel, River, Skye) surrounded by a motley group that helps that character achieve whatever the goal is -

Hmm. Well then I'm glad I'm not in the market. Good luck to those who are! -b. -
Right! But considering I love (buying) Macross toys, trying to figure out how to afford them all is a good problem to have. Looking forward to more pictures and intense debates about color choices. -b.

Well, here comes another Alien film. I'm part stoked because honestly Prometheus was a total let down but also a bit nervous. http://variety.com/2015/film/news/new-alien-movie-confirmed-at-fox-with-director-neill-blomkamp-1201436551/ Both points argued pretty well in this article; http://www.wired.com/2015/02/neill-blomkamp-alien/ So ready or not - Xenomorphs! -b.
