Medicom/Hot Toys and all 1/6 scale figures
Kanedas Bike replied to EXO's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
No love for Batman or any of the other SDCC Exclusives? http://www.sideshowtoy.com/collectibles/knightmare-batman-hot-toys-902770/ The Iron Man Mark 27 armor is a little uninspired in my opinion, it makes me wish I'd never sold my Midas and purchased the Stealth Armor (http://www.sideshowtoy.com/collectibles/marvel-iron-man-mark-vii-stealth-mode-version-hot-toys-902356/) that came out last year - those were excellent releases, exclusive or not. -b. -

Untitled Neil Blomkamp directed Alien project
Kanedas Bike replied to Kanedas Bike's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Not that I have any particular love for; Alien 3 - actually, hated that one or Alien: Resurrection - didn't mind it ->enjoyed it- mostly because it wasn't half bad and I'm an admitted fan of Joss Whedon, and it felt like a Joss Whedon story I'd be interested to see if the Blomkamp film will simply ignore those two, or try to work them into the story somehow. Hope these movies work out and I really hope that Covenant and sequel can redeem the POS that was Prometheus. -b. -

All good! Really would have been awesome for them included a Mark 43, especially at $ 800+ but no joy. And I feel/felt exactly the same about Captain America as a character that figure looks so cool, and while pricey, it wasn't Iron Man armor pricey so I bit the bullet. -b. -
You're not listening/reading to what's been written. Not once did I say or write friction and I certainly didn't say hopes (extrapolate that to dreams, best wishes, the Force, luck or any other abstract concept). I also didn't mention the backplate - I said the chest. When transformed correctly, it locks. But hey - if your Bandai DX Chogokin Renewal 25s in Battroid are comparable to the old Yamato YF-19 in that way, well then that sucks. And just so I'm clear, again - Renewal 25's not original. I was almost inclined to post links to some transformation videos or the reviews on Anymoon, but at this point, the horse is dead. *Edit, let me soften my tone a bit after the fact, I really don't want or intend to argue or be snide to anyone over this - and I truly do believe that it's just a transformation issue, I just took some umbrage with a couple of comments (I'll blame my lack of sleep and return to work after vacation). Also, I'm not a "Bandai guy" in the Bandai vs. Yamato/Arcadia fight, I'm fine with pointing out the flaws in both company's products, I just don't see the chest area being one of them on the renewal. This because there is a designed mechanism that allows the chest to lock, securely - by design. Additionally, I have 3 of them in Battroid mode now, on display where the chest is securely locked with the correct, or designed transformation of each. -b.

If only it included Mark 43, I'd bite the ridiculous financial bullet for that, but Tag Hobby says it's not included. I also want Iron Man Mark 46, I cancelled my preorder with Sideshow in anticipation of the Civil War armor. But I'm playing the waiting game on that one. And I'm soooooo excited - my promo Captain America from Civil War will be shipping this Friday or very soon thereafter; http://www.sideshowtoy.com/collectibles/marvel-captain-america-battling-version-hot-toys-902703/ Happy, Happy! -b. -
Edited my post a bit after I checked other 25's I have on display, in Battroid mode but it sounds almost like you don't have the chest pushed down far enough, you'll know because there will be a secure snap. Anywho - sorry for the OT discussion. I think we can all agree that we hope that Bandai delivers a solid product in at least 2 of the 3 modes for all of the 31's. -b.

You're good Noel, there is a locking mechanism for the Renewal DX 25's. If it's aesthetics that people have an issue with then fine, but it doesn't change the fact that the toy, when correctly transformed, has the chest area locked securely. Not sure if I'm describing the same thing as you, but the chest, when transformed correctly (pulled, or angled all the way down) causes the chest to lock or hold securely. Of all the issues the DX's had, most of them involve stupid loosening joints. Hips, shoulders, etc. To date my 25A is the only 25 that has avoided every single issue - my copies are still as solid as the day I bought them. Give me a good looking, mostly accurate, solid DX 31 and I'll be happy to throw Bandai more of my money. -b. *edit, just checked my 25F and YF-25, the only other 25 Valkyries I have in Battroid and the chest is locked. And I mean locked in the sense that you can literally turn them upside down, shake the Valk, move it, whatever and the chest does not dangle or fall apart a la earlier YF-19s. I don't see why the 25S would be any different because they all use the exact same design iteration after iteration, but mine is in Fighter covered in Armor Parts, no way I'm taking it all apart just for this discussion. I dunno, maybe someone else can articulate what I'm trying to say better, or they have pictures. But my 25's are good, at least in that one respect.

