While I've been critical of what CBS is doing with this show, it'd be more fair to put the entire quote; “Lower your expectations. It is a symbiotic relationship and all I’m suggesting is that if you go with open minds and open hearts, you may be rewarded. Whereas if you go with a set of impossible to realize expectations, which even you cannot specifically define, then we’re bound to fail. And so I’m saying: Get loose.” -b.

Star Trek Beyond (the not The Search for Spock)
Kanedas Bike replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
The Rule of Cool trumps all. Now one's personal preference determines if you think something is "cool" or not, but the fact remains 90% + of what happens in action and sci-fi is because of that factor. Now thanks to all of these damn pictures and articles and scale comparisons I'm off to find a suitable toy of the Enterprise E. -b.- 466 replies

Star Trek Beyond (the not The Search for Spock)
Kanedas Bike replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
The color of the A was a lot more subdued as well, it was not pearly white like the other to JJ iterations of the Enterprise. Actually it looked more gray/silver IIRC. -b.- 466 replies

Yeah, no problem. I'd bet a lot of money that any or all of them will have stock of the VF-1S after release. It may not last for months, but we won't see massive shortages. QFT -b.

Besides HLJ, Ami Ami, Hobby Search, Nippon-Yassan, many Japanese e-tailers carry Arcadia products. -b.

Gundam Figure Thread - Newtype GN-002
Kanedas Bike replied to Black Valkyrie's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Even better! Toy budget might be saved. lol But (1) I never really paid that much attention since I've always been lucky to get orders at HLJ, Hobby Search, etc., however (2) when I have paid attention the release dates have been kind of sporadic - meaning I couldn't catch a patter or rhyme/reason to when US stores got stock so I appreciate all of the insight. Thanks again, -b.- 6025 replies

^Thank you sir. Replace 'budget' with 'loose guidelines' and you'll have a good idea of where I am with regards to my overall toy spending. -b.- 6025 replies

Gundam Figure Thread - Newtype GN-002
Kanedas Bike replied to Black Valkyrie's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Does anyone know when the US release date is for the Metal Build Exia & Exia Repair III re-issue is? BBTS has August, but I ordered from another store and they don't have a date. I checked Bluefin's site but it wasn't listed. Just trying to figure out the toy budge for the month or two. -b.- 6025 replies

Agreed, but it'd be like putting perfume on a pig. The SMS stands were okay, but nothing special (as far as stands go). We'd be better served if Bandai would include a better designed stand, or just not include one and lower the price. No argument with your thought, just want something that is more dynamic, or nothing at all. -b.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!!! Hell yes, those thing were/are garbage. Agreed and agree with the list. Those were, or are, depending on one's point of view the iconic VF-1 iterations of time. To date at least. A redesigned Arcadia 1/48 VF-1 would be nice in theory, but the price tag would be so stupid it'd be very cost prohibitive. Which brings us back to the HMR line, cost and size is exactly why this line is so appealing to a lot of collectors. Not my preference but I totally get why the line seems to be doing well. -b.

Saw it today. In a word I saw mentioned earlier to describe Suicide Squad - "Meh" In another word - 'Disappointing' Pretty sure that my expectations were too high. Oh well, at least the Ultimate Edition BvS was good. -b.- 242 replies

Even MORE remake madness.......
Kanedas Bike replied to taksraven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Remaking Scarface is a no-win situation. It has enjoyed cult status for so long that no film, no matter how well written, directed or acted will do the original (or I guess 80's version?) justice in the eyes of fans. I'd happily be wrong if the movie is a box office and critical success - but I wouldn't place a bet on it. -b. -
^Very cool, glad that you and others have enjoyed it. I've liked a LOT of films that were generally disliked so I've no issues going against the grain. For me a trailer, or what I know of the movie will generate interest for me, and in this case the trailer did a lot to turn me off of the movie. I'm guessing at some point I'll see it on cable or some streaming service, but even then I think it'll be something I watch on a lazy day with nothing else to do. Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised, who knows. -b.

Ok Nightbat. There are literally 8 pages worth of people arguing about the choice of casting and how the characters were written and everything that went along with that. Just think that it's really funny that Ghostbusters has turned into this lighting rod. Even funnier when you consider from most accounts this wasn't even a good movie. Be it reviews of the average movie goer or critics and the terrible box office numbers. But hey, carry on mate. -b.

Comparing Apples to Oranges - especially if you're talking about Yamato/Arcadia's v2 1/60. The Hi Metal R's are very well done for small scale 1/100 Valkyries, and are light years ahead of anything else folks *cough* Toynami *cough* is putting out in the same scale. Yamato/Arcadia's 1/60 scale are in a class by themselves, besides adherence to line art, detail, etc. - and no one is competing with them in this space (especially VF-1). -b.

Seriously, all of this over Ghostbusters? Maybe if we, as a community, stopped making comments about a character's gender, ethnicity, orientation, religious or political affiliations we wouldn't have to suffer through pages of "you're a this" or "no, you're a that". Even if that character was at one time someone or something else. This crap is infecting multiple threads and apparently is the "go-to" argument these days. And on topic, only the original was good, Ghostbusters 2 sucked and I have to imagine based on the trailer alone (because I haven't seen the remake, reboot, sequel - whatever) this new one does too. -b.

^ And who cares if the lead isn't a heterosexual white male? And if it's you, why? Does the casting of someone who doesn't fit that mold threaten you? The crap that got spit out over Star Wars TFA and to an extent Star Wars Rogue One is/was sickening, would love if that doesn't play out here either. Let's just argue, err, discuss, about the timeline, time period and how fugly the ship is. Besides, most of the commenters in this thread have stated that they're not willing to pay for the subscription to see ST:D, including myself. So... BUT As long as the character is compelling does this really have to be an issue? -b.

Agreed that the time period between TOS movies and the Next Generation would make for better subject matter. I feel like they're beating the TOS time period, and before (with Enterprise) to death. But oh well...at least Star Wars and Disney seem to be getting it right. -b.

Not to de-rail but Yamato/Arcadia's newer 1/60th line has always been a very good mix of toy and completed model. Their look and feel scream display piece, with an excellent ability to double as articulated perfect-transformation toy. Bandai's DX line, to me, has always been more playable and toy-like. I enjoy both for what they are, but to beat the horse a bit more I just wish they weren't so damn hard to collect. It really does take a lot of the enjoyment out of it. I just hope that the 31 line follows more in the steps of the 19 Advance with regard to quality and playability than the earlier 25 Renewals (25A being the most notable exception - being an amazing release) and even 29's. -b.

Ah okay, I just remember at one time I had a VF-25F with a broken peg for sale. I'm pretty sure that I sold it, just honestly can't remember to who. Or maybe I didn't. So many toys have come and gone... Either way, cool custom! -b.

C'mon JBO, not even remotely the same. You know that I'm referencing the history of Hot Rod and Prime. If Rodimus gets Convoy killed this time around people are going to go apesh!t. And it's going to be so funny. -b.
