Fair point and it's all good - people are passionate about the property and characters. I'll just leave it at that. I still very much enjoyed the movie, flaws and all. Re: Snoke, I won't buy into any theories until something appears on screen. He's starting to get the same amount of status and fan interest as characters like Boba Fett. I like how his particular story progressed and I'm very content to just leave his story as is. -b.

Gundam Figure Thread - Newtype GN-002
Kanedas Bike replied to Black Valkyrie's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Was starting to get a little nervous re: the MB QAN[T]. I have one in my PW at HLJ and 2 other pre-orders with US based stores. I may cancel one of those simply because I don't need 3 of them. Thanks very much for the reviews/updates SuperHobo. -b.- 6025 replies

I think that we are mostly in agreement, I liked TFA, always have and honestly didn't mind the similarities to ANH. To be perfectly honest was happy to see what could be considered a soft reboot, I just don't hold the OT in reverence as some do. I also thoroughly disliked the PT but I don't need to flip out over it. I parody the critical reaction of 'too much like SW' vs 'not enough like SW' because of what I see in this thread. I'm far too casual a fan to read any other forums. All of my hobby based conversation come either on this board through direct dialogue, or me reading comments + the handful of friends I have that share similar interests (vs those that could care less about science fiction anything). To me it's unfair an expectation to have, but really to each their own. It's when I see profanity laced tirades or other similarly ridiculous reactions to a fictional property that compel me to add .02, often to the contrary of the 'hate'. The movie has some really good moments, some really silly moments (I agree with the waste that was the casino) and some that are going to spur debate on whether those moments were good or not. I think this is one of the most level-head responses I've seen that explains why a die-hard fan dislikes TLJ, and it puts into context why someone would really dislike the movie in part or whole. And for me it helps to gain perspective and understanding of why some people would be disappointed in the direction they feel the franchise is going. Granted this could just be one of many gripes, but it's expressed in a way that isn't so incredibly hostile. Also, 100000% agreed regarding Transformers: Beast Wars. It's the posts that are all OFMGFANRAGE "someone did the thing that I think is stupid" is exhausting. Emphasis on the rage part of that statement. 'Someone' said we can disagree without being disagreeable. -b.

Diversity. There, I said it. And I want to like Finn because I'm in the same demographic. The same way that characters like Rose get created so that audiences can look at the screen and see characters that 'look' like them and there's nothing wrong with that. Especially with brand new characters that were never portrayed as anything different (even existing characters can use a refresh from time to time - looking at Marvel comics). So hopefully this thread doesn't devolve into men v women v this demo v that demo. Regarding Finn's character and his lack of likability from my perspective I blame Boyega, he overacts 99% of the time he's on screen and it's very annoying. I was hopeful that; I thought that this movie might be a lightning rod because of the chances the movie takes and how it differs from what came before, but I didn't expect the level of pure unadulterated hate. I'm surprised actually. Fans: TFA - hate it, it's too much like old Star Wars!!!! TLJ - hate it, it's not enough like old Star Wars!!!! The filmmakers can't win for losing. Very thankful that I enjoyed both for what they are. New Star Wars movies for old and new fans alike. -b.

Can't keep your secret anymore Saburo, I have to tell the world that you're a super-secret-freelance-photography-agent that has a contract (code named Projekt Zero Three) with Bandai, Arcadia and other companies to make us want to buy their toys. My conscience is now clear. PS - nice pics as always buddy -b.

Not sure why people are crying about creativity and artistic freedom/license. There are a gazillion other comic book properties out there, a lot of them are very good. Just because folks may not be able to take liberties with the Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, the X-Men and Wolverine (Logan was amazing, but was one of only three or four really good X-Flims, including Logan, Deadpool, First Class and Days of Future Past) doesn't mean creativity is now at risk when it comes to comic book movies. Personally I can't wait - bring on the reunified Marvel movie universe. -b.