Macross Collectibles Market Watch - Current Auction/Store SOLD prices
Kanedas Bike replied to jvmacross's topic in Toys
Nope, but I did snag the Super/Strike parts that were posted the same night. I wish I'd seen that VF-1S before it sold out because I would have purchased it in a heartbeat. -b. -
Arcadia couldn't pay me to buy any of those items Sound Force. And to be perfectly honest, if they did make those, they'd be $ 300 + a pop and no one but the true diehards would buy them. And then bye bye Arcadia because those 200* people (give or take) cannot support a company. It really is a no brainer for them to stick with the VF-1, re-release some items that haven't been released in years, and/or, do some custom or less known schemes to lure the fanbase into buying. -b. *that number is a rough estimate based purely on my dislike of Macross 7 and associated Valkyrie designs
-
Was about to say I don't display the boxes either, but that's not entirely true. Lol *looks over at the Arcadia 30th Anniversary VF-1J -b.

What do you mean? That preview pics has the Green Lion with the flat-head look and the Red Lion has the circular ones. I make no claims about accuracy, it's been so long since I've watched any Voltron I have no idea what's right or official. -b.

Not sure about that, the two VF-19 Advance's I opened were both pretty solid in Fighter mode. I will concede that the shield area has gaps, but nothing at all to get anxious about. If I do any complaining, if warranted, it will be immediately after I have a 31 in-hand and then again if the toy has any joint or other issues. Prototypes and test runs always look like this, it's pretty funny to see the same nitpicks release after release after release. Sure do hope the box art is to everyone's liking, I'd hate to go through 3 pages about that. -b.

The Alien/Predator/Aliens vs. Predator Thread
Kanedas Bike replied to VT 1010's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Nice. I've been hoping for another high-quality release since Aoshima did the Dropship a few years back. Hopefully it's detailed, has a "decent" size to it and isn't ridiculously expensive. Very much looking forward to more news, and pics. *Edit, it'll be expensive, just watched the clip on Tag Hobby, there are lights on this - although there should be no lighting effects in the front of the missile pods. -b. -
Trust me, anyone who missed the first window at stores like HLJ, AmiAmi and Hobby Search, the orders will open up again. Randomly over the next couple of months and then right before, and after release. It's just a pain because you have to be patient and really stalk your store(s) of choice. -b.
-
^yep Had to check all of the stores to see which had that discount. Just one or a very limited number with damage to the box. I didn't buy it, so I can't say, but I no one has been really vocal about issues with the HMR Glaug. NOW - I'm off to bed -b.
-
No worries, I think everyone that collects the toys has been there. And welcome! Now - off to bed for me. -b.
-
Yep! But to be fair, Bandai's HMR have been relatively easy to get, if you're patient, and really diligent. All of the items have had the orders open up at least once or twice before release, and then right around that time. But once they're released it's a crap shoot, they could be available at second-hand stores for new or used, but flip a coin to see if that'll be the case with Max. -b.
-
Wait to see if you get the order confirmation email, if you did then you're fine, if not, then yeah, screwed. *Edit, yep, what Old Man said -b.
-
Iron Man Mark III and Episode II Obi Wan went up tonight. As I type this sold out at AmiAmi (ha) and Iron Man Hobby Search (they still have Obi Wan), but both still available at HLJ. -b.

Never. Nor have Yamato, because they actually want(ed) you to buy their figures. Silly Bandai - And if you think this was "fun", wait until the DX VF-31's go up for pre-order. -b.

Got one at HLJ and HS. Also, SH Figuarts Obi Wan and Iron Man Mark III (at both stores as well). Didn't even bother with AmiAmi. I don't have a T1 line running to my house. -b.

Even MORE remake madness.......
Kanedas Bike replied to taksraven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Ugh, that Flash Gordon series was trash (IMHO). It took me all of 5 minutes of watching one episode to never go back to it again. I loved watching the original Lost in Space in syndication as a kid, it was dumb, the effects were bad, everything was bad. But it was campy and as a 8-10 year old it was fun. It should be pretty hard to mess up a remake, and I have some faith in Netflix to produce a quality, to half-way decent show based on what they've produced thus far, but I've been let down before. For now - cautious optimism. -b.
