Report: New Arcadia VF-1 white is still purple/pink
Kanedas Bike replied to davidwhangchoi's topic in Toys
Reading this thread I thought the theory about the plastic having a different composition made the most sense, really interested to see what conclusions, if any, are drawn. And I agree that it is odd that the Arcadia VF-1's have a tint or hue or whatever difference. Perhaps it's to allow people to tell the difference (beyond print or other small details) between Arcadia and Yamato produced Valkyries. -b. -
As others have pointed out since this quoted post, it's not at all a apt comparison. We are talking about a group of individuals knowingly producing direct, illegitimately made, copies of a one or more company's actual work. At the very least they are stealing designs, they could also be using stolen (leftover) materials to make them. KO Company producing copies of stolen designs from Yamato/Arcadia and Bandai does not in any way shape or form equate to random stores selling toys to an international market. Did these stores sell stolen goods? No. Am I an international criminal for buying them? No. Are you trying to say BW copied or stole work from HG? Because that's not true. Or that e-tailers selling to an international market stole something HG created? Because that two would be a falsehood. C'mon, that's literally trying to throw something at the wall to see what sticks. Oh, I did a rolling stop through a Stop sign today - if I must, then a criminal I be. But I didn't steal or make a direct copy of said sign to sell to another city or municipality at a much lower cost than official makers of "Stop" signs. And yep, I'm personally still all about the moral high ground when it comes to this subject. "Producers" of these products = thieves and those willing supporting them = supporting thieves. Sorry, not sorry, if that offends anyone's sensibilities. I'm very comfortable with my stance in this matter. If that tickles some nerve then look inwards instead of using a really odd, probably incorrect, analogy to try and support your point about 'innovate or die' or 'make products in a country other than China' or have your products stolen. -b.

Black Panther, now available on home video
Kanedas Bike replied to azrael's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Looks very good (as other's have said, what I've come to expect out of Marvel). The CGI at the very end took me out of the moment though. The roof of the car looks like it came straight out of a video game cutscene. Hoping for a compelling story and strong characters. -b.- 74 replies

Great comparison shots and details Techno!!! Arcadia was smart to limit the release of their Premium offering, if it was the only version, or readily available at this price point it would have been a shelf-warmer. But by limiting production it creates/ed demand. I was recently very tempted to sell my last Yamato 30th Anniversary DYRL Cannon Fodder 1A, but I know I would have regretted it (I articulated that just a moment ago in a private conversation) - especially seeing the pics above. -b.

Short term is probably right, but time will tell. I think I'd welcome a v3 but honestly I can't see myself re-collecting the line from Arcadia. It'd have to be far superior in almost every single way. I'd be more likely to invest in a DX Chogokin VF-1 line to be honest. -b.

Thanks Technoblue, I've been kicking myself for not pre-ordering when it was available at HLJ and I missed the couple of times orders reopened prior to release. Your feedback helps me to not give into the "have to have it now" temptation and OVER pay at N-Y or someplace else that this might pop up. -b.

Not trying to change your mind, because you're pretty set in how you view the issue (which is fine, we don't agree). But for my point of view, it's not about what's fair - it's a matter of integrity, and apparent lack thereof. The folks producing these bootlegged/stolen items aren't doing it to better the conditions of any exploited class of people, they're doing it for a quick profit. In many ways it's way more unscrupulous than the businesses you're willing to hurt or lecture about going with cheap labor or not being innovative enough. Arcadia or Bandia could produce their items in a market with more expensive labor, but what do you think that will do to the price of these items? It's going to drive them up, as you say they're for profit entities, so we consumers get 'relatively' inexpensive Valkyries made in China. Or we could get really expensive Valkyries made in the United States (or wherever). With that logic - what business-related comeuppance would you see fit for the folks producing goods off of the stolen IP? No, this isn't what's happening at all. Not even a little bit. These people aren't making anything better or differently at all - nor is it 'sharing'. -b.

Interesting, this didn't go up at HLJ. At least I can't find it, even using their Advance Search option. I want to pick one up since I have the Hi Resolution Barbatos (still unbuilt, just sitting in the box). -b.- 6025 replies

Damn straight I did. Especially as a 10 year old, and now as an adult looking through rose colored nostalgia glasses. Don't come in here trying to ruin our trip down memory lane sir. -b.

Top Gun: Maverick (Top Gun 2 is comin)
Kanedas Bike replied to Ladic's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Well that sucks. I haven't seen the second Jack Reacher, but the first one was decent. So 1 out of however many isn't that bad. -b. -
Ah - thank you! *happy to know that I haven't forgotten all of the details from my childhood -b.

Wonder Woman, in theaters Summer 2017
Kanedas Bike replied to jvmacross's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
That was my fear as well, but I can honestly say that Wonder Woman was infinitely better than all of the DC movies thus far and better than a few current Marvel movies as well (looking at you Age of Ultron and pretty much every Thor movie). My fear for DC is that follow-up movies won't be as good and we'll be right back where we started with Man of Steel, Batman v Superman & Suicide Squad. And No Man's Land was flat out EPIC. -b.- 233 replies

Top Gun: Maverick (Top Gun 2 is comin)
Kanedas Bike replied to Ladic's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
As easy as this is to pick on, Cruise (IMO) hasn't made a truly bad action movie in a very long time. He's earned a pass in my book, at least until the trailers start to roll out. -b. -
There were so many choices. Decades later I still miss waking up Saturday and Sunday morning having a literal block of cartoons that I wanted to watch. If you offered me a million dollars I could tell you what comes on Disney or Nickelodeon or whatever the kids have now. Yep! QFT And I should correct myself from earlier, it wasn't 'Goose' his name is Shane Gooseman. -b.

Goose! The episode(s) (if there was more than 1, it was definitely the first) with the Scarecrow were the best. And Galaxy Rangers had one of the best intros ever. -b.

The Transformers Thread (licensed) Next
Kanedas Bike replied to mikeszekely's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Fair, it's that same sentiment that compelled me to buy Cheetor, but my apprehension about the character designs to cause me to skip Optimus Primal. It's very likely that nostalgia will compel me to pick up any released MP Beast Wars figures. So it's probably just a matter of time really... -b.- 16946 replies

Not a fan of his Bot mode (going back to the series) but Dinobot was hands-down one of the best (if not one of the most interesting) Transformer characters ever. A huge part of why I enjoyed Beast Wars so much. -b.- 16946 replies

Can I tell you that as I typed that statement my mind went to Toynami's "Masterpiece" line. I have to give them some credit, the packaging was innovative, too bad the toys sucked such a huge amount of @ss. -b.

One of my fears, but it also just allows me to keep more money in my pocket. I won't buy if after-market prices get 'too' out of hand. I hate that I found that really funny. Just sell yours to me sir. Or trade. Or both. I'm sure I have something in the collection you might want. Even if that's not sarcasm, it's still pretty funny and spot-on, I think we all for the price would have appreciated a box that was worthy of the "premium" label. You're my hero. -b.

Probably close to $ 300 after shipping (that 28600 JPY is around $ 260). I had an alert set up with N-Y since I'm still looking for one, but I was fast asleep when they put it back up. I think the price probably would have given me pause, I want one, but the sticker-shock is REAL. -b.