LOVED Finn's moment during the last battle sequence. Given how the movie had been progressing I hongestly thought that things would play themselves out to their "logical" conclusion. Otherwise, as much as I want to enjoy Finn as a character, I think Boyega over-acts the hell out of his scenes making him borderline unlikable for me. Finn and Phasma are my two biggest complains among TFA and TLJ - otherwise still very much enjoying the sequel trilogy. The relationship with Finn and Rose* was forced, we'll see how that all plays out in IX. *Rose's sister had one of the best moments in the movie IMO. In fact a lot of the Resistance/Rebel self-sacrifice scenes were pretty damn good, I'm surprised no one else got a Rogue One vibe in that regard. And wait...I like Star Wars and the new movies. I just don't hold the OT to some impossibly high standard, as if looking at them through pure nostalgia like I'm a 10 year old kid. *Shrugs* -b.

Nope, they really only lost one planet/base in TFA, whereas the Resistance/Rebels was always a fringe element that needed the new Republic. So when the Republic fleet was destroyed, well... Those 'messages' that were received and not responded to where ignored by someone, hopefully that's addressed in Episode IX. Seeing a lot of discussion about The Last Jedi confirms my thought that this would be another polarizing entry. I hoped, that because I didn't think people would be able to call this derivative, the movie would be more universally accepted. After thinking it over I still very much enjoyed it, flaws and all. -b.

Got my KAI from N-Y earlier today, it took them about 6 days from payment to get it shipped out (12/05 paid > 12/11 shipped). I absolutely think it's a nice addition to the DX lineup, but I'm not sure I would feel that way if I had to pay more than the 36500 JPY shipped mine came out to, but as is I'm glad that I made the purchase. This one will remain in Fighter mode forever, I may transform my original 31J to match my 31C that's in Battroid. -b.

Went to a 'Fans Only' event earlier tonight. No spoiler talk because I'm too tired to type everything up, but I agree that this could be a polarizing film among all of the old-school curmudgeons that poo-poo'ed The Force Awakens or even casual fans. That said, I thoroughly enjoyed this movie, probably more than TFA which I also enjoyed, but I'll need another viewing or two to make a firm determination. Personally I thought it was very strong entry into the Star Was universe and it turned a lot of expectations on their heads and while doing some unexpected (but not in a jarring way) things with certain characters. I didn't mind the humor but I absolutely get while some may feel it was a bit too much. 8.5/10 -b. *Also can't wait to see what Rian comes up with in his new trilogy.

Can't wait to see your pics. I was initially interested but I couldn't justify the purchase when weighted against other high-end collectibles. I have their Omni Class Iron Man Mark 43 and really like it, I'm hopeful that the Prime is of similar or better quality. -b.- 16946 replies

Just watched the trailer, wasn't really excited for more Spider-Man anything, but the teaser looks great! I'm in. -b.

Fighter: 1a) YF-19 1b) VF-4G 1c) VF-1S Strike Gerwalk: VF-1A Battroid: VF-1S Agreed that it's hard to land on just one Valkyrie per mode, the VF-1 for me could easily be my favorite in all three modes, but the 4G is just gorgeous and the 19 is iconic to me. I could also easily add the 25 and 31 to my list, but they're still too new for me to grant them status above the classics. -b.

Well I'm intrigued, no familiarity at all with the source material so I have no preconceptions. I'll watch this in the theater and then circle back to see how it compares. -b.

We are in agreement that the city needs to have paint apps (beyond the glow in the dark) as a checkbox to substantiate the Premium label. -b.
-
As it relates to the original question - "Is there any difference between the premium version and regular other than the painting? Does the premium have more metal? Why is it so much more expensive? " the answer is just paint. All jokes aside, I think everyone who ordered the Premium (including me) is very hopeful that Arcadia puts in all of the time and effort needed in order to validate the asking price. So 'just' as a relative term, I hope that the final product is worthy of the differentiation. -b.
-
Hey - pretty sure that structurally the two releases are identical, so no 'extra' metal parts or joints or anything like that. The only difference will be the amount of paint and decal application. OR What Sanity is Optional just said. -b.

Surprised to see that this re-opened. And is still open as I type this response. If anyone is on the fence, don't wait. I (kind of) regret not getting the Premium Hikaru 1S when I had the chance. -b.
